I recently bought this phone on Vodafone (UK) which obviously came locked. I had it unlocked but there are still network restrictions on the device ie can't connect to mobile data on other services but I can call and text just fine. APN settings are restricted as well. Would it be best to try a different stock Rom? And if so, how:
Unlocked bootloader is something completely different to s-off
S-off does not give you sim unlock !
I mean, will trying to flash a fully stock Rom do the trick aa my stock is branded by hybrid carrier I bought the device from.

currently on ariel rom, with an unlocked att gs3. would like to restore device to stock and upgrade to JB to sell on ebay. will switching roms or upgrading android version cause me to lose carrier unlock?
Anyone?
Which method did you use to unlock the device? (For example, standard SIM unlock, dialer code/"ServiceMenu" method, etc)?
The phone was used on t mobile briefly but I couldn't stand edge speeds. I called att and they gave me a code to enter after inserting the t mobile sim card. When you turn the device on with another network sim card it automatically prompts you to "enter unlock code"
No. Switching roms or upgrading android version will NOT cause you to lose carrier unlock.

T-Mobile charge £20. Also, reading on the internet, many are having probs getting the code from T-Mobile - waiting months and when code arrives does not work, etc... Don't really want to go through all this hassle with T-Mobile and also pay them £20 to mess me around.
Is there any way to network unlock the HOX without a code ???
Take it to a t-mobile store
I was on T-Mobile UK and sim unlocked it the day I bought the phone. The code worked on stock ROM. I'm using the phone on Vodafone now.
I had used http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk

If my device was originally AT&T branded but then bootloader unlocked, then S-off, and super-CID....... ... and now has latest developer firmware flashed with Custom 5.01 ROM , like LeeDroid's latest Sense 7 -- will that phone be "carrier unlocked" if I were to try to use another SIM like from T-Mobile??
I don't have another carrier SIM to test it -- planning to sell

No. SIM locking is separate from CID/MID locking. Unfortunately, since you have flashed the most recent firmware, the one hack that used to work is probably unsafe to attempt at this point. Instead, you will need to get an unlock code from AT&T or buy one from a service. (or inform the buyer that it is still SIM locked to AT&T, but that's going to cut the value a lot)
Hi all. I have purchased a second hand 10 locked to Telstra and have tried everything humanly possible to get it to accept a Vodafone sim. It is currently running the 1.95.841.3 firmware (Telstra stock) and is driving me bat **** crazy.
I have even given in and paid Telstra $25 to unlock it. The only drama is when inserting the Vodafone sim upon rebooting it doesn't offer up the option to enter the sim unlock code.
I have sporadic connectivity with no data connection, and trouble registering on the Vodafone network.
I have unlocked the bootloader, it's s-off and I have successfully changed it to wwe and unlocked us variants, tried the latest viper and eventually resolved to flashing back to stock rom.
Every thing I have tried still has the same issue. Mobile data is disconnected because service is unavailable.
Do I have to flash a different radio, firmware or just give in and switch to Telstra?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've tried two separate Vodafone Sims and both have exactly the same results
Has anyone flashed the retail/retus image from mirrors.lolinet.com on this to use with a different carrier? Boost requires you to use their services for 12 months before you're eligible for network unlocking
It will most likely work
I can confirm that flashing retus to the Boost variant works fine to unbrand the device.

Any issues with connecting to the network or lte? Or is everything running like it normally should? Cause if so that's very interesting

Worked fine on the Boost network when I tried it.
Flashing RetUS firmware
Earlier this month I picked up a Boost Moto G Fast. I was disappointed to find how much bloatware came with it and that it doesn't include WiFi calling. I have not unlocked the bootloader while I decide if I want to keep this phone or not.
I just downloaded RetUS firmware from lolinet.com.
Do you have instructions for flashing this firmware? I couldn't find any for this phone so I was planning to tweak the instructions for flashing the Moto G7 series at https://forum.xda-developers.com/g7-power/how-to/guide-moto-g7-power-supra-flash-to-t3927138
Any idea if I can flash this without unlocking the bootloader? I'm assuming the factory image is signed by Motorola and should be accepted by the bootloader without unlocking.
Do you have to wipe userdata after flashing or can you keep your apps and data intact since the firmware should be the same version?
Does the RetUS firmware support WiFi calling?
I'll probably be able to answer these questions myself soon enough but I thought I'd ask first.
So after flashing the retus firmware myself on my moto g fast from boost mobile, inserting my active SIM card from tmobile did not work and the uicc said it's still lock to sprint network so I don't believe we can get network unlock simply by flashing different firmware on this

I found instructions for flashing Sofia here, should also apply to Rav: https://www.droidwin.com/install-stock-firmware-on-motorola-g8-power-via-fastboot-commands/

Nope. I bricked my phone trying. Do not attempt to flash anything without unlocking the bootloader first.
Flashing the the firmware doesn't remove the carrier lock. Currently have mine on RETUS stock and it still says it's on the Sprint network and the software channel says "Boost."
Unfortunately it doesn't look like there is anyone out there able to unlock these devices either.
I also been trying to work with this...no avail. So far:
Unlocked bootloader since unboxing in December...thanks Motorola developers..
I lost count on how many times I bricked this phone.... probably 7..
I sent it over to MX last month to see how it behaved. They couldn't activate. "Phone is too new'...WTH..
Now is sitting on my night stand. With games apps, Kodi...just waiting to be flashed again. PS: I hate you boost mobile!!

I switched away from Boost back in December and recently switched back, so now I can answer this question. No, the RetUS firmware does not support WiFi calling.
