Any Aussies? Telstra branded HTC 10, issues with sim unlock - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hi all. I have purchased a second hand 10 locked to Telstra and have tried everything humanly possible to get it to accept a Vodafone sim. It is currently running the 1.95.841.3 firmware (Telstra stock) and is driving me bat **** crazy.
I have even given in and paid Telstra $25 to unlock it. The only drama is when inserting the Vodafone sim upon rebooting it doesn't offer up the option to enter the sim unlock code.
I have sporadic connectivity with no data connection, and trouble registering on the Vodafone network.
I have unlocked the bootloader, it's s-off and I have successfully changed it to wwe and unlocked us variants, tried the latest viper and eventually resolved to flashing back to stock rom.
Every thing I have tried still has the same issue. Mobile data is disconnected because service is unavailable.
Do I have to flash a different radio, firmware or just give in and switch to Telstra?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

My phone has big problem - "No SIM Card"

Hi,
I had an OTA firmware update about a week ago and all seemed fine. Then a couple of days ago, I started to lose reception... and was unable to make/recieve calls. Initially I thought it was a network issue, then I discovered my work phone (also on Orange) had perfectly good reception. I decided to change network settings (GSM-WCDMA) and no luck. Then I thought I will change SIM cards, and now I get "No SIM card in phone". The original sim card works fine in my work phone, but no SIM card works in my HTC Desire!
Im pretty certain it has something with that OTA firmware upgrade. Also, when switching the phone on it constantly asks me to reset the time.
Any ideas what I can do? The phone is unbranded from CPW.
Have you tried a hard-reset? I'm not sure of the exact procedure, but I'd try that first, or maybe reflash the de-branded ROM to it??
I know the Orange handsets that had been de-branded SIM-Locked the phone after being flashed OTA (search the forums and you'll see) and to get past this you needed to get an unlock code from htccodes (or another)...
Hope you get it working matey...
Orange and T-Mobile have just recently made a merger so all orange and T-Mobile phones are having issues with reception, as for your issues have you got a stock orange desire or are you using debranded desire? If your stock try rerooting using a goldcard and see if this helps any

[Q] Network restrictions after unlocking

I recently bought this phone on Vodafone (UK) which obviously came locked. I had it unlocked but there are still network restrictions on the device ie can't connect to mobile data on other services but I can call and text just fine. APN settings are restricted as well. Would it be best to try a different stock Rom? And if so, how:
Unlocked bootloader is something completely different to s-off
S-off does not give you sim unlock !
I mean, will trying to flash a fully stock Rom do the trick aa my stock is branded by hybrid carrier I bought the device from.

HTC 10 Unlocked, Used Sunshine for Verizon, Changed CID/MID, Process back 2 Unlocked?

Hey all...
I used sunshine to unlock and s-off immediately after purchase of my Unlocked HTC 10 and changed the CID/MID to make it a Verizon phone and flash ViperRom.
Now that I'm traveling for work I need to change the phone back to Unlocked to use the LTE bands in another country (buying a SIM card in Japan), and also for it to to work back on VZN when I return.
I'd really appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction of the steps I need to take to perform this? Hoping I only need to change/flash a couple things to pop in a new SIM in Japan and pop back in the VZN SIM when I'm back.
Thanks all! Hopefully this could be useful for someone else in my situation. I'd venture to guess it's somewhat common...

I've used my VZW 10 in Japan with a local data sim card without issues. Check the operator you're interested in over there and make sure your VZW 10 covers those bands. Else choose a different operator. Also your network settings need to be set to Global instead of CDMA, if I remember correctly.
With that said if you still want to convert back to Unlocked to be safe, just change your CID to Unlocked (or even superCID) and run an unlocked ruu from htc.com. This will wipe your phone so back everything up. Then once you're back home, do the reverse using one of the no-wipe ruus on xda. I would have thought you'd be comfortable with this already since you've done it once before. Am I misreading your question?
One piece of advice, if you chose a data-only simcard there from the provider Docomo (largest one in Japan I think) or one of their subtiers, you will likely have battery drain issues due to your phone constantly looking for a cell/voice call connection with the towers. There is a fix for it but only if you have Xposed installed.

Fantastic info, I appreciate it. I was looking at b-mobile (http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/index.html) because it would fit what I need (5GB/21 days/$30) but noticed the bands for them aren't supported by the VZW 10.
What company did you use?
Running an unlocked ruu from htc.com will basically make it a stock unlocked htc 10?
Another option is just getting a mobile hotspot for a bit more money and then can use my current rom... (http://www.globaladvancedcomm.com/pocketwifi.html)

I bought it from some stand at Narita airport called Telecomsquare. I just shopped around the many stands until I found a package I liked and which worked. Oddly enough the shop specifically said they don't support HTC phones, because of bands I think, but I still went with it and it worked.
Yes if your device is originally U.S Unlocked then changing your cid and mid back to unlocked and flashing ruu will work. You may need to wipe your radios after flashing the ruu as well to get rid of any Verizon radio settings.
Mobile hotspot is probably the simplest option if you're willing to pay for it. No need to fiddle around activating a sim card in a foreign airport

Unable to use Unlocked Sprint Phone with T-Mobile

Hello,
I have called Sprint many times, after they keep telling me it is unlocked domestically and internationally, I finally gave up. The phone simply says to contact sprint to unlock. I have no idea what to do. When I press UCCI Unlock it gives me an internal error(407). I tried flashing unlocked firmware (U1) But it does not work on that either. Tried booting up with T-Mobile sim inside, still same result. What to do?
Please help!
I had the same problem. I did a factory reset of my phone, and afterwards, the phone was automatically unlocked. For me, it seemed like a firmware bug.
Hi all. After the phone get unlocked, flash the U1 firmware and you'll be just fine. On the U1 firmware, T-Mobile is the only US carrier network that utilize the full potential of the U1 firmware, Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE. Verizon second with VoLTE, Sprint and AT&T no ? good on U1 firmware, only standard U firmware. Happy flashing

Can't complete SIM card setup

Hello,
I did a factory reset on my HTC 10 (sim free, carrier unlocked, bought in Sweden). Now when I insert my SIM card and try to complete the setup at the "Select your carrier" screen, all I have is 7 carriers from the Netherlands, no matter what country I'm in (have tried this in Sweden and Japan). Selecting these carriers never works/completes and I'm without network.
I was trying to fix the massive battery drain with Oreo by flashing back to a Nougat RUU before I realised I can't do this as I'm still S-ON. So I'm still on Oreo (firmware 3.16.401.2), and I assume there shouldn't be any SIM problems due to this. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help.
/D
