Hey guys , am having a problem with my htc one x recovery ,
as i was going with the rooting of my phone i got stack at 1 point where i needed to use recovery so i could access the zipped file in my htc (i have already unlocked the bootloader). So when am getting to the point of using recovery from the fastboot screen with the color letters (using volume up and the power button to navigate as always) the htc message pops up trying to load the recovery and then a black screen pops up with the icon of the mobile and a green cyrcle, and after a few secs of loading theres another icon with a red triangle and a exclamation mark. at that point the phone stacks with that icon and i can do nothing. after a couple of mins the phone just restarts by itself and am back on the normal htc interface...
In the video i saw after he used recovery none of those icons where seen and it loaded up the default directories of the phone, as i was searching in net i saw a prob like that and the solution was to erase the fastboot erase cache, already erased the cahe but the problem is still there, if any solutions for that would be greatly apreciated !
Did u flash a custom recovery ? Latest is cwm 5.8.4.0
The one u are describing is the stock one.

The recovery you described is HTC's stock recovery ... Go to here - > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819 < - and download the first link and put it into your phone sdcard then reboot into fastboot and fastboot flash recovery <recovery name>.img and you're good to go for flashing ROMs

no need to put the recovery.img in the fastboot folder:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery path/to/recovery.img
Very true .... but to keep it more clear (just like putting the boot.img in the fastboot folder,.like most tut's say) i advice to do it straight from the fastboot folder, so in that way the commands stay the same.......if you get my point

Have you flashed boot.img?
I think it's better to read more rather then watching half baken video's (what you did not know) it's better to follow the tutorials here !
And yes like said before flash the boot.img
Extract it from the rom.zip and place it in fastboot folder
Phone in fastboot USB mode and do the following command
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Just like you did with the recovery
Reboot !

ok.. so i just searched a bit in this forum and the tutorials here as u said , and y after i saw in here am not going to trust any videos and just follow the forum.. i missed a couple of steps first i dont know what CID i have , which as i've seen its very important ( any ways to check now that i cant use my htc and am stack in bootloader?) 2nd i ve seen i need to have the hboot 1.31 for it to work and currently i don't. thought that maybe that would fix it and downloaded it and as the steps told me
1.i relocked the bootloader
2.downloaded the firmware.zip from the forum instructions
3.entered succesfully the command "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
4. { (4) In order to flash new hboot write "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip" } and here am stuck cause when am typing the command am getting FAILED <remote : not allowed) and in that step i saw a vid again (i know...but am desperate) which he said if that happens u should use the
adb reboot oem-78. which i did and after it opens deamon it says error : device not found
and also u said:
And yes like said before flash the boot.img
Extract it from the rom.zip and place it in fastboot folder
i know i might be asking for much but plz put some more detail form me as am somewhat new to this and i might not understand some of the ways
for example which one is the boot img? the hboot 1.31 ? and what do u mean extract from rom.zip ( the custom rom maximus v6 i downloaded u mean?) and i really apreciate ur time guys ur helping me much hope i can still use my phone after ur instructions atm i crying over a my dead phone help me bring it back ( if its possible ;/)
boot.img is insite the custom rom zip file open the zip file with totalcommander take out the boot.img an fastboot it
so u mean the boot.img inside the zipped folder from the instuctions named firmware ? the one that has the hboot 1.31? cause if thats the case i tried and i unzipped it put it on the fastboot folder and tried to run the commands like this
fastboot flash boot boot.img
what i got is
sending 'boot' <5260 KB>....
OKAY [ 0.6s ]
writing ' boot'....
FAILED < remote : not allowed>
finished . total time : 0.9s
so that got me curious and i typed adb devices to check on cmd ... but my phone is not listed there o-o
while i was doing this the phone is on fastboot menu with the cable attached and says FASTBOOT USB.
any ideas? also how could i manage to come so far if the phone couldnt be reached in the first place (something changed meanwhile?) any ideas?

Hi guys,
I have already read dozens of pages regarding the procedure to root my new Htc M8 but I am still a bit confused.
In the picture attached you can see the status of my phone, I think the previous owner has already unlocked it .
What I am kindly ask you is to help me to find the next step to root the phone. I suppose that I have to download a TWRP file, copy it to the internal memory of the phone and then chose "Recovery" but I'm not sure and I don't want to make a disaster !!!
Can U help me? I'm on Mac.
thanks

That is not the proper way to install TWRP, and I don't know how you got that notion.
The proper way to install TWRP is described on the TWRP website (see under "Fastboot Install Method"): https://twrp.me/devices/htconem8gsm.html

Is it right?
Once Flashed the twrp image, phone will be wiped?

Did you check to see if the phone was still rooted? It was clearly modded by the previous owner, so may still be rooted. You can check with one of the root checker apps; or simply any app that requires root (such as Titanium Backup).
Although its also possible they unrooted and left the SuperSU app still installed. Just having the app installed does not in itself give you root, the binary also has to be installed. So if that is the case (no root) then UES you will still need to download the current version SuperSU and flash in TWRP in order to gain root.

Nope, TWRP just overwrites the recovery partition. Completely separate partition from user data, ROM, etc.
Regardless, I still highly recommend you backup any personal data that is important to you (preferably backup to an off-phone location) before doing any mods, just in case something goes wrong.
Hi Redpoint73, thanks for the useful info.
I am pretty sure that it is unrooted. I unsuccessfully tried to install Titanium Backup and also the SuperSu application don't start because of the missing of root permission.
Then If I have understood your suggestions:
1) connect the phone with debug Usb ON
2) type ./fastboot twrp.img
3) Phone off
4) Power+Vol-
5) Fastboot menu
6) Recovery+Power
Is it right?
And then? What's happen after? The phone will reboot himself?
thanks
ciao

Then If I have understood your suggestions:
1) connect the phone with debug Usb ON Doesn't matter if Debugging is on, this only enables adb commands. Fastboot commands work regardless of debugging on or not. But Debugging on is good to have in other situations (so I usually leave it on).
2) type ./fastboot twrp.img Don't know where you got this syntax from. Its not correct. The command given on the link I gave previously (Post #3) states: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
If the syntax is not exactly right, the command will fail or perform the wrong action. Also note that the TWRP img filename in the command needs to match the actual TWRP file you with to flash. You will notice when you download the TWRP file, the file name is actually much longer than just "twrp.img". So you can either type that whole filename exactly, or change the name of the file to actually be "twrp.img" (with no quotes)
3) Phone off
4) Power+Vol-
5) Fastboot menu
6) Recovery+Power

At some point before Step 6, you need to put the SuperSU zip on the phone. You can download it direct to your phone from here: https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
After step 6 (boot into TWRP) select "Install" from the main menu. Navigate to the SuperSU zip, then select it. Once its flashed, reboot. You should be rooted and good to go.

I don't know anything about Mac's, so I probably will be of limited help in that regard.
Did you install the Android SDK, or other Mac friendly adb-fastboot environment?
it is really strange...
I have installed both Adb and fastboot but whenever I try to flash the image file I get the same error: Permission denied.
With Mac there is no need of driver to work and I don't know ho to proceed.
Thank you redpoint73, your help has been very appreciated, I will search again on the net to solve the problem.
Have a nice day

Make sure you are running fastboot command while the phone is in bootloader-fastboot mode. Run adb command while booted into OS (and Debugging needs to be enabled in Settings).
You are in the correct directory (where your fastboot and adb executables are located) when running the commands?
Try finding a thread specific to running adb/fastboot on a Mac (probably doesn't need to be M8 specific) and reading up or post a link to this thread. This may be some Mac-specific nuance that I am not knowledgeable in.
thanks again dear redpoint73,
I checked again and It seems to be all right but it doesn't work.
I have just one doubt yet. Perhaps I have to flash a root file like this http://www.androidrevolution.org/do...le=Android_Revolution_HD_Root_and_BusyBox.zip and then supersu.img through recovery menu?
Could it be the way to gain the permission?
thanks

Sorry for the wrong link
This is the correct link for direct download
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424964938
Follow these steps:
Download the TWRP recovery image to be installed on your Android.
Enable USB Debugging under Developer Options.
Install ADB and Fastboot utility on your PC via
https://devs-lab.com/download-lenovo-usb-drivers-adb.html
(extract the above rar and install exe file)
Go to the directory where you have downloaded the TWRP image file and then open the command console or termianl on this directory on your PC. To open a command window on Windows OS in the current directory, press shift + Right Click anywhere on Windows explorer, or some folder. Then on the menu opened, just press the “w” key on the keyboard or select “Open command window here” to open a command window.
Now connect your Android to the PC using a USB cable.
Enter the following command on the command window opened:
adb reboot bootloader
to put your Android into bootloader mode where you can flash/install the TWRP recovery.
If your Android device asks permission such as “Allow USB debugging” then just tap on OK to proceed.
Now when your Android is on the bootloader mode just execute the following command on the console:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.x.x-xxx.img
While executing this command make sure to replace the twrp-3.0.x.x-xxx.img with the actual file name of the TWRP that you have downloaded for your Android.
Wait for the TWRP to be flashed. Once it is done execute the following command:
fastboot reboot
on the command console and done, your Android is now installed with TWRP recovery.
Hope this helps you out

Hi to everyone!
I just bought a Lenovo Vibe P1 version P1C72 ( 3gb Ram and 16GB memory) from China and it came with Android 6.0.1 installed, VIBE UI.
Unfortunately there are o lot of bugs in this version, and i want to downgrade my phone to Android 5.1.
Could somebody tell me if i can do that by following the method from androidMTK.com, using QcomDloader Tool and lenovo P1a42 stock rom?
Or there is another way to downgrade my phone, because that seller guy from China told me there is no way to go back to Android 5.1 ?
Thanks in advance !

The nfc will not work with 01a42 lollipop, and i dont have chinese 5.1 sorry. Maybe u can try some good custom rom from the developers
If only NFC is the problem, i don't mind. I'm not using it, anyway.
But the method, using QcomDloader Tool, or another tool, is safe?
I'm not risking to brick my phone?
I'm still thinking to flash my phone using Qfil and put version P1a42_S135_1510131022_Q20248.2_ROW instead of Android 6.0 Marhmallow and get rid of those problems.
Could it be done such downgrade?
also looking to upgrade my p1a42 to nougat rom that is stable no bugs. is there a reason you gave cwm instead of twrp? say we go with cwm are there any rom it will not flash or just about any rom it will handle? i prefer twrp by the way there is one for the p1 but people are having issues flashing it. your advice is truly appreciated.

you might have unlocked bootloader with unofficial method. nothing to worry about its just a warning devices are far more insecure. if you are worried about privacy things. believe there is nothing like secure when using digital devices. and there is not even single service provider which do not collect data. hence enjoy your unlocked device and play around

as you already downloaded that rom.. and also the recovery needed for that rom..
first of all same as earlier flash MM bootloader. ther reboot bootloader once then flash twrp. the exactly mentioned in the RBR rom thread. then go to advanced in twrp and click adb sidelaod. tick wipe dalvik cache and cache. swipe to sideload ... now run command adb sideload "rom file name"
if bootloops after flashing firmware. do a factory reset and reboot. going to sleep now 1.15 AM here. will answer tomorrow if any other question

The boot.img was missing, sorry.
Download Boot.img
For a correct PixelExperience flash, you must flash vendor_boot.img and boot.img, the recommended firmware is Miui 13.0.5 SKOEUXM
how to instal step by step ? PLS

Sorry, I have posted a defective zip, in order to boot, download an official Fastboot ROM and unzip it, then go to the generated folder and open the console inside the folder and execute the following command: "./flash_all.sh"
