Does anyone on Rogers have name display (not caller ID, but name display) working on a Galaxy Nexus?
If so, what build are you on?
Thanks.
EDIT: Call forwarding works fine -- it was a user error on my part. Original post modified.
Did you end up figuring it out on how to make it work? I really need this feature?

Neither CNAP nor call-forwarding seem to work on my device, and no one has answered my post. I will try asking in this thread.
EDIT: Figured out the call-forwarding issue. It was related to Rogers One Number. If you use One Number, you cannot use the phone's forwarding menu.
Here is what i was able to figure out But im a noob.
Cyanogenmod has an ICS update review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,11168 (im new user it doesnt let me post link) that enables the name display.
I beleive name display was incorporated into the Nexus S rom *Ultimate ICS v 3.0" so i was trying to figure out how to make that just an update to add a name display on the stock rom. Maybe you can help?

I'm not much of a coder, but hopefully someone can helps us out!
I installed and CNAP is working on [ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.1.4.
To make sure it saves in call log you have to use dialer one or simillar app from the market.

That's great to hear! However, I would still like someone to either explain to me what changes I need to make to a stock ROM to get this to work, or create a flashable zip that I could look at.
Anyone?
Question for the op. Where did you get your Galaxy Nexus? I know Rogers just received some maybe their model will work with Name display. I also have the service on my account , but still didn't get a call from someone not on my contact list... I will post here with my results!

I bought it from Virgin, but all they are all the same (Rogers, Bell, Telus, Virgin), both from a hardware perspective, as well as a software perspective.
I doubt it will work on your device if it is stock.
I disabled Name Display on my account when I had the ATRIX 4G because it would show every incoming call as PAY PHONE but I re-added it a couple of weeks ago and I haven't had any problems. It doesn't display the name of the caller however, just the number.

Then it is not working. That is Caller ID / Call Display. Name display is something completely different.
Caller ID (or Call Display): The network will display the phone number of phone calling you (unless it is a private number). Your phone will display the name of the individual if the number calling is stored in your contacts.
Name display (or CNAP): The network will display the phone number of the phone calling (unless it is a private number), as well as the name associated to that number, regardless of whether or not the information is stored in your contacts. It is network-driven, but your device needs support for it.

I initially bought Virgin Gnex but name display didnt work so i sold it. Then i got it from Fido and name display didnt work, but i kept it and figured it out.
I beleive to make it work the file Gsmconnection.java as per my previous post has to be modified. However since im not that great of a coder i wouldnt be able to figure out how to do it.
If any coders could do a quick mod to enable cnap on Galaxy nexus - then it would be beneficial for everyone.
Another issue i see is the call log. Stock call log is not storing the name display in it. You can download dialer one and it will store the numbers. But it is glitching. Sometimes it just looses the name in call log and sometimes it keeps it. I have no idea why it acts like that. But i think its related to the stock call log because everytime i start it - it erases the "name id" stored on Dialer One.
Mine is also from bell but I'm using it on Rogers... I don't know nothing about rooting or anything so this is bad news for me! Name display works great on my bold 9900 and on my iPhone 4s, I would also like it to work on my Gnex !
Regardless it's still a killer device!

I believe it will work if we get a kernel compiled with this commit: http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#change,11168
We just need someone to build it for us.

Although i hope you are correct, I don't think that will work. I believe we will need a custom kernel.

custom kernel and phone.apk or contacts.apk fix to make the name display show up not only when the person is calling but also to store it in the stock call log.

So would you need to subscribe to CNAP to receive? Or would you still need to subscribe to Caller ID? I would love to drop the $8/month charge I pay for caller ID.

Yes this is an issue with ATT stock rom. Annoying but workaround is to use Google Voice to check outgoing call log
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747
Just upgraded to JB last night on ATT, using GV 0.4.2.66. Phone has never been rooted, stock ATT always. Problem still exists - place a call and the log shows the relay number, not the actual dialed number. Weirdly, back in August I think, after a bout of uninstalling/reinstalling GV, it worked perfectly for a while. Then some unnoticed update broke it and it started storing relay numbers in log again, and hasn't worked since.
As I understand from the MANY other threads out there on this issue, the problem lies with Samsung and their dialer not talking to GV properly. No-one has yet to have any help from Samsung, but the hope was JB would fix it.
Nope. I use GV all the time, so this is practically a deal-breaker for me
What are the options here ? Is it possible to use the stock JB dialer instead of the Samsung Touchwiz one ? I'll root and put in a different ROM if I have to ...
Thanks -
Google Voice stores relay number in call log, not called number
Is anyone out there using google voice with the S3 (on ATT) ? Have you gotten it to store the actual number you called rather than the damn GV relay number ? This is one of the most popular phones out there, and there are a metric ton of people using GV - surely someone has it working cleanly ?
It's frustrating. No workee for me either. Can't redial.
Actually, I wish Google supported GV more. No APIs, so many things can't be done due to using GV messaging.
According to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35616192&postcount=29
Some users (on Verizon?) are seeing it work correctly. This leads me to believe that some builds of 4.1.1 for the S3 may have this functioning correctly.
Some questions:
Does anyone know of any ROMs for the S3 that have the correct behavior with Google voice that work on ATT?
Can we take the dialer from the Verizon S3 and use it on an ATT S3?
Any other suggestions for resolution?

There's an app in the Google Play store that will fix this problem. Just search the store for "GV Outbound Call Log Repair".

Thanks for pointing it out.
Looks like it is new to market. No reviews. ANd the link to the developer's web page appears to be broken.
I'll keep an eye on it and may try it later.
Would be nice if there were a limited time free version to check out.
I'm running Liquid Smooth rom based on JB 4.1.2 and my GV is working great. I noticed your issue on other roms that I test drove but I never did any troubleshooting to find out why it was happening.

I need google voice also, I have tried and flashed numerous roms, this is a google problem for sure, but this rom here, is stock and it displays the correct caller info everytime, been running this rom for 4-5 days, all #'s are listed correctly....
You can keep looking for an answer as I did, and it will come up with the same issue, google+samsung....quit wasting time and use this link...

Hope this helps, hit thanks button....good luck. BTW the newest version of google voice has issues, revert back to version before the one listed, or you will see some more issues....DO NOT TRY THAT google callback app crap...worthless...
Stock 4.1.1 was showing the routing numbers for GV in the call log, but I've flashed CM10 and the call log is showing the correct contact numbers rather than the routing numbers.

FYI...Jumpsquares is the developer of the app, it appears. He has not responded back here to my response above, so I'm assuming he is not paying any attention to this thread. Just dropped in long enough to advertise.
That being said I am happy with my stock/rooted Rom, and decided it would be easier to spend the $2 on his app than installing a whole new different ROM and reconfiguring everything. But after install, it needs email and password; it would not accept it and move on.
I unstalled for refund. Sent him an email to see what hes replies with. Will post back here if there is any progress.
I just switched from a Galaxy S3 to a Galaxy S4 and am having issues with incoming caller id. On the S3, if the number was not in my contacts, it would show up as whatever state the number is assigned to. On my new S4, it shows the number only.
The other difference I notice between the two is the display of the CID. On the S3 it's xxx-xxx-xxxx on the S4 it's xxx xxx-xxxx.
I'm using the same phone provider for both phones. In searching some of the forums, it also looks like you can get name associated to the ICID? If so, does anyone have any idea how so make that work for T-Mobile?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Tmobile caller id works fine for me. Are you paying for the service? Are you on a custom rom?

Let me clarify - the incoming caller id works. However, with the S3 it would show what STATE the phone number is registered to whereas the S4 only shows the number and no state (if the number is not in my contacts).
I'm running stock ROM.

This feature works on my wife's S4 on T-Mo. I've traced down the caller id displaying the state to an app called T-Mobile Name ID. My phone (HTC One) doesn't display the state either when someone calls, but it works on another HTC One that's also on T-Mobile. The difference is that Name ID app - on my phone it says it can't contact the server, whereas on the other phones the app works fine. I haven't been able to figure out why that app isn't working on mine tho... there doesn't seem to be a way to configure it or anything.

Name ID is a paid service, $3.99/mo. When I first got the GS4 and a 10 days free trial or something like that, it work but after the trial period was over it was just regular caller ID.

From what I've seen on the phones I've tested it with, even after the trial is over it will continue to give you the state from where they're calling. The paid service is for all the other info, like the name/company. When the Name ID app is disabled or non-functional, the phone doesn't give any information except for the number.
Hi gnex users, I installed CM11 M12 yesterday on my Galaxy Nexus to try to give the old phone a bit more life. So far I like it, but just one thing doesn't seem to be working for me. I have used my phone for years with two numbers -- my carrier number and my Google Voice number. I use one for work and one for personal stuff. In the stock Google Android 4.3, I was always presented with the option when calling to call using Google Voice, or call using my carrier number. I would choose one or the other depending on whether it was a work call or a personal call. With CM11, I'm not getting this option -- calls are all made using the carrier number (which I use as my personal number). Have I missed a setting here?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Looks like all I had to do was launch Google Voice for the first time. When I did that, it took me through some configuration and I was able to choose to have the dialer ask me every time.
Maybe this info will be helpful to someone else.
My caller ID is not working for any calls not on my contact list. This was not the case on the Pixel 3XL I came from. I have added a secondary caller ID app called Hiya which shows me there IS caller information coming across, but the Google dialer is only showing a phone number.
Anyone else with this? Is it normal on OP? Is there a fix?

You can.
Guess I should have mentioned I have the settings turned on.
I've reset connections, reset network settings, even wiped the phone a few times installing with zero backups. Hasn't changed anything.
While I'm moderately happy with the phone, this is still an issue.
Anyone have suggestions?
You need to call Verizon and tell them your issue.. they need to fix it on their end
I have a pretty hard time believing this is on the Verizon end when different apps will get the information.
The caller information is making it TO the phone, as evident in different apps, but the Google dialer is not broadcasting the info.
After spending countless hours with Verizon just to get this phone working on their network, I probably shouldn't doubt you. It's just a rabbit hole I don't think I can go down...trying to get to a customer support reps who actually knows how to fix things and not read candid answers off a checklist in front of them is pretty rough.

Definitely an issue on VZW side. I've seen reports about this around. I'm on T-Mobile, so it's pretty much enabled by default across all the phones my family has... Including an iPhone.
