Hello everyone,
First off i wanna say how amazing this forum is and I have been getting my info from here since i had my Qtec S100. Thank you all for doing this.
Now to my question, i am a proud owner of a desire HD which atm has the stock rom on it
I experience force quits on the market application everytime i try to access an app in there or when i try and access my apps.
Steps i have tried and have not worked so far
-clear cache, clear data on the market application and reboot
-clear cache, clear data on Google services Framework
-unistalled and reinstalled market
nothing has worked so far
browsing through the market works fine, as soon as you try to access any application page or my apps it force quits
Anyone has any insight on why is this occuring?Any solutions available?
Thank you in advance for your answers
Just o clarify you have got root ? if so then you have done a nadroid backup (through clockwork recovery) Best option in my eyes is to wipe and reflash recovery image....failing that (if you have no nandorid backup) then just flash a new nightly rom or new gingerbread rc1 rom....but read the roms post carefully prior to flashing....if thatt still doesnt work then im stumped
Have you tried to reboot your phone after you cleared data/cache??
Thanks for the answers,
The is not rooted atm, so no backup here
I have rebooted the phone several times including after clearing caches etc
It is kinda frustrating, so the only actual solution would be to flash a rom?

I am afraid even that would not solve your problem. If i were you, i would try to hard reset my phone first. Ofc, you are going to loose your data so you should do a backup...
well i have all my info online on htc sense and google, the only thing bothering me atm is the saves on my applications, if i do a backup will they be saved?

You can use mybackup to backup your apps+data. I have never tried this so i do not know 100%. But i m quite sure that it should work without any problem.
Hello,
Thanks all for the great site, sorry to ask this if its all ready been asked but there is so much information here I just cannot make sense of it all and don't where to begin.
I am working on the Galaxy nexus GSM for an employee and we had to unlock and root it to get rSAP working with his car.
I found here a one click solution (cannot find it anymore) after installing the Android SDK and finally getting the Drivers right (not easy) it worked and I unlocked the phone and rooted it. rSAP works!!
Unfortunately this set the phone back to default.
Now the employee is constantly receiving the 4.0.2 update notification (cannot turn off?) what he cannot install (dead android guy every time)
So my question is, what is the best way I can update the phone to 4.0.2 without losing all the data, apps and settings and then make sure the update notification reminder is turned off?
Thanks for any help!
John

I would load the latest AOKP rom, you can find it on here. Then he won't get any update notifications and it has Google autorestore feature which means once he logs into the device his apps and settings will be restored. Would that help? AOKP rom will bring the device up to 4.0.3 by the way. You will still be able to use the ASDK to install drivers etc.
Hi, thanks for the lighting fast reply..
I tried a search but cannot find that ROM, could you maybe point in the right direction?
will installing that ROM delete everything?
Yeah it will because you should wipe data and cache before flashing in CWM recovery. Do a backup of everything with Titanium before wiping. I wouldn't bother backing up apps cos the autorestore will download them and install automatically once your user logs in.
Here you go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402341
Be sure to flash the GApps zip file straight after flashing the rom. You know what I mean?
Let me know how you get on. I also modded the Kernel, I am using Franco's and it is insane.
Hi Jd,
I really am a noob and do not think I can undertake such an action..
The instructions there are very minimal...
Let me put it is this way - Is there any way I can easily ensure that the update notification is turned off - without having to wipe the phone and start over?
Cheers for the help man!!

Unfortunetly not afaik. Someone told me you can mess around with an updater-script file but like yourself I am pretty much a noob to so I don't know.
I would repost and have the topic as something like "disabling ota update notifications" and then link to this post. There is a good chance that someone here will know a solution. That is if there is one John, I have not heard of one though. Best of luck.

Erm, I would definitely not install a custom ROM onto someone else's phone, with or without their consent unless the phone owner was technologically-minded and knew their way around the phone! I would assume that since they offloaded their issue to someone else, they do not belong to that group.
What I would suggest is to keep it as stock as possible. Grab the factory 4.0.2 maguro image (ICL53F) from Google (http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html). Back up apps and app data & SMS (I wouldn't bother with system data, I've only had problems when restoring this afterwards) using Titanium Backup. If there's only minimal user installed apps without any useful data, just letting Google's servers restore missing apps should be fine in lieu of Titanium Backup. Make a nandroid (via CWM) in case something hits the fan when you're flashing.
Once you've done all of this, flash the factory image and reapply root. The phone should now be on 4.0.2 (removing annoying update notifications) and will still receive future OTAs instead of being stuck on a static version of a custom ROM(!!!). I have heard that CWM can cause troubles with OTA updates so I would remove it once you've completed all of this as it's likely the client won't need it anyway (drop reboot-from-recovery.p back into /system/ and it'll restore stock recovery). Oh yeah don't forget to install Titanium Backup (stop all other app downloads in the market for now), restore apps and SMS. Done.
If you don't know how to flash the factory image, follow this tut: http://androidtobe.blogspot.com/2011/12/galaxy-nexus-installing-ics-402-from.html

THAT is the best advice in this thread, keeps the phone stock and up-to-date so the only time he'd get an update notification is when 4.0.x is pushed out
The ONLY thing I'd say is if you don't wanna lose the data, when you get to step 6 of the guide linked to above leave the -w switch from the update line. So instead of typing:
fastboot -w update image-yakju-icl53f.zip
You'd type:
fastboot update image-yakju-icl53f.zip
Woke up today just to see that Titanium Backup had crashed during the scheduled backup tonight. Since then i haven't been able to do anything with it!
Sometimes it crashes right off the start, sometimes i can start a backup and have it crash about ~12-14% in. I tried going in to the settings and checking the "AUTO, indirect" setting that they recommend if you're having problems, but that didn't help either. (And it took me 3 tries to get in to the settings without it crashing!)
I've tried wiping all the app data, re-installing it, installing an older version (that they suggest on their website if having issues). I also tried re-setting the super user permissions for it. None of which helps!
I haven't found any information on it yet, so i assume i'm alone with this? Have anyone else been having the same issue?
Just emailed the support, but i imagine it will take at least a week for them to reply (if they do).
So, any suggestions?
EDIT: I just timed it and it appears to crash after approx 30 seconds, no matter what i do in the application. I Hope the developers sees this.
DOUBLE EDIT: It appears to be working again after updating to v4.9.0.1.
I don't do scheduled backups but the app hasn't failed me yet doing it manually.
well id suggest connecting to your pc and backup the titaniumbackup folder (that way you know all your backups are safe)
then making a nandroid backup
then flashing another ROM or just wiping and reflashing the same ROM you're using

The backups i have stored are outdated now, i've changed a lot since the last update. The plan all along was to do a titanium backup, sync it to dropbox, flash this rom, and then restore all my apps etc. So i'm really kind of out of options now, unless i download everything manually and set everything up again. Doesn't sound very fun tbh. I might just try to find an alternative to titanium, but i'd really like to get it working again. Nothing seems to help.
You are not alone!
Hi, just to say you are not alone. Your case 99% similar to mine.
Just encountered this freeze after the app update on 18/19 Mar and the app will freeze even when I do nothing in the app. And yes, what a coincidence, the app when backup under schedule has stopped (with screen save off) at 14% completion.
Tried the method of deleting the app data and reinstall the app and even worse, now the app stops right when launching after a moment of black screen.
Already filed email and log file to support hopefully there will be an answer...
Hi, I'm also having exactly the same problem with TBU. Am on the pro version.
This has been a problem for about a week now. Not sure if it doesn't play nicely with CM9 or the kernel i'm running. What are you guys running? I may re-flash stock ICS and see if it still gives me problems. Quick question, does reflashing stock ICS remove root? I read somewhere it does and just want to get some different opinons.
Am running a CM9 nightly with Franco Kernal on GMS Galaxy Nexus.

I am also on pro version. Mine is at stock 4.0.2.
And yes, if you re-flash stock you lose root and have to re-root.
I am very very suspecting the crash is something related to the license checking of pro-key so that will explain why the program will crash in 20-30 sec without any special action doing or launching in the app. Just my guess... Hope the support will answer back shortly...
Thanks for the help, have uninstalled for now, will you post if the dev gets back to you?
Interesting that it's happening across a range of different setups.

To all: Yes, the problem solved after I clear the cache and data of the play store. Beware that I also cleared out data of titanium backup before that when tackling the problem, but you may not need to...

Thanks, been without backups since play came. I had tried to clear Google Play Store cache but not data and that fixed it.

Hello,
Using AOSPX MR1 , the Blutooth toggle is stuck on the "on" side , but its Greyed and when i open the Bluetooth Settings , it shows "Turning on" , i cant tap the bluetooth toggle so that i can turn it OFF .Bluetooth doesnt work still ,
is there a way to do so ?
i did try manually , removing the "Bluetooth.apk" from "system/apps" and then again putting it back and rebooting but that didn't help .
I was wondering where would the toggle switch value be saved so if i can manually turn that off from there ?
Thanks

ain't there a db entry for toggle switch where we can change it to off manually using any editor app ? ..
because flashing will require that i configure all the apps again and everything .. got the paid in app purchases aswell .. so that i don;t want to loose yet
Flashing is an option , but do we have another ?
Thanks

You wont lose your paid purchases, theyre linked to your google account, something like titanium backip or my backup pro willnsave all ypur apps data so you onky have minimal reconfiguring, wifi password and recovery, sms backup and restore, first thing to do is a nandroid backup, then you could justbtry flashing it over the top of your current install, see if that fixes it, else try a wipe and if nothing works you can restore your nandroid.

On the other hand if your going to wipe, you could flash a stable rom

You installed the rom and it was working but then you restored your nandroid backup which reset it back to how it was, the nandroid is a complete backup of your phone, so when you restored it, you restored the problem. Try reflashing the rom without wiping, you already have it backed up in casenit causes any undesirable behaviour (bootloops or the like) but I woukd hope that flashing the same rom over the top will correct the toggle error whilst all your installed apps would remain

Backup your apps (apk+data) with my backup https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackupRoot (or titanium backup, mybackup is much simpler)
Fullwipe (everything except sdcard) install rom, restore your backed up apks the restore the data for them (do this seperate, not the option to restore both as occasionally it can throw up errors)
Dont restore your nandroid backup (that has the toggle issue backed up)
Worked

Hi,
After a factory reset to Lollipop 5.0.2, I don't seem to have the Contacts or Phone app anymore. How can I solve this?
The background story is as follows:
I recently resat my Z1 Compact and installed Lollipop 5.0.2. Earlier I had a CyanogenMod version, but it had some annoying bugs, so I decided to go back to stock Android.
I used Titanium Backup to backup apps and user data from CM. When I tried to restore these apps and userdata in Lollipop, I got error messages all the time, saying "android.process.acore", "android.process.phone", "Phone", "Top Contacts" and "Contacts" had stopped working. Trying to get rid of these error messages, I cleared the data and uninstalled some apps related to Phone and Contacts, but the error messages kept coming.
I therefore did a factory reset again. I discovered that I did not have any contacts synced on my phone, so I tried to sync them.
It turned out I couldn't find neither the Contacts app or Phone app on my phone. It is therefore impossible to enter the settings in the Contacts app to make the phone sync contacts.
I have tried searching, but I haven't found a solution.
What can I do to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you may have to reflash. Did you check /system/app? Are they there? If. So, you could try clicking on base.apk, and see if they reinstall, or try to get a stock apk from another user. I'm currently not on stock ROM, so I can't. I came across this thread recently, http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/themes-apps/xperia-z3-apks-t3059426 - it's for Z3, but they might work, or maybe there's a similar thread for z1c, (I haven't seen it). Hope that helps.
Thanks for your answer.
The only relevant apps I could find in /system/app, was ContractsSIM. I'll try to find a thread with stock apps for z1c like you suggested, if not, I'll try the app from z3. If that doesn't work either, I guess I'll have to reflash again.

1. if you switch from a custom ROM back to stock always make a clean install (full wipe)
2. NEVER restore apps with Titanium Backup from CM to stock - lots of problems
Full Wipe - flash stock ROM - install all apkĀ“s new - finish
Ok, great, I'll try that. ?
By the way, I haven't been able to reboot into recovery mode. It's like that possibility doesn't exist after I flash to stock Lollipop 5.0.2. That means I haven't been able to try to install Xposed (which I don't know if would work at all, though...). Any idea why that is, and how I could fix that?

If you flashed stock ROM via Flashtool, you no longer have root or recovery, etc., unless it was a pre-rooted ftf. You'll have to reroot, and flash recovery.
Edit- don't know if you figured it out yet or not, but. I came across this today - http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...-collection-stock-files-sony-devices-t3142349
