[Q] OpenVPN - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Installed OpenVPN connect, imported profile, entered username and password. Click Connect and then... nothing. Nothing happens.
Probably something simple I'm missing. Any ideas?

Froyo and exchange

I've searched everywhere but cannot find a solution that works.
I've just got a HTC Desire but cannot get ActiveSync to work. No one other has a Desire with froyo so I cannot get any help here. (they do got iPhones or window phones, which all can sync)
I use the exact same settings as they do, however whatever I do I get "authentication failed", and I know that I user correct domain/user/pass.
I tried owa through the browser and that worked fine. I checked the certificate and that was valid. Any ideas?
We run exchange 2003
go check the exchange original certificate's host name.
This was the problem with my setup.
On 2.1 it didn't care, on 2.2 the domain(host name) must be identical to the actual certificate of the exchange.

I'm going to assume you are running Froyo - as most exchange servers require remote wipe and unless your device meets the minimum security requirements it will not work.
Have you installed the certificate? (This may not be necessary as ActiveSync pulls the policies from the server)
Settings > Security > Install from SD Card
Froyo supports ".cer" certificates so you should not have a problem here.
Here is the main thing, in security you need to make sure you do the following:
Change screen lock - make sure you set a PIN password (MUST BE PIN!) If you have pattern password enabled you will not connect.
Lock phone after - this should be set to "Immediately"
After over a week of trying to get it working on my Desire changing to PIN password is what I had to do. Let me know if this works for you.
Failing this download the demo version of TouchDown from the android market and try to connect using the "Automatic" method - if it fails it should give you more details on what the actual problem is or you can always email NitroDesk who make the app for help.
Thanks will try!
tried and it did not help. I'll check with the retards managing our echange. My colleague tried with his user/pass and it worked straight away. there's something wrong with my user i guess.
There is a bug with certain configurations of Exchange 2003 where IIS will throw an error when you log in, if your password is set to expire within 14 days.
Try to log in with outlook web access and see you get "HTTP 401 Unauthorised".
If you do, and press F5 and see if it lets you in. If this happens then you just need to change your password and it should start working on your Desire.
Thanks for your answer st0kes, but it did not help. I can access OWA without any problem. I have tried to set a new password but that did not help either.

WiFi is broken after rooting

After I rooted, my phone won't connect to WiFi anymore.
I started with the Cyanogen Mod (6.0.2). When I try to connect to a WiFi network, it tries to connect and gets to the "obtaining ip address" message, and finally fails to connect.
I figured I should try a different mod and completely wipe the card. So, I did this via Rom Manager. I had it backup and wipe, then install Skyraider w/ Sense. The same problem persists.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can troubleshoot this problem? Thanks!
Dumb question, but you did re-select the WiFi network you want to connect to, and re-entered the password for that network (if one is required)?

Yeah I have. I've tested this with multiple WiFi networks on each mod. It always gets to the point of "obtaining ip address" which to my understanding means the password has worked. Either way, I'll always long press to forget the password, and re-connect. Even disabling the password on the router still causes the same issue.

Problem connecting to WIFI Network at work

Hi all,
we've just installed a radius server at work which works with a certificate on the client side, I'm trying so hard to get my galaxy to connect to the network but I'm having no luck.
I've tried installing the certificate but I'm not 100% sure its installed.
The security for this network displays on my phone as WEP so when I try connect it asks for a password
On my computer I don't get prompted with any password it just automatically connects.
Anyone experienced the same issue and managed to fix this?

[Q] err_proxy_connection_failed!

Error code: ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED
Running Nexus 7 2013 (2nd Gen) WiFi, kitkat, unlocked,
Wifi shows strong connection, detailed error message,
Unable to connect to the proxy server, A proxy server is a server that acts as an intermediary between your device and other servers.
Your system is configured to use a proxy, but Google Chrome cannot connect to it. All my other wifi devices, phones and laptop connect OK.
If you use a proxy server...
Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. (end of error mssg)
This is beyond me, I was using wugfresh to root, got it unlocked but never got it to root, while doing so, there are two kitkat os options, and when I finally tried the second one, this happened. All else works fine, just this wifi connection error, I reset wugfresh to the first kitkat os version and tried rooting again but no change in proxy error. Not blaming wugfresh, just explaining what I was doing. Googled for a solution but they all refer to Chrome on a PC, I cannot find proxy setting info on the Nexus 7 2013 wifi.
I've tried all the obvious, shut off and restart, plus, wiped and factory restore to original.

FireTV Stick 2 Stuck in Login Screen

Hi, I installed twrp today and restarted my FTV, now I am supposed to login with my amazon account, but when I try it says that there is a problem with the email and password combination, I tried it many times, and also tried to add a 2FA code at the end of my password. unfortunately usb debugging is disabled because of a factory reset I did. So, can anybody think of a workaround? Maybe is there a way to boot to twrp without using adb?
