My fiancee dropped her phone, and we paid someone to replace the screen. It's a new screen but touch isn't working properly. I can unlock the phone and then nothing else. They're saying that it's a software issue due to the ROM I'm using. Actually, they're saying that I have "two conflicting softwares on the phone" and that it's the reason the screen isn't working. I don't know if that's true or not, but I really need to get back to stock.
I'm using an AT&T Samsung Galaxy SIII but I don't know which "revert to stock" guide I should follow. I don't know what information I need to know beforehand and what I need to get to ensure I do this properly. Please help me do this the total proper way so they have nothing they can say when it comes to potentially screwing me out of my money.
Thanks so much in advance.
EDIT: I need to know if there's a way to check my ROM/baseband/etc and all of that without a working screen, I guess.
EDIT2: I believe this is the ROM I'm on -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684 as the file I have saved is called "aokp_task650_d2lte_kitkat_8.10.2014" and it's in the same folder as "gapps-kitkat_4.4.4_7.29.2014-signed" so ...
I should note I am incredibly desperate for step-by-step help, and I would gladly Paypal a couple bucks/buy something on someone's Steam wishlist for 'em if they can take the time to help me ASAP. The sooner I can do this, the more likely I won't get screwed.
Can you get into download mode? If you can, have a look at the download screen and let us know if you see anything about warranty bit.

I'm sure I can since the phone can turn on so all of the physical buttons seem to be working. She is not home with the device yet, I will update later tonight once I get it in my hands. This is just doing the hold the home button + power button + volume button, yeah?
Yes. You need to try and determine the bootloader on the phone before trying to flash anything.
I can get into download mode. It says ODIN MODE
Product Name: SGH-I747
Custon Binary Download: Yes (2 counts)
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Official
Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable
Downloading ...
Do not turn off target!!
What can I do from here to establish what baseband I am on?
P.S. -- as an aside, is there any incompatibilities with the actual physical screens between GSM/CDMA? I have an AT&T phone and they put the black-backed screen on there. Just wondering.
Thank you for your help thus far.
There is nothing on your screen about warranty bit which leads me to believe that the phone has an older bootloader installed.
Looks like you can flash back to completely stock ATT 4.1.1 using firmware from sammobile.com using Odin. Using Odin to flash back to stock will completely wipe out any data (pictures, contacts, apps, etc.) from the phone.
OK, I have found the firmware I need for my phone from there -- http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/9080/I747UCDLK3_I747ATTDLK3_ATT.zip/ -- where do I find Odin and instructions on how to flash to stock from there?
Here's a download link for Odin 3.07: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168421
Windows driver for Samsung USB phones: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2645355
Install drivers, open Odin, click on PDA and select the firmware you downloaded, do not check anything in Odin except F.reset.time, place phone into download mode, connect phone to PC, flash the phone, when you see RESET in the status window, disconnect USB cable, pull the battery, replace battery, boot into recovery, perform a factory reset/wipe, boot phone.
Hey guys me again, I have been trying since 2 hours to unbrick my 2 days old Galaxy tab s 10.5, After successfully rooting my new tablet I decided to make a back up of my stock system, I used TWRP recovery to do so, after booting successfully on TWRP, I wanted to make sure I will have a clean image, I manually erased every possible thing on my table by selecting every option on TWRP, once done and on my way to reboot, before quitting TWRP warn me that there wasnt any system, and even with this warning I quit. Result I bricked my tablet hopefully "soft", to get even better I remembered that I didnt had a micro sd card on my tablet and by consequence I must have erase TWRP and every possible restore solution, the table get stuck with the Boot logo and thats it... I can get at least into download mode,. I tried Kies 3 but Im getting an error that my device is not recognized and for Odin I do think is connected but I dont know how to use or what to install or what to do. And I don't get it why my program seems so buggy and I can´t select any of those options.
at least I could root my phone easily.
ps: I did try every possible combination to get into recovery mode and is just impossible there is no way.
if anybody rescue me I seriously cant thank you enough I googled around and did search a lot on the XDA forums, I'm now more scared to tweak around and make things worst , and maybe if not to late permanently dammage it.

Hey maxal, thx for replying, my English is really not the best, if you think its not understandable I will re edit and try again.
You will need to find and download your firmware from Sammobile http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T800/BTU/
and use odin to reflash your stock firmware.
Read this too. http://theunlockr.com/2014/08/09/how-to-unroot-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-s-10-5-wifi/
TURNING THE DARNED THING OFF:
Here's the problem. If you are at the Samsung splash screen or boot looping Recovery, you cannot turn your tablet off by just pressing the power button and you can't pull the battery. This prevents you from getting back into Recovery or download mode to restore your nandroid backup or use Odin
So here is what you do:
1) Plug your tablet into your computer (this is important!).
2) Hold down the home, volume down and power buttons until you boot into download mode. Once you are prompted, push the volume up button to enter download mode completely.
3) Now, once in download mode, hold down the power and volume down buttons (not the home button this time) until you screen goes blank (your tablet MUST be plugged into your computer for this to work!). Release the buttons and you will see the battery symbol on your screen. Your tablet is now off - thank god.
4) To enter Recovery mode, hold the home, volume up and power buttons down until Recovery loads.
5) Restore your nandroid backup if you have one.

I don't know which firmware you should have as I don't know where you are from, but I don't think it should make much difference, the firmware I gave the link for is the UK one.
Maybe someone else can help with a link for the correct firmware for you.

OK, Thanks.
But please keep in mind for the future that the load to your Tab better the original firmware that corresponds to its original CSC Region code. This can help you avoid some of the problems in the firmware flashing. How it may be defined, you can read in this thread:

Hi maxal,
Download via KIES will not check root If you do not connect the tablet to a PC. It only checks the serial number and model type of your Tab for search new updates firmware with determine the correct CSC Region code. You can even download the correct firmware by KIES to your PC without having to connect the tablet and then save the file firmware (this requires some tricks) and flash it via Odin. To do this, you need only enter the serial number and model type of the device in KIES menu Tools -> Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation. More details have here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58527780&postcount=5
In this case you no need connect the tablet to PC. It also confirms ashyx here:

Hi, I'm kinda new to rooting android phone.I just got a galaxy s6 edge from tmobile and I would lIke to root the phone. Searching around the forum but still doesn't ubderstand how's it work. So I got a galaxy s6 edge, baseband version G95TUVU3DOI1, come with 5.1.1 SMG 925T. Question is if I'm root the phone will i able to restore back to stock firmware, will tmobile able to find out if I rooted or not? Because I'm in Jump! Program and plan to switch new phone next year. And its there any easy step by step guide to root the phone. I don't really care about Samsung pay, would like to have fingerprint sensor if possible. Thank you
Before you do anything, understand that you WILL TRIP KNOX AND BREAK SAMSUNG PAY. Also, it is your choice to modify your device and this process seems to work differently for differnt people, so if anything happens, it's on you. However, there are several threads here that can help you if anything goes wrong
Okay, make a backup of all your stuff on SmartSwitch
You're going to want to download ODIN 3.10.7 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711451
Then you're going to want to download UniKernel v8 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...d-development/kernel-stockmod-kernel-t3100395
Open ODIN on your computer and don't touch anything yet
Then you're going to put your phone into download mode by turning it off, then holding POWER+VOL DOWN+HOME until a blue screen appears.
Press VOL UP to enter download mode and connect your phone to your computer with the cable that came with your phone
Wait for the little box at the top left to turn blue
On ODIN, click the AP button and locate the UniKernel v8 file that you downloaded before
Once you've found it, double click it to fill in the AP field with the file
Click START and do not touch anything until it's done.
Your phone will restart and once it comes back up, you'll be rooted. It can take several minutes for it to fully boot, so give it time.
Now, this is optional, but if you want a custom recovery to flash custom ROMS, download TWRP onto your computer from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...recovery-twrp2-8-6-0-g925t-5-1-1-of6-t3143002
Flash that file through ODIN using the same process as you used to flash UniKernel.
This recovery will let flash custom ROMs. I recommend XstreStoLite as it is very good on battery life, but you will not be able to use WiFi calling or VOLTE. You can download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...xtrestolite-deodexed-mod-edition-1-3-t3119968
Let me know how it goes.

Yes. There is a small chance, but the method I described is the exact same method I used on my device and I've had no issues. Even if you do, there is almost a 0% chance of a hard brick unless you touch something you're not supposed to touch, and if you do soft brick, there are a few threads here that should be able to help. More than likely flashing stock firmware will fix any problems you have.

Where are you getting the firmware from? What version of ODIN are you using? What port are you using in ODIN to flash the firmware?
There is a Mega download of the DOI1 firmware somewhere around here. I recommend downloading that and flashing using the AP port in ODIN 3.10.7, using the cable that came with your phone. This is the exact method I used to return to stock with no issues.
Hi All.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE (GT-I9195) which displays a White Screen when powered on.
The only thing that I can see is the SGS4 splash screen at boot and after that the screen turns to White. When I try booting into Recovery Mode, The splash screen pops up saying "RECOVERY BOOTING" and afterwards, the screen turns white. I can, however, boot into download mode which leads me to think that this is a software problem
I have opened up the entire phone and ran an inspection on the parts and they seem to be fine. I have tried flashing the JB software using a guide posted on this forum but it failed as I'm stuck on Bootloader v2 (Curse you Samsung) from the update to KK some time ago which makes it impossible to downgrade the OS.
Another thing to note is that the device responds to touch as I have an assistive light widget and it turns on when I tap the place in which I have it on my homescreen.
The phone is not under warranty anymore as my carrier only has a 1 year warranty for phones purchased from them and I would like to try and fix it myself instead of having to pay a sum of money to get this device working again.
I have spent several hours searching and have basically landed myself back at step 1 - with a non-working device.
I appreciate any and all help provided with this issue and will try and provide more information if needed.
Thanks!
Why don't You try to flash it with 4.4.2?? If You can see splash and nothing after that it's not related with screen but firmware or memory. Boot Your phone in download mode and flash it with Odin to stock 4.4.2. If it doesn't help Your eMMC can be fried. Unfortunately it's common issue in S4 Mini but the first time I've heard about white screen with fried eMMC. Anyway good luck.

Okay, so after getting around to downloading the files for my country (I chose the South Africa (Vodafone)) and trying to flash that, I'm now recieving an error near the end saying invalid ext4 image while flashing some hidden.img (something like that) file. After some googling, I found that I need to Flash a new Partition Information Table (PIT) with the OS because of different file sizes, however, I am unable to find that PIT file. What do I do now?
First try to flash different file. For example choose stock GB without any brand. Sometimes branded flashes are corrupted.
---------- Post added at 08:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:13 AM ----------
When I will be in my service center today I'll look on server for PIT file. I should have some.
Hi guys,
I attached my brand new Galaxy S20 Ultra to my PC and started Smart Switch today. The Software showed an update for my device so I downloaded it and started the update process. Unfortunately, Smart Switch got stuck during the update process at 68%. Nothing happened, cables and all still attached. It just didn't proceed any further for hours.
I decided to take the path of stopping the process, using the key combination shown on my device. It now said, recover your device software with Smart Switch Emergency recovery function. I started this and guess what: it also stopped at 68%.
I "rebooted" the device (volume down + power for approx. 10 seconds) and it starts again in recovery mode.
I manually filled in the recovery code and it seemed like Smart Switch was downloading the OS again. Started the recovery process and it is stuck at 68% again.
Now I am just super afraid that I bricked the device by using Samsungs original software.
Anyone her to help or have similar experiences?
Thanks for any advice on how to proceed.
Julius
What exactly were you trying to do? I mean normally you hook up old phone and use smart switch to update new phone. So why was you connected to a PC? It does sound like you bricked it.
So now you probably need to flash the ROM.
I read that smart switch is a good and valid source to check for updates. I never thought that an official Samsung software can be so bad at something so basic, resulting in bricking my phone...
Stop using smart switch to update your phone. You haven't hard bricked it because you still have recovery. It's called a soft brick. Download Odin 13.3_3B from here on xda. Do not use the 13.4 because it's suspected to have a fishy call back to a server from a dll that's in the program folder. Download the atch firmware for your model from sammobile or get it in this s20 ultra forum. You should be able to flash the new firmware.
Thanks @freebee269. Does flashing the firmware with Odin void my warranty or does this only count for rooting devices? (Sorry for stupid questions)

What kind of USB Port did you use?
Try again using a USB 2.0 port, Samsung always had problems with it's software and USB 3.0 ports.
Use USB 2.0 and try again.
Hi guys, i have a similar problem as (xReem).
Attached my GT SM-T515/10.1 tab to smart switch where the software was unable to recognise my device!? Was advised to use the Emergency Code function but i have no code due to backing up my data to sd card! I have Magisk and TWRP installed where my device was working beforehand, but since attaching to smart switch, my device is now totally "dysfunctional"!!!
Error message as follows...
...An error as occurred while updating the software. Use the Emergency Recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software. ...
Like i sad, i have no code!!!
I am able to get to the device unlock choice screen and if i choose to restart, my device always boots to the Smart Switch Emergency Code screen?! If i choose the device unlock or download screens, both screens are accessible! Tried to flash my original firmware (BTU-T515XXU3ASK5-20191224095700) using Odin3_v3.14.1 and twrp-3.3.1-6-T515XXU3ASK5-20200215 with no joy (Fail!)
Although i'm totally @"#$%* off about this, as its a new device, i am also curious if someone has ever cracked this... 'Smart Switch No Code' problem before. Hmm...
Anyways, any help appriciated...
Oh! Cannot access recovery at all...
Any help appriciated.

Did you ever get things working ? If not, when you flashed with Odin - did you use the PATCHED Version ? THis is necessary when flashing firmware via Odin on the S20 Ultra.....
You can download Odin 3.14.1_3b here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
Be sure to download the PATCHED version of 3.14.1_3b (it is located as an attached file at the bottom of the first post in the OP at the link above. Hope this helps.

No, to answer your first question, and yes used the patched version of Odin you state but with no joy.
(would another version of Odin be better for my device model?)
I just need to find a way to flash the original stock recovery. Having the TWRP installed as mentioned earlier is blocking my path, and I have now tripped knox! So no more options available to access the unlock oem screen. Now frp is off, oem is on!
Also, I was wondering if anyone had thought about a totally updated version of the old "ALL IN ONE TOOL" which was available for some earlier makes of phone devices? I think due to manufacturers security upgrades of today's phones we could all do with something like this?
I heard you can do a NAND/Reset wipe via the Odin options screen which would allow you to install a new rom???
Oh, my predicament was based on Julius's post, not xReem. Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry for your troubles - wish I could help you but you have done everything I would have tried. Maybe, if you haven't already done this - leave the phone on until the battery runs out completely. Then, recharge the phone for a while so the battery has some juice again and then get the phone back into download mode by pressing volume up and volume down at the same time - then plug in the USB - it shoul.d launch into download mode again - then try flashing again with the patched odin.
If you have already done this - then I don't know how what else to suggest.
I wish you luck and hope you are able to get things working again.

Hi guys,
I attached my brand new Galaxy S20 Ultra to my PC and started Smart Switch today.
Julius

Hey Julius, did you get your phone to work. I am having the same issue.
Update:
I am good now. I was using the thunderbolt cable that came with the phone and update would get stuck at the same point everything with odin 3.13 and 3.14.
I used a USB 3 to thunderbolt cable that I had from an older phone and it work.
What I used:
Windows 10 x64 1909
USB 3 to thunderbolt cable
USB driver downloaded from Samsung support. I think it is the same driver that comes with smart switch because when I installed it, it prompted
to reinstall driver.
Odin3 v3.13.3_3B_PatcheD from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572. ( I think 3.14 will work too.
I really think the cable was the only problem)
Firmware downloaded with SamFirm

Open Odin as administrator and if using a stock AP file always use the HOME-CSC of the same firmware in CSC slot. Sometimes Odin plays the fool and gets stuck.

Try with all slots filled but with CSC file not HOME-CSC. That may help as it flashes pit file to factory reset

(((SUCCESS)))!!! :laugh::laugh::laugh:
Done what you suggested by waiting until my battery ran out!
I downloaded a different software version and as soon as I plugged my tab into my PC with USB, i flashed the new software with no problems!!!
Flashed TWRP, Magisk and Multidisabler problemless the same!
The lesson learnt here...
...(ONLY FOR THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING)...
...is to probably only have 30% battery when flashing!!! This way you won't have to wait weeks for such a large capacity battery to run down, like I did!
I knew I'd crack it!
