Issues with RR 3/19/17 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Using this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/rom-resurrection-remix-m-t3399960
I followed the instructions exactly, and yes I know how to flash a ROM. I used to have a Nexus 6.
On the latest build there are a few issues:
1. Cannot login to Snapchat (says unavailable, after checking device status)
2. The OTA update menu crashes
3. Cannot remove startup pin, even after removing screen lock. I tried security settings, but the replace encryption password menu also crashes
Other than these it's pretty solid, and good battery.
(only posting here because it wouldn't let me reply to his thread)

1. Snapchat wont let login if your rooted at all
2. I never used ota so dont know
3. Thats weird
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Actually I was able to fix all of these by using the official builds: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...pment/rom-kernel-resurrectionremix-n-t3524715
EDIT: All except Snapchat, which I fixed by unrooting, logging in, and re-rooting. It only seems to check for root when you log in, so once you're in its good. However if you log out you have to go back through these steps.

I know a ton of people use titanium backup, but I honestly just can't even get past the design of the app. I hated holo when it came out, and hate it even more now that material is here. But it honestly is no real issue to me to log back in that way, 5 minutes tops.

I'm not quite sure how this is the "old way", its more of the manual way. But, to each their own. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Galaxy nexus gone slow

Hi. My phone (on Stock unrooted 4.1.2, didn't upgrade to 4.2.2 for no reason) has recently become very, very slow. I guess the reason for that is that I recently copied an MKV movie to it. Ever since I did that, it has been dead slow. Even though I have deleted it now, the sluggishness still persists. There's nothing else that I did (ever since this problem started), and please note, my phone was blazing fast before this, so I don't expect suggestions to flash a new ROM or kernel (because I'm a noob when it comes to flashing ROMs and stuff, and I will have so many more problems doing so). I think my phone can go back to the state on stock ROM and kernel.
Another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1988233) mentions the same problem, I've found out that I have the exact same problem. My phone wasn't sluggish before I copied the movie. But now that I have removed it, the phone is stil slow and sluggish*
* what does it mean when i say "slow and sluggish":
- pressing the lock button doesn't turn the screen on, i have to do it a couple of times
- apps take longer to load
- widgets don't load (most of them)
- everything that you can imagine (swiping, sliding, etc) is slow.
Help, please. Thanks in advance.
Clear the cache of the video player application that you tried to play the video with. That may help. Go into settings>apps>downloaded>your video app>clear cache.
If it's the Gallery, go into all applications instead of downloaded.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
It may be caused by installing too many RAM-hogging apps, if you're rooted you can try using Greenify from the play store and see if that helps.

I didn't copy the movie for playing, I copied it to transfer it somewhere else. And I've cleared cache of the video player MX Player just to be sure, and uninstalled it. Still no use.
One more thing. Apps are not responding, even stock apps. Once I open an app, it takes forever to load, and the message pops up: "<app> is not responding, would you like to stop it?" with the options "wait, stop, report".
All this has started ever since I copied that movie to my phone. Before that, it was blazing fast, no RAM hogging apps or anything.
How about you try to save all your pics/files you have on your phone, and do a factory reset? I know that's the highest you will go, but still worth a shot!

Okay, I found "Helium" to do the backup job just right. Now, how to restore?
P.S. Just updated to 4.2.2 to find utter disappointment (and more lag).

Old post I know, but the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have a SD card or any other kind of removable memory card. No Nexus device does.

This a known issue. The solution is to root the phone (NRT) and run LagFix (fstream). Android 4.3 has fstream already built in.

That's weird. I just looked it up from my 10.5 and it pops right up

When you install the app it warns you that tablets are not supported. Hope that won't cause functionality issues. Probably just a ppi thing.
Shame you can only have one account per device. They should open this up so you can sync your account across multiple devices.

1- clear ALL data from WhatsApp on your tablet (including the apk itself at the end)
2- install DataSync on both your phone and your tablet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quintstoffers.DataSync.beta)
3- re-install WhatsApp on your tablet and DON'T open it just yet
4- using DataSync, transfer your phone's WhatsApp data to your tablet (using whatever method you prefer) [tutorials on how to do that can be found on Google, look them up if you need to]
5- open WhatsApp on your tablet and notice how it doesn't ask you to re-activate your account on the device (for all the app knows, it's the same device)
I've done it like this on all my devices and i forgot about re-activating the account on each device, every single time I've used WhatsApp on either of them ^_^
PS- the conversations don't get synced on all devices unless all of them are turned on at the time of the conversations, but at least you don't have to keep activating and re-activating the freaking thing every single time you use it

Well, i haven't had to repeat the process yet and I've updated the app twice now, so I'm guessing as long as the data is there and it's an update, it doesn't affect anything, but we all know how developers can do things one way now and then change their minds... so for now, you're safe.

Brand new Note 7: "Your request has been declined for security reasons"

Okay. I have a brand-spanking-new Galaxy Note 7, exchanged at Verizon for my prior IED version. Good news is that I don't have to worry about my battery self-immolating. The bad news is that I'm getting these "Your request has been declined for security reasons" toast messages when I attempt to carry out various and sundry simple tasks, such as clicking on a legitimate link in an email in my Gmail app or tapping on "About Google Play Store" in the Play Store app. Are there some sort of Gestapo security measures added to the 2nd Gen Note 7 that weren't on the 1st? Is there a way to knock these down a peg? This is insane...to the point where I have to find creative ways around the block to get things done (such as copying the address from the link or button in an email and pasting it in a browser). It makes the phone considerably less user-friendly. What a shame. Any feedback or input here? I'd really appreciate it.
Note: I have seen things online for "FRP" when I search for that very quote, but I don't think this has anything to do with a "reset phone."
Thanks so much!
Never heard of something like this before. Solution? Root that *****, slap twrp on top and flash Ketan Rom M2, and unleash your Note 7 to its full potential instead of that stock crap

No, I have no anti-virus installed. This didn't happen with my first, shall I say "more volatile," Note 7, and I simply allowed Android and Google to simply restore the exchange device to precisely the same state (in terms of apps installed, etc.) as the original.

I don't know that it's a browser issue, as I'd also mentioned that it also happened when I tapped "About Google Play." It doesn't even attempt to access a browser. For good measure, though, I did poke around Chrome and didn't find anything that would be helpful there. [emoji20]

Just do a factory reset to your phone. Be aware of restoring backups. Maybe that's the source of your problem...

I mentioned the browser because every action you mentioned that results in that error is supposed to open a page in the web browser.

update to latest firmware or do a hard reset on your device..

I did. There are only 4 "backups," per se, that I restored: Aqua Mail (configuration), Business Calendar (configuration), Nova Launcher (configuration) and Authenticator Plus (accounts). Aside from that, Android and Google's native "restore apps" function handled the job 100%. It should also be said that performing the exact same procedure and restoring the very same backed-up configurations resulted in a perfectly functional white-battery Note 7 when going to it from my previous Note 4. That's why all of this is so confusing. I didn't do any tinkering. I know some here will probably say "that, right tbereis your first mistake," but I prefer to know I have a functioning device before I decide (or don't) to do any modifications. It might just be that I take it back to Verizon while I can and see if they'll let me swap it for another. Who knows? Ghost in the machine?

I have the AT&T version, no such issues (I know that doesn't help) what I would do as suggested above is wipe the phone and start over as new without installing anything from a restore. It's a pain but this will remove any possibility of carrying something over from your previous Note. I would think it has to be something in the permissions portion of an app, Knox or the O/S that is not registered correctly??
I think I'm going to see if Verizon will swap the unit before I do that, seeing as though I believe I recall seeing the message after a previous factory reset and before any significant restoration had taken place. What I can do on one phone, I can do on another, I guess. I may see if, after powering up straight out of the box, it gives me the same problem, I'll wipe it and restore everything manually, much as that blows. If it still operates the same way, well, I guess that will teach me that not every upgrade is an upgrade.

Google+ Contacts - Keep Contacts up to Date in Google+ settings Missing?

I am on the latest 7.1.2 Verizon build and I noticed when I did a factory reset that in Google+ settings, I no longer have the option under settings to keep the contacts up to date. This option would always keep my user profile picture under the phone settings to stay updated instead of a blank photo. Anybody else seeing this?
Yes, thank you! I thought I was going nuts lol
I just got a OnePlus 3t (my N5x put itself in reboot purgatory) and while trying to set it up, I couldn't find this option for the LIFE of me.
Any idea on how we can get this functionality back?
I really liked how it synced with my G+ profile pic and I never had to worry about it...

Google removed it a couple weeks ago. You have to load your own image under quick settings account now. As for tracking contacts where abouts you can do it through maps. But the person you tracking needs to set up who they share location with

I have resolved by downloading and installing the 9.5 version, you can then enable that option and let the app update

This fixed worked 100% for me. While it's a bit annoying way to get back functionality, there's really not much to it.
I also tested it by letting the app update from the Play Store, then changing my profile pic in g+ and it updated in android. Win!

On Marshmallow (6.0.1), I was getting "App not Installed" errors when I tried to install the old APK over the new one; had to revert the G+ app to stock (Settings > Apps > Google + - tap top right, then "Uninstall Updates") first to get the older APK to install.

I have the same problem on my Pixel XL running 7.1.2 (NJH47B).
The fix is fine at first, but stops working when I update Google+ to the latest version again.
Funnily enough, this doesn't affect my older devices running Android 6.x and below - my profile picture stays ok regardless of Google+ version.
Help, anybody?
Any luck for anyone?

Anything new ?
I've tried downgrading but as soon as the app is updated the pic disappears, I'm on a Nexus 6P 7.1.2.
The same thing happen on the beta version of Android O.

Same here, I have to use messenger version 189 to not make it crash. 190+ you have to disable Xposed to enter a chat without the app crashing.
Good for you. Do you have the new messenger UI?

Nope, and I could care less about the new ui tbh, it's just an app.

Probably that's why it works for you then. It will stop working for you too probably when you get the new UI. And that seems to be random when users get it

They've already started pulling the new ui because of bugs, but again this has NOTHING to do with Xposed. Unless you're dumb enough to use that module for messenger, then again it's still not Xposed it's the horribly programmed module. I'll end this thread, any of you willing to post a log showing Xposed is crashing messenger, I'll fix it.
I don't use any module. It just crashes for me if I use a newer version than 189. If I disable xposed, messenger works again. It's just not me having this problem: https://www.google.se/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/xposed/comments/9lj66j/help_xposed_crashes_messenger/
It's true. Newer messenger versions tend to crash on devices with xposed (regardless what modules are used).
I was not able to even capture a log of such crashes, which is very weird.

Grab Syslog from Play Google and drop the captured logs here so that it can be fixed. No logs no help

Did you even read my post?
I was not able to capture a logcat. It crashed without writing anything to the system log.
Not sure how the latest version behaves as I'm still on some older one.
(I am an xposed dev myself so I know what I'm doing)
