Hey there,
i do know that 3G draws more power since the radio for it must be constantly active whereas the WiFi module has better sleep modes (might be oversimplified a bit).
Whenever i leave the house (WiFi area) and the phone switches to 3G my battery is draining much much faster than usual. When measured, it averages to around 120 uAmps, in contrast to about 10-15 uAmps for Wifi.
I cannot understand how it can have such an enormous impact, surely there must be something wrong.
ROM: No difference in roms, but didn't try a whole lot, it's MIUI 1.4.22 R1, anyway (GB 2.3.3)
Radio: 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Thanks in advance,
Dennis
Your radio is so out of date, wow. Go and get this one, 5.17.05.08.
Just flash it in recovery and you should be good to go.
Thanks, I've flashed the Radio and turned off WiFi.
Ill keep the values in check and will get back to you, this might've just fixed it
Hehe lets hope so
My phone constantly drops calls on Vodafone (UK).
I got so fed up I put the latest stable Cyanogen ROM on it but the issue still occurs
I have also noticed that my status bar only displays the "G" rather than "3G" with the latest cyanogen even though I am getting 3G speeds. If I switch the phone to 2G only and back again then displays correctly.
Can you test on other phone signal strenght? Maybe it's weak.
If signal is good try some of sense roms.
For example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12384604&postcount=12328
I had never drop calls on these roms.
Phone signal if full - it makes some sort of funny sound when it cuts off then hangs for a second or two.
I had the stock ROM which is sense and it happened a lot of the time.
How would a sense ROM help?
Hello,
I've tried some AOSP(maybe spelt it wrong) ROMs, and some sense ROMs, and in some I had a very, very bad WiFi signal issue. Currently I'm testing one out and it's always ar 1 dot or 2 max for 3 seconds, and then it disconnects, reconnects again. I'm barely 7m away from my router, maybe even less. I'm not sure how the signal was when I used Stock ROM, but I think I had 3-4dots all the time, now I'm loosing the connection a lot. I was searching for a good fast ROM(idc about sense really with this phone), but that issue is killing me really.
What would be the issue? A radio, kernel, ROM problem? Any tips?
So we're still seeing inconsistent signal reporting on LTE within AOSP ROMS.
The bottom line (as of today) is that the devs believe that the bars (in AOSP) display a more accurate representation of signal than the bars on every other stock ROM on every phone from every manufacturer. Let's say, for the sake of avoiding a heated discussion, that I completely agree with the devs and their observation of this phenomenon. Is there anyone out there that can give me instructions to increase the number of bars that are displayed? It seems that AOSP and stock are only off by about 1-2 bars. If someone would be kind enough to instruct me in adding a value to the build.prop or something similar, I'd be happy as a clam. I would really like to see the signal bars in AOSP displayed as they are in a stock ROM. Is there even a way to do this?
Thank you!
Hi all, could anyone helke with something?
On stock Sense ROM i almost always have full LTE signal in my city and rarely almost full. But when on LOS (be it Linage or Resurrection Remix) my signals worsens significantly. From almost full to yellow or red ststus signal in battery meni and it often changes. Additionally, i often see LTE+, is there a way to turn it off?
Thanks for help!
