Hey guys. You all know that recently Sony released kitkat for xperia E1 and E1 dual. Since both e1 n M have same resolution, will it work if I flash E1 firmwares into M?
NO! Do not do it, you will brick your phone.
The resolution might be the same but:
CPU:
E1: Cortex A7 arhitecture, M has krait
GPU
E1 adreno 302, M adreno 305
RAM
E1 512mb, M 1GB
Camera is also different, 3mpix vs 5mpix.
Pretty much everything except the resolution is different.
How about to porting it?
Could be possible
what about xperia M2 firmware??
Recently kit Kat is released for xperia M2. Can I flash it in my xperia M?
No.
What about port the xperia m2 firmware?

I hope Sony really develop kit kat firmware to our xperia M even some people join signs ti Sony and senda it to request kit kat official fw

I think It maybe ported if someone know how to probably hack the kernel.

Let's explain some things: a ROM have a device-specifc kernel and device-specific libraries, that's why the answer for questions like "Can I crossflash XXX device firmware in my YYY device?" will always be "No, it'll brick your phone" UNLESS the entire hardware is identical (like Xperia M and Xperia M dual, for example -- only the modem is a little different to accomodate the second SIM). Also, if firmwares could be easily crossflashed between devices, Sony wouldn't waste time and resources developing another firmware, they would just reuse the same firmware in many devices...
And for "Can device XXX firmware be ported to my YYY device?", the answer is "Probably not". You would need to rewrite a lot of the kernel code and find the proprietary binaries of the target device (for example, Xperia M uses msm8960 board and as far as I know there's no Android device running KitKat with this board, so the binaries probably doesn't exist yet). The other way would be reverse engineering the binaries from other devices but this would demand a lot of work and it's not guaranteed to work at all.
In other words, firmwares can't be crossflashed and the work needed to port a proprietary ROM to another device isn't worth, it's easier waiting for Sony release the update (no guarantees that Sony will at all) or just switching to a custom ROM like CyanogenMod, Carbon, Paranoid, etc...

First of all sorry for posting thread here in dev sector, but here audience is bigger.
I want to ask devs. Why do you make model-specific mods? Eg AndroidNow supports only D855 and the CM vs LiquidSmooth too.. And many other roms....
What about "korean" series F400SKL or others? It is possible to make multi-variants via AROMA as it did Cloudy.
So answer to me - Is it so hard for developers to bring their ROMS for more people?
P.S. As i know, the difference in models is only in kernel and modem, so why not?
I think once the bump tool is released today, this won't be a big problem.
Because people cant follow simple instructions!

I read the post and don't understand this completely. Does it say that you can use every LG G3 rom on every G3 model?
I believe as long as the kernel matches your device, you should be fine. You might run into problems flashing a Verizon ROM on an AT&T phone though with service and stuff though.
Okay despite you saying that you know that this post was not supposed to be in here doesn't excuse it from being in this sub-forum. Q&A would've been much better since you're asking a question and believe me when the amount of audience in here is just as same in there.

Ok, lets take G3 Android Development section.
S3V3N is a developer of AndroidNow. This ROM is stock-based, and it has awesome features, but the only model it support is D855, so it can't be installed on F400SKL or other model with different kernels and basebands. My question is - Why it support only one model? Why cant developer add AROMA and push there more kernels for more variants of G3 as it did Cloudyfa in his CloudyG3?
And there more ROMS with support of only D855 (which is G3 modification for Europe) For Example CM and LiquidSmooth
As for me, i have bought G3 when in day it was released, and that model is F400S. I think there many people who like custom ROMs but the are not able to try CM on our device because of no support

I think its because pepole without a contract are most likely to buy the D855 variant...
you cant expect a developer to maintain a rom for every variant out there, you can however learn and explore how to get it working for your variant and build it from source.

What contract are you talking about? I bought F400S in Russian LG official retailer. It was unlocked from factory. The box was sealed.
Yeap i can learn how, but i wont to become dev again, and most of people with G3 dont want to develop roms, they want to use CM or others..
I have no idea how @Cloudyfa did his patch to make his ROM work for all variants. He also helped the MIUI dev get that working on all the variants as well. Also this Bump thing is all new to me too. I'm not sure how it all works.
I have the D850 and I flashed AndroidNow when it first came out. It worked fine on my device minus a problem with in-call audio which was not a kernel problem. I believe it was a RIL problem, but whatever the problem was, Cloudyfa made that patch in his ROM to work on all variants.
I'm no dev but I've been around and maybe someday would like to get into ROM developing. I had fun theming the Galaxy SIII back in the day.

It is not a patch. He made AROMA zip with switchable models. choosing a model will install specify kernel, modify build.prop and add some files into /lib /etc (they configure gps region, bluetooth country settings, lte gsm and wcdma bands)

I didnt say you got it under contract, I meant that the most common variant is D855 and that's why chances are that if you're a Dev you got that variant(unless you're from the US and got it under contract from one of the carriers) ... Plus, you say most people don't want to develop for the G3 but you expect development to pick up for all variants, if you gonna demand something to fit your needs you better be ready to assist.
Sent from my caseless LG G3, because I believe in myself
It's simple. You usually develop ROMs for the device that you have. Easier to debug issues for a device that you have rather than ask someone else to do so.
If you're frustrated by the lack of development for your device, PM a dev that develops ROMs for D855, ask him politely if it's possible for him to do so for your variant, and offer to maintain & debug the issues with your device. Sorry to say this but the way you're asking here in this thread comes across as rude and demanding.

F400 is the first variant of G3. It was released 2 months earlier than D855.( or mb 1 month idk) so why European version received CM and other thing earlier? I cant imagine that there are no devs who bought G3 at start, i mean F400

Just search in CM AndroidNow and other for hotword "F400" and u will see that users asked for it long time ago
Asking for it does not entitle you to get it. That is not how XDA works. The devs do what they do for free, for the community, in their free time or as a hobby. It should not turn into something that they *have* to do or be difficult to maintain.
Like I said, PM a dev asking for pointers on how to port stuff for your variant or ask them if they can do so, offer help. Don't post a thread demanding & questioning them.

Stock kernels do not need bump, cloudy uses stock kernels.
If anything the devs do enough by just making the ROM
It'd be cool for someone to make a porting guide. Or even better a stock installer script or an aroma installer that automatically detects the model and flashes the appropriate kernel etc. I'd take on the challenge but I'm not too confident in my skills on this stuff. First step would be diff the stock roms and compare the changes

Okay so if I may ask you. I have a Tmo G3 which is unlocked. I'm running Cloudyfa rom. I have at&t service. In his aroma installer there's an option for both at&t and Tmo. I chose Tmo and can't seem to get the LTE icons to show. Would I be able to flash the at&t option instead in order to get the LTE icon and not damage the phone? Sorry for the long drawn out question.
Thanks for you help.

Hi Guys,
I have a T705Y. Was wondering whether I have to flash stuff specific to the Y version (of which there doesn't appear to be much) or whether I can flash T705 stuff to it as well.
I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
D.S
Where did you get this one from? I'm not sure about flashing stuff on it because most roms and kernels are for the 705. Not sure if the 705 is compatible to the 700y. Is this also a Snapdragon or exynos?

A carrier in Australia are giving them out in a bundle at the moment, my Nexus 7 just happened to break so it seemed to work out.
No idea if it's Exynos or Snapdragon, haven't looked that far into it yet. Was simply asking the question in the hopes that somebody had a quick answer.
It's not a big deal. Some more searching suggests that CF-AutoRoot works, which would probably be enough for me to be able to uninstall / freeze a lot of the chaff on the device.
Thanks

I just got a new australian model sm- t705y. Has anyone flashed the taiwanese lollipop rom to it yet? Does it run good? Should i root before or after? I'm a newbie, thanks, Pet
Edit
I flashed the taiwanese lollipop rom with odin 3.09, it works beautiful, didn't need factory reset after, but it is specifically for the "y"-version of the sm-705. I am facing the same problem, don't know what the "y" means, except that it adds a certain bandwith for Australian 4G. I don't know if i can use stuff for normal sm- 705 or if that would cause problems. I will repost after trying, might take a while as i want to do a full backup first. If anyone has any clues regarding this issue i too would be very happy and
I too would be very very very interested in knowing this. Can't find any info on it other than a "maybe" from the Iron ROM creator.
The main reason I want it is because the Xposed framework doesn't work with current stock Samsung ROMs, yet there are no custom ROMs for the T705Y..
Has anyone taken the plunge and tried a custom T705 ROM on a T705Y??
FYI the T705Y is the Australian variant with 4G 700MHz band 28 for Aussie 4G. It has the Exynos 5 Octa 5420 (Adonis?)
..tempted to buy one with a broken screen just to try it but I don't have the money at the moment.
Sorry if double posting isn't allowed but just an update - I've tried deodexing so I can install Xposed but no luck - have gone through all the walkthroughs and troubleshooting I can find and after about 8 hrs total I've given up. I'll post back here if I get the balls to flash a T705 ROM or if I find a T705Y ROM that will allow Xposed.

Why do you need balls? It's a simple case of making a backup with twrp first which is reiterated on this forum about a million times then just flash away.
As I understand it there is still a risk of a hard brick which means you can't get back into TWRP, unless I'm mistaken?

used to have the T705 a long time back...went to the S2 T715...left that...got a great deal on T705Y practically new was sealed but sometimes wonder about those seals...anyway manufactured just in June this year...runs much better than T705 used to and guessing it is all software (has to be)..has 5.0.2 now (back then like a year back 4Q 2014 was kitkat and a horrible keyboard back then)...
checked that there is a s/w update of 212MB available not sure what that is for
in terms of the Y version...see the Sm-T235...I have that too (and had the Y version of that briefly...the Y version (also Taiwan) for the T235 there is identical to the non-Y version except for some LTE bands...same roms, recovery etc...can check the xda board tab 4 7.0..this is the LTE 235 I am referring to (now 230/231/237 differ) but Sm-t235 and 235y are basically identical. So here too, I think some frequencies are different (enabled bands but otherwise same)
by analogy I am pretty certain the 705 and 705Y have similar degree of similarity and differences like the 235 and 235y...if one can say that..just some bands on lte (235 has the 850, the 235Y has the 700 frequency for example)

I think mac has answered my question will and confirmed what I suspected.

Well just to let you know I have flashed countless custom roms on my t805. For quite a while I was using a custom t805y rom which ran very well with no issues. I also think there is a t705y version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3127127
I now use PhoeniX ROM.
Pretty much any rom can run on these devices regardless of region.
The only thing is you may need to restore or flash the boot.img and modem for your particular device if you encounter issues.
I have only ever had to restore the modem.
Well i flashed t705 recovery yesterday and chaimsaw
Latest su2.62 that also works on t235 5.1.1...xposed running too

i dont know but i think Because of the device's processor is a Qualcomm 801 processor and supports. So maybe that's why if you write some code to the kernel so the device will load faster

Finally, I have a xt1799-2 (chinese moto g5s) and the zui 3.1 rom not have pt-br language.
if i flashes xt1792 rom(comes with pt-br language), its can work or its brick?
The differences between the two is just the front camera, NFC and 4gb vs 2gb, I do not use the nfc so I do not care
Appreciate
From what I could see of a chino when installing the stock rom of the bike g5s everything works except the NFC and the Frontal camera, could someone inform me if replacing some files of the montana by montana_retcn does not make these sensors work? example fsg.mbn
did you really install xt1792 ROM to xt1799-2 ?
The front camera won't work because the XT1799-2 uses a different sensor than the one used in the other XT179x models.
And fsg.mbn has to do with the baseband. What you would need to do to (try to) get both NFC and front camera working is to copy some system files from the Brazilian firmware to the Chinese one you're using. And probably have a custom kernel built as well.
Edit: oh, and don't flash any bootloader related stuff. It may hard brick your phone.

I tried to talk to him by PM but he has not answered me yet, for now I'm waiting for the phone to arrive and researching how do I correct the problem of the camera driver and nfc with a custom kernel or who knows how to use the kernel itself Chinese rom the two are both android 7.1.1, but I still have to test to see if it works

In china every motorola phone comes with the ZUI, I think it's because la can not use google and etc. Unfortunately when I bought I did not know this detail, I only found out later, but I already saw a process similar to the bike z2 play
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-play/how-to/fastboot-rom-oreo-retail-via-fastboot-t3786153
where everything was working, it gave me hope that I could do the same

My phone arrived today, unlock his flash and then flash the moto g5s rom without the bootloader, boot, modem, fsg, dsp, and without the imei erase, the phone turned on and such but the wifi did not work(don't enable) , nor the camera, I tried to install the twrp of montana in it, the version of squid did not work, the other was upside down and asking for a password to unlock but could not do anything because it was upside down and I gave up trying to see if you could get the camera to work , does anybody know how to solve these small twrp problems and give me tips on where to get the wifi settings?
wifi does not have mac when I install the g5s version, how do I fix this?
first I have to solve the twrp to be able to flash the future files to correct the bugs (or not?)

Sorry for the bad english!
Appreciate

friend, I have an equal, XT1799-2 came with the rom of the zui, when updating he did not call him "Hardbrick", you could help me return him even if it is for rom da zui.
