Hi,
my car is only driven during summer season - thats why i remove the Battery and all Data from the Headunit is gone.
It took me several days to have everythin and all Apps installed the way i liked them - now all is gone. I did do a titanium backup which helped me to get everythin installed a bit faster.
But isnt there a posibility, to have a update.zip with all System and App Data restored? Would make things a lot easier to me.
So 1st question: How can i store a backup with all Apps and System Data as a backup and more prefareably have it flashed? where it can survive without power.
I think there must be a backup stored, because when installing the batteries back, the headunit did perform some restoring. unfortunately not the MCU i was using the last time. it was an older one.
I was using Codou MCU Named MTCB_KLD_V2.55 from 15.April 2016.
But i cant find this MCU in the file repository anymore. Maybe because the Thread has been splitted.
So 2nd Question: Where is the new Location of the MCU mentioned above?
Thank you.

Hi all,
I started using android from build 5/10 onwards and can notice the improvements substantially till 6/16.
My problem is that each time a new build comes out I have to delete my data.img thereby losing all my installed apps and their data. The apps can be re-installed easily but the data is lost.
My question/solution is that is it possible to buy one of the backup apps available on the store (titanium backup or mybackup pro) and then back up the data to the sd card and when a new build comes along just restore the data from the backup.
If anyone has experience with using these apps for upgrading builds easily I would like to use this experience before spending money on these apps.
thanks,
tovarish.
I can't imagine a backup program not introducing even more problems than before. Can't you just backup the .apk files in the Android apps folder?
I am more concerned with saving my data and settings than the actual apks. They can always be installed easily.
It is a pain to re enter all my detialed setup again.

Ummm I dont seem to have this problem at all
I just use the uninstall menu in WM then install the new cab and its great, apps settings etc all OK. When you use the uninstall it leaves the required files AFAIK.
I am speaking about installing apps in android when a new build comes out. How can the old settings and data be migrated to the new android build.
I see that we have a new build already 6/23.
tovarish
Why not just download the latest rootfs, zimage and modules and replace them? I'm doing that since a few months and this way your settings etc will be saved.
Maybe this has disadvantages aswel but it works for me
ps this is just a work around of your question and I would still like to know if there is such a program.

So am I.
I install the XDandroid cab, install my apps etc. Then when a new Cab is released I boot in to Windows and use the uninstall function, uninstall Android and then install the new xdandroid cab all previously installed app etc are still there.
Ah so the data.img file that is created need not be deleted when a new build comes along.
I use the rar file instead of the cab file.
Thanks for all you answers,

I'm a bit confused by how newer versions of gapps work, as far as version numbering goes. I flashed 4.0.4 but then restored a titanium backup for all my apps and data. Can restoring backups undo updates gained from flashes like this? If so, are there cases where they won't simply re-download the newer version from the market? The fact that some gapps don't seem to have market entries is also confusing in this regard; are these programs only ever updated with android system updates? Or do they just have invisible market entries to control who can download them but still offer updates?
According to app info, my browser is on 4.0.4-257829, so I guess that's a pretty good indicator that it's the latest version. But my camera says version 1, so I'm not sure what to make of that. Is version 1 the 4.0.4 build? Has the camera app itself never been updated, but other system files add improvements as the OS gets upgraded?

Yes, restoring a backup sets everything the way it was when you made the backup - part of it's purpose is to give you a way out if an update breaks something.
If you didn't want to backgrade your apps you could try just restoring app data.
I'd have expected the apps to then be able to update through the market but I've never tried it. If they're not doing it automatically you could try opening market > my apps and seeing if it's offered there.
If it was an off market app you'd need to reinstall it manually.
Your other questions ???
Hmm, actually on looking into titanium's settings, everything that I would guess is included in the gapps bundle is set to not be part of backups (maybe it's all system apps? Not sure how much overlap between the two there is). Sure enough those apps all show as 4.0.4. So I guess by accident or design, titanium backup is safe to just run batch mode on between flashing and not have to worry about overwriting the gapps updates.
ok so heres what has happened. I dropped and broke my Sprint Gs3 scrren + digitizer. Luckily i was on someone elses plan at the time, so i simply created a new plan in my name and got a replacement Gs3 that way. (since the plan i was on had no insurance).
The problem im having is with only 1 app in particular. Its a game called Guilty Dragon, and its only in Japanese. i didnt know until i broke the first phone, that all my character data is stored in 'data/app' folder. the game itself lets you backup you character via logging into twitter, which is supposed to make it easy to migrate your character in situations like this one. Problem is, every time i try to use that twitter function to restore my character data to my new phone, the app crashes. I've already contacted Namco Bandai in Japanese, still no response from them about this. I was hoping there would be some way to get the data/app folder backed up from the original, now broken digitizer, phone, since it is still recognized on my pc with a usb cable. I've tried APK Batch Installer tool v1.5, but it did not back up the data like it said it did, instead it put an empty data folder in the backup directory. Any help, thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated, im on a SPH-L710 with JellyBombRom v13.0.0 , i tried updating to v 15 at first but it was doing the same thing with this app so i thought maybe it was the cause, downgraded to what i had before and still the same problem. I dont think its a problem with the rom though since i even just basic rooted and tried the game before flashing roms and it still also did the same thing.
Is the broken phone rooted? If not, then there's no way you can access the broken phones /data/app directory.
You could potentially try doing an adb backup (Google it) and it may or may not back that up
It your phone is rooted you could also initiate a recovery backup onto the ext sdcard (yes, while the phone is still booted up) and then just advanced restore the data

yes the old phone is rooted, they are both basically the same TWRP recovery with JellyBomb v13.0.0. how am i supposed to do a recovery backup (I'm guessing you mean nandroid) when TWRP needs you to touch it to do so, and my digitizer is broken?

That, or online nandroid dude
Maybe i should point out that the nandroid is not going to help. I already had a nandroid backup of the old phone, when i restored it on the new phone, data/app was not carried over or not backed up by the nandroid. the app itself works on bluestacks, using the Twitter account migration method, but it just keeps force closing on the phone.

Then you didn't make a proper nandroid or select the right options. A nandroid essentially copies your entire rom and put its in a folder on your sdcard. Either you did something wrong, or the nandroid didn't go right.

Could it also be that the game data is linked to the Android ID (also known as ) of the phone? I know for some games, even if I restored my TiBu backups it wouldn't work because the Android ID changed. I know with TiBu Pro you can change it. I don't think that'd cause the FCs on the app... most likely shoddy programing caused that.

hmm, might be worth buying TiBu pro if i can change it and try that. how would i be able to find my old id though with a broken Digitizer? Only other thing i can think of is that , there were some reports of the twitter backup not working for a few users on the version before last, i Migrated to bluestacks after my first phone broke, using v2.1 of the game, once i got my new phone there was a new apk release for v2.2 of the game, might be causing the twitter migration option to not work again. With TWRP its pretty damn fool proof to make a nandroid, just hit backup, then swipe, and system data boot and recovery are selected choices by default. could it be that The Android ID is conflicting with the nandroid also? i have like 10 nandroid backups i can try from, only tried 2 so far, maybe ill try a few more.

Open your backup and go to /data/data/package-name-of-game-here/ and check to see if that directory even exists and if there are files there.
Friends,
I'm on my third MTCB Unit, now I have a HA (Hot Audio) 10.1" in my Nissan Sentra. Well, for months I've been playing with firmwares, mods, new apps, sometimes I need to reset everything and start all over again. After 1/2 or a full hour customizing the unit with all the apps I want and tweaking it, it would be great to backup everything in case of failure. Any hint on how to backup the entire system?
BR
Julio
since custom twrp/cwm recovery is not yet fully functional titanium backup is your best option. Setup all your apps and do a titanium backup, preferably make your backup location your sd card incase you have to wipe the device. Best option I've found.
If you were to use online nandroid backup you'd think you could use TWRP recovery but I could never get it to work. I got ". no system.img so ignore" so I have no idea what's going on but I'd really love to do this so I can test out other ROMS w/o having to reconfigure all the settings.
Hi Guys,
I had to flash a restored backup after my Google Play Service crashed so hard that the only chance to use my phone in a proper way was to restore an older backup.
After this my bluetooth didn't work anymore. No chance to start it. So I opended settings => apps and couldn't even find the bluetooth apps. Only app related to bluetooth was the widget app.
I think the problem began when creating the backup and something went wrong so the bluetooth apps weren't included. Yesterday I did a factory reset but without success
Is there a way to re-flash these apps/drivers or will I have to flash the original Software and loosing all my settings and so on?
Thanks for any help in advance :fingers-crossed:
Stock 5.0 / 5.1? Stock 6.0? CM12.1 ?
sorry, I forgot to tell you my OS
it's rooted stock 6.0
How did you create your backup ?
If you used TWRP, did you wipe Dalvik Cache between flashes?

I've had exactly the same issue. (also after a nandroid restore) RUU'ing the phone did the trick for me.

thanks for your answer
I'll try it within the next days
I also realized that boom sound isn't working anymore. I guess this is the same problem as the bluetooth issue
just did the nandroid again and bluetooth seems to work again *crazy*
Now I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if it really works with my car's audio system
edit: after two days of testing I can confirm that bluetooth is working without any problems :highfive:
but boomsound still is not available. But this is something I can live with
