Moto G5 supported languages - Moto G5 Questions & Answers

Dear xda-ers,
could someone provide a list of the available languages on the G5 or at least tell me if hungarian is available?
Thank you.

Isn't that more an android related question, than a specific motorola?
In my language settings (i'm from germany, so it should be the "EU"-Version) there's no option for hungarian.

Did you check for "Magyar"?

My illiteracy is luck for you- there is an option for Magyar!

Languages we should keep

Scoot and I are wanting to pare down the size of the all language Cyanogen release builds. The best way to do that is to obviously remove some languages. These are what we have discussed keeping so far. If you have a need for one that is not listed add a reply with the language you want to keep.
English
Spanish
French
German
Dutch
Italian
Portugeese
Arabic
Romanian
Russian
Polish
Czech
Hebrew
Chineese
Greek
And I know I am missing a few so please do request them!
Does anyone use vietnamese, chineese, japanese or korean? I know typically people in those countries already have phones better than our kaisers lol.
Edit: Due to the large list of languages that we need to keep. I think we should do a Eurasia pack, English,Spanish and French and all languages as per suggestion earlier. That would be do-able.
Part of why its so huge our builds are... well look at english for instance. There are like 10 different versions listed.

I wanted to go for that idea a long time ago but it doesnt work that way sadly. The support has to be compiled into the framework. So at the time the build is compiled you get to choose what languages but thats it.
thats a shame, this would strip down the builds a lot... ill stay with the eng then
Dutch, of course !! brought to the world such nice words like: apartheid, boss and expressions like: to go dutch...need I say more ?? )

Can we add ebonics to this I want to get down with my homies

I like the way dzo did for Fresh Froyo, with multiple variants: US (English and Spanish), EU (Euro-languages), and FULL (all languages). My own personal Fresh Froyo build is english only, with one wallpaper, no live wallpapers, and no apps that I can install after installation. A small /system means we can have a larger /data partition.

Added Greek,Hebrew and Chineese to the list. Added a suggestion for regional compiles.

Looking for peeps to help internationalize my app

Hey guys,
A friend of mind told me that he had good luck posting about his need to get string translations for his app on XDA, so here I am.
I'm the developer of Social Camera, the app that was first to let you upload your own videos to Youtube. In version 2.0 I am adding a slew of new features plus I would like to have translations for any languages I can get. My highest non-English hitters right now are French and German, but I'll take whatever anybody's willing to provide.
Please visit http://www.getlocalization.com/SocialCamera to help out!
Hi,
I can help you with bulgarian translation.

hm, not sure what you're referring to - i definitely do not know german. I was going to use Bing Translation API to do the work for me but as we all know human translation is much better it'd be great if you can do german!

I'm not sure what my plan is for the Marketplace entries in all these countries. Do you who are translating the app think there'd be value in also having a translated marketplace entry? or would an all-english one for these locales suffice? Otherwise I'll have to bug you all again for that when I'm ready to publish, or go w/ a Translation service like Bing/Google...
Thoughts welcome.

what I'm getting at is that when you create an app that is multi-lengual, when you submit the app to the marketplace you have to create an app listing for each language as well. I think I may go for auto-translate w/ that, unless people show willingness to help out there.
To those that have said they'll help w/ translations, just post your completed xlsx back to this thread, or e-mail it to me at [email protected]
thanks!
You already have spanish (spain) i can help with spanish (latinamerica). Let me know if you need it.
Here's the spanish file, feel free to modify it if anyone thinks it could be better.

looks like windows phone only supports one type of spanish, will this work for "es-ES" as it's shown on that table, or does it fit another language better?
Sure, it will be nice for es-ES. Not exactly the way people talk in Spain but I have no doubt it should be well understood.
Here is a bulgarian translation. I have to review it when the application is out and correct it.
I can help with the Market, when it's available in Bulgarian language, too.

wow, my apologies man - i went to look at which culture specifier to use for bulgarian and see that it's not on the list! I don't assume, either, that it'll work for another language ... sorry for the confusion! maybe if WindowsPhone supports bulgarian in the future I'll be able to incorporate it, though
I'll send you italian as soon as I can... Just quote Mattias Cibien (me) in the credits

[Q] Different nation = different OS?

Hei everyone. Here's my question: i'm italian and since the SGN won't be launched here until the firs week of december, i'd like to buy it in germany (now already available). BUT, if i buy the SGN in germany, will I have an operating system in italian, yet OPTIMIZED for the german language? Because I want that beautiful voice recognition to work like a charm ..
what do you think?
Danke!
Where in Germany it is already available?

This. ----^ I'm dying to know.
in android you change the language in settings language, and everything in the UI uses the language chosen
it's 1 OS, for every body
it just depends if it has your local language or not

Nowhere, but dispatch should start at November 24th. I pre-ordered my GN by Home of Hardware for example.
@OP: As AllGamer already said, if you change the system language, every aspect of the UI is changed, including voice recognition. I tried this myself when I tested iris because it only understood me correctly when I changed system language to English.

[Q] Japanese language support

Hello, does the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 have Japanese language support? I don't plan to customize the ROM. Thanks.

Hello, I have tried three different units at three different stores. Under language, I could find Chinese, Korean, and lots of others. However, I can't find Japanese. Could anybody please let me know how to change to Japanese? Thanks.

Language

I have this problem with the Google Pixel 3xl. I prefer only US English but no matter how I try I keep getting my local pigen English in some of the applications. I followed the procedure and changed the prefared English to US but I still get this local language on some apps. How do I get only US English on this phone?

Are there more languages than just U.S. English installed at settings -> system -> languages & input -> languages?
The problem apps, are they regional? Is it possible they are programmed that way and not relying on the device language?
I really cannot say, but one of the application is Mapmyrun a sport tracker and I guess that could be from the US

That's a pretty main stream app. It does or does not use the locale correctly?
