hello, i just tried this tuto
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755903&page=4
but could not do it several times as described in the tutorial...
i charged the desire while it was on until the led light turns green... then i powered it off and charged it.. the led light became green after only a few minutes... so i powered it on.. and then switched if off.. put the charger but led light remained green.... so couldn't repeat it several times as described in the tutorial...
then i started using it... i lost like 1% every 1.5-2 mins of internet browsing... is that normal??
playing games like super mario on tigergba for 1 minutes drains like 1% of my battery..
is that all normal? so overall after 10-15mins of use (internet and gaming) i lost like 9% to 10% of battery... normal?
YMMV depending on conditions like what software your using, what's running in the background, live wallpapers, updating widgets and radios... Can't really say whats normal, my phone lasts about 2 days with just Bluetooth (car), three email accounts downloading every 5-15 mins and a few other things. Either carry a spare batt or change your usage.
no live background and wifi always on... that's it.. i am not even put a sim card on it yet... so not using gsm..
Is the phone/batt new? May take a while for it to reach full capacity... Also, you could try re-calibrating the batt through AmonRa.

what is Amonra? i have put my sim card on it... yes the phone and batt are new. have used it a couple of days now(about 8-9 charges in all now) and i lose 4% of batt after 2hrs and 07mins of phone on (and about 21mins of wake time)... without doing nothing... only standby.. everything turned off, wifi, bluetooth, everything.. i just want to know if the battery consumption is normal?
p.s. i also have a static wallpaper and my brightness is about 10%
4% of battery consumption in 2hrs of standby seems ok right?
To check ur battery usage, put a sim card in it and leave it in idle (Wifi off, data off and auto sync off) and No call/sms.. just locked and idle and you should lose only 1% per hour... if you are losing more like 3-4% every hour, then some process running in the background is using up the battery..
Use this as a measure to check your battery drain.. It always works for me
yes i Tink the battery is the cause

ok so 2% par hour is too much? i have everything off with low brightness and no live wallpaper.. i have advanced task killer and task xp and swipe panel running in background... maybe they are the cause?
update:
up time : 4:24:50
awake time : 0:29:05
battery : 95%
have done nothing apart just look at my contacts, navigate through menus and browse image gallery
The battery consumption seems right for me but i not really sure as it's my first smartphone
2% is not abnormal. 1.5% per hour is alright.... What rom are you using and have you overclocked with setcpu??
Edit: and a small advise.. Dont use task killers to kill off apps. Let them be. Just exit from an app using the back key. Use task killer only in an extreme case where an app hangs up. Otherwise android will take care of apps just fine.
and enjoy your smartphone... I try to use it maximum and charge every morning.. it is a beautiful device
If you use advanced task killer that could be an explaination for higher batterie drain. If you use android 2.2 or above then you don't need it.
Also do you have amoled? If you have a white screen showing on your phone your batterie drain is much higher then with darker colours.

ok thx for the advice. i am on stock froyo. I have set auto kill on advanced task killer.. i should disable it? and any good app to switch between apps? i am using task xp.
update : 5h45mins of standby and 6% of battery drained. about 1% per hour.. hence i think it's normal thx the advice anyway
I've noticed a sudden decrease in standby battery life on my Note 2. The "Running" tab of the application manager reports no new apps, though (bad facebook update? they're known for this kind of stuff).
Anyway, it would happily spend 8-9 hours in standby while I was sleeping with 7% battery loss. (Bluetooth, 3G, NFC, S-Beam, Power Saver off; Mobile data, WiFi on)
Now, it barely got 1 hour and 47 minutes with the last 5% of juice.
Running non-system stuff:
Viber
Kik
imo
Formspring
Facebook
SwiftKey Flow
Any idea about the sudden change?

Try to use better battrry stats to find out whats the wakelock while in standby time. And use cpu spy to check you devices in full deep sleep while in stand by mode.

So what kind of battery life are you all getting?
Got to go out and about yesterday so I used my phone pretty moderately.

not good -,- wait for a better cooked ROM
Good enough!
Completed my first charge-discharge cycle (100% to 1%) on ZL. Standby drain is negligible which is pretty good! Here is the screenshot below (5hrs plus screen on time is good with moderate use = approx 1hr 3G data browsing, 40 min calling, 1hrs music, 45min hd videos, browsing pics, camera use, play store etc.)
All stock rom (not rooted) build 10.1.A.1.350. I haven't had time to update it, will do it tonight.
P.S - Screen brightness set at 30% with adapt to light checked. Stamina mode off.

Update
Hello everyone! Having posted the battery life report about 10 days back, I thought it's about time for an update on the battery life after few charge-discharge cycles. I am consistently getting 4.5 to 5.25 hrs of screen on time with about a day's standby with moderate use (no gaming). I don't know why many people @ XZ forums are complaining about battery life. Below are few screenshots showing the last cycle (100% to 1%) of battery use.
I managed 5hrs &11min screen time with 30+ hrs of standby with stamina & low battery mode on, screen @ 30% brightness with adapt to light checked. It includes:
- 3.5hrs of wi-fi (web browsing via dolphin, google play, app updates, facebook, gmail, email etc.)
- 1 hr of calling (on 3G network)
- 1 hr album viewing (including camera use)
- 30 min music playback (via earphones) with screen off
- 20 min hd video playback
- 10 text messages
I noticed that I get better browsing time with dolphin than the default chrome, and with Wi-Fi use than with 3G data. I could manage only about 2 hrs 40 min of web if using 3G data instead of wifi (with similar usage as above).
Currently on stock sony rom (build 10.1.A.1.434 India), with stock kernel, stock BL (locked), not rooted. I've only disabled a few sony apps & bloatware which I don't use. No battery tweak or mod used other than mentioned above.

Mediaserver is chewing up too much battery. If you are using a MicroSD card that has been passed among multiple phones, it may be a good time to clean it out and simplify your folder structures. Cards with too much clutter and junk data can cause Mediaserver to run excessively.

weird It's a brand new memory card I'm using...only has videos and music on it...
You ever get that battery life issue figure out? Was it the external memory card?

I ended up doing a factory reset, because my notification led was not working. That solved the media server using too much battery, really strange...anyway it's solved now.
Cool thanks for the heads up.
Hi Guys,
I would like to ask how much on the average does your media server consume in terms of battery life.
Thanks

for me it's between 18% to 21%....
Anyone installed and checked Better Battery Stats? I notice that the biggest kernel wakelock is from msm_hsic_host. I'm seeing around 17%. The N4 forums have several posts about this (unsurprising as same SOC) and it seems to be concerning modem handoff from the qualcomm chip. Not sure if this is caused by heavy network usage from an app I’ve installed or whether it’s just symptomatic of having an external modem to the SOC.
What are other people seeing under kernel wakelocks?
The batt life is quite good speaking from previous note owner. With stock rom Iv managed to get 1day yesterday with stamina on, normal phone calls, lil bit of youtube, google, poweramp and stuffs... Inshort normal usage. And today im trying to get it again, or maybe more.

I have been noticing some significant battery drain in standby mode, seems to be related to the wifi. Keep wifi on during sleep is set to only when plugged in. Battery drain shown here: http://imgur.com/a/eBi7L#0
I charged it last night to full, and it's been in my back pack for ~6 hours, in a room with wifi. But I didn't use it for 6 hours, and i noticed battery percent went to 85% (~1m of screen time). For some reason, it looks like the wifi is constantly turning on and off.
I do have 500 firepaper as my live wallpaper if that matters
Exact same problem for me. No wake locks showing in betterbatterystats but high "tablet idle" drain even without having wifi turned on...
try disabling google now
Disabling Google now won't solve anything...
15 % for 6 hours isn't bad though. That's what mine does about. Just an app is syncing data, let that be emails, Facebook, whatever. Turn down sync frequency to save a little juice.

Don't know what your wifi settings are but you can try "Scanning always available" off, change "Wi-Fi frequency band" from Auto to 5GHz only or 2.4 GHz only. Changing those settings has helped me. I see less battery drain not using Google Now and you can try it yourself to see if you see any improvement. All of the google apps I don't use I have disabled. Adjust all of your sync frequencies. If you are rooted you can use BetterBatteryStats to see what is waking your device or if there is another culprit causing your wi-fi to power up all the time.
I have the same problem: high battery drain with 'Tablet idle'. After a full reset the tabled lasted 1d17h on battery with 4.5 hours of screen time, screen battery usage was 29% and the rest was 'Table idle' and little 'WiFi'. This started recently, an idle tablet could easily last 3-4 days and still have some juice, now doesn't even last 2 days. I would appreciate your suggestions!
Same for me. You can see there is no difference between wifi on or off. There are no kernel or app wakelocks. Really driving me nuts. Not Nice tot charge every two days without using the tablet at all.

I have the same issue. I'm on stock, unrooted. Google NOW off. Location reporting and other location related services off.
I noticed this issue for about two-three weeks. I'm suspecting this is Google Services, but I have no proof.
Hey everyone
I kind of looked through the battery thread and I see people getting 5 or 6 hours of screen on time on average. I'm only getting like 3 hours of on screen time.
I have my brightness set at the first brightness toggle setting and Wi-Fi enabled basically 60% of the time and I use mostly Facebook messenger and play clash of clans a little. I also disabled a lot of stock apps that I do not need. Is 3 hours normal for my usage then?
Thanks

Well, first off, facebook app itselfs drains a lot of battery as it constantly polls for information. If you game a lot on the phone, it sucks the phone battery as well. Uninstall both of this app and you'll see the increase in battery life
If you want more help and you're rooted, download wakelock detector and gsam battery monitor and post some stats here
