Phone stuck on Google screen random - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was using my phone casually on whatsapp, and suddenly the phone freezes and then it's stuck in some weird black screen which is neither on or off. Sometimes it switches off and won't go past the Google boot logo. I was able to recover my data using TWRP. Is this a software or hardware issue. I'm in India and out of warranty. This same issue has happened to 3 of friends who had Nexus 5X

I'm having this issue as well. It will freeze in different apps. Then it reboots after about ten minutes or so.

Your phone is dead.

I'm having same issue , is there any fix /repair option ?

The nexus 5x suffers from poor LG soldering and can go into bootloop, there is a class action lawsuit against them for selling faulty products. Think the phone is dead, sorry. You can try LGUP and putting the phone in download mode and trying to flash it back to factory settings but unlikely to work.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus wont Fastboot

Hi all.
I have a seemingly unique problem with my nexus, one day it got stuck in the boot logo. I gave the phone to a friend to fix, he used the galaxy nexus tool kit and halfway through solving the problem the phone crashed and now wont boot. At all. I am locked out of fastboot nothing at all is displayed on the screen, the tool kit wont detect the handset. There is no response when I push any of the buttons. I tried opening the phone and shorted out the power button. the only response I get from the phone it when I plug it in to windows 8 it get the sound on my pc to know it found hardware, then immediately followed by the disconnecting sound, and a little notification flashes from the system tray, If I am fast enough I can click on it and I get this message:
(I cant post a link as this is a new account) i.imgur.com/fmkE9Ki.png
I found on another thread that someone had a similar problem, they fixed it by getting a new battery, I did this and it still didn't work. i checked with a multimeter and they're both fine anyway. I am about to use my last resort and send it in to a paid service. Is there anything else i can try? or do you think a repair shop would have a better chance?
Thanks in advance for your time.
You're internal memory might be fried, happened to my first GN, was downloading something via a torrent app and all of a sudden the screen went black, had to pull battery and restart, first time it nearly got through the boot sequence but then froze up again, pull battery again to reboot but the second time it just started with major graphic errors and did not leave to Google logo screen.. Had to be replaced, good thing was that there was no way for service center to tell it was rooted ;P

[Q] LG G3 (D855) keeps rebooting...

Hello everyone,
I have a serious problem with my 3 months old LG G3 (D855):
It keeps rebooting randomly, and by rebooting I mean the LG logo appears for 3 minutes to several hours, then back to the desktop screen again. It annoys me so much since it occurs pretty much all the time even in the middle of a phone call, rendering the phone completely obsolete…!
I initially thought it was a “compatibility” issue between stock Lollipop and the phone, so I went on rooting and flashing the device back to KitKat then to CyanogenMod 12.1, but the problem persists and now it's the Cyanogen logo that appears instead!
Additionally, I noticed a tremendous heating of the device and quite a lot of lagging even on Nova Launcher!
I’d send it back to SAV if I could but I live in Morocco and the purchase was made from France...
I need your help!
Factory reset it. Remove SD card if you have one. Flash back to complete stock.
DO NOT INSTALL ANY NEW APPS for a couple of days. If issue persists, it's either the battery or the hardware.
I have the same issue I don't think its a one off either my problem started when my phone gets to 15% battery then just randomly rebooted now its stuck like in a boot loop I've tried everything to get it back I was running stock rooted d855

Boot Looped

Hello,
Today, while I was using my phone, it restarted itself and has been stuck at a boot loop almost entirely since then. It has successfully booted up 2-3 times but will usually restart itself within 30-45 seconds of booting and then will be stuck in a boot loop again. When it has started up its usually after it has been bootlooping for a while. I have an H811 , I'm rooted and using xTreme Rom v2.0. I have had occasional random reboots here and there before but the phone always booted right up again without any issues. I haven't done anything with root/recovery since early September.
I've tried doing a factory hard reset without any luck. My phone booted up after I tried the hard reset and it was like the reset didn't happen. I can't boot into TWRP. I can boot into download mode and I tried to reset using kdz. It got to 100% but the the phone restarts and is back in the boot loop (then the lg flash tool gets an error and force quits). I've tried removing my sd and sim cards, I've tried swapping to a different battery, I've tried leaving the battyer out and letting the phone cool down. Nothing is working. I have noticed that when the phone is going to boot up correctly the full LG animation plays. When the phone is going to boot loop I only get a static LG Powered by android image.
Since I tried and failed to reset to stock using kdz, the phone no longer boots up past the LG screen. I've redownloaded the kdz file and tried to reset again with the same results. When I have it in download mode Windows recognizes the phone but it says there's an issue with the MTP driver. I've reinstalled the drivers and I still get that the MTP function isn't working correctly.
Any suggestions?
Hey man u r just having my problem. There is a thread already for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3233160

I am having the same issue. I have T-Mobile G4 that is NOT rooted. I bought it on release day. I too would get random reboots, particularly after the recent security update. I also noticed that the operating temperature was really high, a lot lately. I thought it was a rogue app (clean master). Anyway, I updated a few apps and installed a few watch faces. Suddenly, my phone was drained prematurely. Plugged it into a quick charge charger when all the fun begins. Early on it would boot to the home screen but would reboot a minute or two later. Then it stopped booting to home. On two occasions that I caught, it was starting up like a firmware update just installed with the "Android is starting 1 of 143 apps" type of line. After seeing that and still not getting to home, I figured I might as well factory reset it. Well I was amazed to discover that a factory reset yields the same boot loop. All I get is the LG logo.
Defeated. I go to my local TMo retailer where I bought the phone only to find out that I have to wait for delivery of a replacement. I'm in Jump btw. I did notice that when the phone will boot to home screen for whatever length of time, the LED would work. The LED does not work during a boot loop. My research on this issue uncovered an alarming trend on the Internet. No solution other than replacement. No cause has been identified either. Without proof, these are my top suspicions: Quick charge, 128G SD, apps moved to SD. My hunch is quick charge. All of my chargers are Qualcomm certified quick chargers. and I use them 95% of the time. I would hate to add LG to my list of boycotted Android vendors under Samsung.

Sounds like the boot loop issue is a decent sized one- quite a few others, from different variants, having all having a similar issue. For me I was walking with my phone checking facebook when it restarted and got stuck. I definitely notice the LED issue too. I'm not on jump but will likely go into T-Mobile today and see what they tell me.

Nexus 5X boot looping issue

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my Nexus 5X. I was on Instagram looking at videos and it froze and wouldn't respond at all. The screen then went black, and then turned back on. It showed the Google logo, turned off, and then turn back on and repeat. I have never encountered boot looping, but I'm guessing that's what this is? This happens for about 20 minutes, and then it will finally boot normally. Once the phone is on, if I try to do certain tasks (opening a camera app, or some sort of chatting app), it will freeze again, and will start boot looping again. I am running Android 7.1.2, and I just installed the August 5th security patch. I have left the phone turned off for about an hour, and turned it back on and it still has the issue.

Is there an app that can log why my phone keeps switching off?

In the last few weeks my normally totally reliable Pixel 2 XL has started switching off or restarting. It never happens when I'm using it and it's always when it's in my pocket. It can happen if I have full charge or anything inbetween. The phone is now just out of its 2 year warranty period and it's highly probable that the issue is down to the battery needing replacing. I've tried factory resetting but this hasn't helped.
However I was wondering if there's an application that I can pull logs from it to see why the phone is switching off and rebooting? As once I factory reset my phone it just installed all my old apps, so if one of these is the culprit the problem will still occur.
Thanks.

This has been happening to me too!
Especially when inputting Wi-Fi passwords.
As an update to this, my phone totally died the other week. I can just about get it into the Android boot screen when holding volume down and the power buttons when its chagring. But if I select retart or developer mode it flicks on the Start up splash screen and then powers down. I now can't even sell it for spares or repairs as I can't factory reset it!
In the mean time I've 'borrowed' a crappy works phone and I'm impatiently waiting for Google to release the Pixel 4A.
