Any successful SIM swaps currently? - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

Has anyone been successful shuffling SIMs after being hotlined, and currently having Verizon service? I'm assuming Verizon notices any SIMs activating in the N7 pretty quickly, but hoping I'm wrong. Anyone?

I have been hot lined 3x. 1st time I waited a few days and activated with no problem. 2nd time when I went to activate, the sim wouldn't work. So I clicked Verizon's "free sim card delivery" button and had a new sim sent to me. It came I popped it in and voila my n7 was back in business. The 3rd time was only a week ago and after I realized they hot lined me again I called had my n4 activated, hung up, and reactivated the n7 I'm using now without problem. Will this happen a 4th time? Probably. But not for a minute at least, so no they won't notice right away if ever. And nothing to stop you from doing what I did.

Thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for. I have my previous phone activated after being hot lined, and am using N7 with a prepaid carrier, but the service is severely lacking. I was thinking about putting in the previous phone's Verizon SIM in, but don't like the sudden de-activation that happened originally, especially if it might only be a day or two. Also was not aware of the free SIM card on Verizon's site. Good to know. Will definitely re-SIM my phone this weekend!

Nexus with Bad Radio? Or Attitude? I still love her!

Woke up this morning and told my love, "Good morning! I'd like to send a text".
Guess what? She just went full retard and could not hold a signal.
Throughout the whole day, I tried restarting, pulling out and putting back in the T-Mobile sim card, but it doesn't hold even 1 bar longer than 3 seconds.
The problem is within the phone. Why? I tried different sim cards in, it doesnt change the result, it still doesn't want to acknowledge any mobile network. My sim card works in other phones though.
I also reset/restored the phone twice. After the first time it worked fine for a 30 min, then went dumb. Second restore, nothing....
So I ask, is there a solution to my phone's inability to connect to a mobile network? Or should I get a repair from Samsung's warranty?
- Thanks

Thanks. How would I found out if the msid is culprit or not? Also the service state keeps switching from "out of service" or "radio off".
spare yourself, get it replaced, maybe bad radio.

[Q] Unable to detect sim card

I bought my note 4 on launch day. Ever since then I've had an "unable to detect sim card please restart phone" error. At first it only showed up once every few days, but now it is getting more and more frequent and is happening multiple times a day. After reading starting the phone works fine for a while. I've done everything I can think of (pulling the battery, pulling and re inserting the sim, cleaning the sim), but nothing helps. Anyone else having this issue, or know of a solution? Thank you.

I am having the same issue. Not sure of a fix yet but it is getting more and more frequent which worries me.
Same here.
Same here! Anybody contact Samsung or Sprint about it?
Same here!!!
Just got my note 4 from Amazon.com. I had been reading about the lte to 3g call drop issue, and someone posted using there sim the card from the phone they were replacing fix this issue. So I put mine in from my s4 before i even turn it on for the first time. The phone worked, but was unable to connet to the 4g (lte / spark ) network. 3g worked fine. I got the message you all are getting (no sim, restart device....). It would happen like every 10 minutes. Once I put the sim that came with the phone in , all my problems went away. Long story short, you need another sim card.
I just called sprint and they are sending me another SIM card. It happens from time to time, but they did tell me if it continues, I can get it replaced for no charge.

This happened after my sim card swap. It would say "network did not respond in time" then "could not detect sim" then phone would reboot. It did it three different times. Then connection became stable and has not done it again. Not sure if these issues are the same as whats happening here. Just posting my experiences.
I actually bought 2 N910P. I planned on making a little extra money by selling 1 of them, but didn't count on the N910P being so easy to get, so I've held onto the other one for a back up until I found a ROM that I wanted to run on it. Well, I found a awesome ROM & booted up my 2nd N910P & got the message you have all mentioned. I thought it was strange, so I rebooted & got the same message again. After doing this a few times, I thought why not take my SIM card from the 1st N910P & put it in the 2nd N910P. I still got the same message after doing this, so I swapped them back before it messed up my primary SIM card. @Yoshi1221, please keep me/us updated if the new SIM card works for you. Has anybody else got a new SIM card? Also, after installing the 2nd ROM that I was trying out, the fingerprint scanner stopped working. I went back to stock & it still doesn't work, so I made sure that I did a full NANDROID backup on my 2nd N910P in hopes that once I get it working & the fingerprint scanner stops working, I can go back. Anyone else had this trouble?
Edit: I tried to activate my new GN4, but the DEC & HEX numbers were not recoginzed by Sprint.com. So I went into chat & they informed me that it had been turned over to technical support & to contact them again after 24 hours, so we'll see where it goes from there.
Update: Chatted with Sprint & the lady activated the SIM card after giving her the number. Hope this will help out. Just go to Sprint.com & click on the chat button.
Looks like new SIM card is working, but just got it today, seriously had to give up an arm and leg in order for sprint to send me one, but so far it looks like it is working, but just got it today, lol

Cool, glad it work out for you.
Also found out from a supervisor in the U.S that sprint is now selling GSM phones now. If you take out the SIM card and only receive 3G, you have a GSM phone, if you take out the SIM card and have spark/LTE, you have a CDMA phone

I had this problem. Sprint sent me a new sim. Fixed the problem for a few weeks but it has returned. Anyone ever get this figured out?
Sim card not found
I had forgetten about this error. Saw that someone suggested a piece of paper between the sim and case cover. I had this happen with a phone I got off a forum. Sent it back and got a replacement. The paper, no matter how thin or thick may or maynot work, and only for a short time. Changing the sim might not work either. You may just need a new phone. I went through all with a s4. Now my note 4 is doing it. I thought it was my recently deceased (July 4) mother was messing with me. One more errand to add to my list for today.
same here?

Verzion note 7 activation, switch

I am heading to New York in early December for a few days. I have a Note 7 as my primary phone. I know i cannot take it with me on an airplane.
I was considering switching to another device but am afraid that when i go to switch back, it won't work.
Another idea is that on the Verizon webpage it has the option to let you switch phones between lines on your account. I could switch phones for the few days and switch back afterwards... but the same thing... will it not work when i attempt to switch?
Has anyone with Verizon as their carrier tried this or something similar?
thanks
p.s. This post is not an invitation to the haters and trolls who comment worthless things about turning the phone in. Go back to your safe spaces... the grown ups are talking

You can switch the SIM back and forth. As long as the IMEI on the Note 7 is not blacklisted it will work. I still have my Note 7 and I got an LG V20 and my SIM is in my LG G3 and I can switch between them all no problem.
Don't you have to call in to have them activated every time you change to a different phone?

Why would you need to do that lol?
You paid for the phones and are paying for the service its your decision which device to use...I go back and forth between phones all the time..

I also thought you had to call in to Verizon. SIM switching without calling would make it a whole new ball game. I would have been afraid you'd never get it reactivated if taken out of service at all.
Just sim switch and let it complete it's provisioning steps. You only need to call if there is an issue with the 4g sim not provisioning. Then they can add it on manually. Ill be doing that with my n4 when traveling.

I was under the impression that any time you moved a sim from one phone to another you had to call Verizon for them to activate the sim on the phone you switched to. Pretty sure I am not the only one who thought this. If you can just swap the sim between phones, well of course this would be nice and make keeping the N7 as a daily driver and switch to a different phone when flying or travelling doable.

Well Im in canada and no such BS exists here...that sounds completely unreasonable though
I'm experiencing the SAME issue. Yesterday there was a snow storm here in NY and while I was playing games on my note 7 out of nowhere my data went out. I checked through "Mobile Data" settings to ensure it's on, toggled airplane mode, restarted, even pulled the sim and put it in my Note 5 but I'm experiencing the same issue.
My next step was one of two options:
A) I call verizon to re-activate my Note 5 with my SIM I swapped in from the Note 7 (but i'm afraid they'll recognize I still have my "refunded" Note 7.
B) Edit the APN Network information cuz .... idk I was trying "everything"
But, as teegunn said, I have to call Verizon to have them switch my account to my note 5. I checked their website and it wont let me do it through there, it says to call.
Anyone ever figured out if we can swap here in the US without an issue?
I love my note 7 too much to let it go....

I was hotlined (for the first time) on the 30th... it took multiple online chats, phone calls, and ultimately a trip to the nearest Verizon store to get a new sim card (they had cut service to both my Note7 sim and my Note 4 sim) to get up and running on my old Note 4. I waited a few days and, borrowing some confidence from @tricktaylor, used Verizon's online portal to reactivate my Note7, with the original sim card, like it was any other device.
I was hotlined again last night (at least, that's when I noticed it) and all it took was a quick online chat this morning to switch service back to my Note 4. I'll wait a few days before trying to reactive my Note7 unless someone reports back, in the interim, that the wait-time is unnecessary.
Im literally switching to N4 right now. Hope all goes well. I said I'm returning the N7 but i have no plans to. I don't know when I'll be switching back to N7, I don't want to go through this once a week. But at some point they'll have to give up and at this point I'll wait them out for spite.
---------- Post added at 08:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:37 PM ----------
Im back to n4... for the time being but I'm sure there's nothing stopping from switching back to N7 right now. At some point they will have to stop doing these imei checks. Stay strong they'll quit or someone smarter than I will come up with a solution on our side...
Screw it.
I'm impatient. I trimmed my Note 4 micro sim down to a nano sim. I'm popping it into my Note7. And...
IT'S ALIVE!
I gotta try that. I'm scared to cut mine. dont they still see its an imei of a n7?
I switch my VZW sim to at least 5 different phones including the Note 7 and never had to call it in and it just works.

It appears as though they're not actively monitoring which devices are being used or activated, they are just conducting sporadic sweeps to temporally deactivate SIM cards presently used in conjunction with Note7's. Once the SIM is activated with a different device, or once the Note7 is activated with a different SIM, you're good to go.

So last I updated this I ordered a free sim from Verizon for my n7. They sent it I piped it in and it's working.

Rooted P3aXL, I reset wifi/mobile/bluetooth, now no LTE and APN won't stay!!

Hey all - long story short, my upload speeds today topped out at .13MB/s, so in desperation I called Verizon, who did some resetting on their end and talked me into resetting my wifi/mobile/bluetooth, which is in settings/system/reset options.
Since then, I've had no 4G and nothing has brought it back. Just did a factory reset and STILL nothing!!
Interestingly, when I open up my APNs, there's only the Verizon one, but it's never selected - even if I select it, still no LTE, and after a reboot it's unselected again. Also with this phone seems I can't edit or add APNs.
I am *absolutely* out of options - really figured the factory reset would take care of it!! I would be most grateful for any help you can give! Thanks in advance - can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
So fun story - on a whim I put the SIM of another 4G phone in, and works like a CHARM. So somehow resetting the wifi/mobile/bluetooth fried the SIM! I think I got one for free at the Verizon store last time this happened, so I'll head there first thing tomorrow!

So you put the SIM in another phone and it worked fine? I am pretty sure you just proved the SIM is fine and the problem is in the device, or it's configuration...
I have been through a dozen phone on one SIM, never had a SIM fail and I have only replaced it when changing carriers. Odd that this happened to you, and happened at least once before...
Nope, I put another phone's SIM into my phone

But you put your original SIM into another phone and it worked fine in another device? Or am I misunderstanding?
I am not trying to argue here, just understand...
No, I never did - I didn't try my SIM in another phones, but I did take the SIM out of my girlfriend's phone and put it into mine, which then immediately got a 4G signal, so I knew the SIM was the issue. Ran to the Verizon store for a new one, and the guy there said "whoa, that's a really old SIM" and I had to remind him what a SIM cutter was - I've had it a while

Question Got my fold 4 early, had to send it back! Bootloop?!

So the weirdest thing...got my fold 4 early (Friday the 19th) through tmobile. Inserted my sim card and the second it detected mobile data it went into bootloop. I tried all the troubleshooting
Wiping cache
Wiping data
Physical sim
eSim
But in all my years messing with tech, I've never had a new phone out of the box do this. It's my first Fold, but not foldable...so this is especially disappointing. It works totally fine on wifi tho. Other than that, I've honestly been so impressed with this phone!
Has anyone EVER had a phone do that...especially NIB?!
Can you add your number to an e-sim?
Be prepared though, if it does the same you need to get a new sim card from TMO!
nvm, see you tried e-sim.
Maybe flashing the newest firmware?

That makes no sense. It came from the carrier.
Got mine directly from Samsung yesterday and transferred my eSim with tmobile. No issues at all.

Nah, not a thing. Besides tmobile just followed samsungs lead when they started shipping phones early.
UPDATE:
Got a new one, all is well. Definitely didn't give me the most confidence tho. It reminded me of the days when you'd mess up and flash a bad rom and go into bootloop.
