My Captivate Glide's screen does this whenever I turn it on:
I didn't drop it or get it wet, it just started doing this randomly.
I live in the UK and ordered the phone unlocked over eBay so I can't take it into an AT&T store, sadly.
Do you guys know if there's anything I could do myself or anything someone more experienced in repairing mobile phones could do to fix the screen?
This is bearing in mind that not many people over here have seen one of these phones though.
Any help would be massively appreciated. Thanks guys.
you was using still GB right? just flash ics via odin, with one click or with a tar file
This is UCLH2 without one click
http://androidromupdate.com/2012/09/...ota-stock-rom/
And here is the latest version with bug fixes (like keyboard light)
http://androidromupdate.com/2012/11/...ptivate-glide/
and there is for one click
http://www.androidauthority.com/captivate-glide-sgh-i927-att-android-4-0-4-ics-uclg9-leak-110365/
i think that only one click wipe your internal storage. but is the bes (in my opinion). try it, dont have anything to lose
No, I already updated it to ICS. Should I reinstall it? Will that fix the screen? How will I manage to do it with the screen all messed up?
if you can put in download mode, then you can. Its weird because i only see that problem with GB. Put in download mode and then reinstall
I just tried putting it into download mode but I get the exact same thing.
Thats weird, the problem is weird because it never happen to me in download mode, maybe you can try it without battery, or let the phone without battery a couple of hours, etc.
Dont Know what you cand o, because if you cant enter in download mode, you will be no able to flash ICS
Hrm... that purple splotch in the bottom left of the screen doesn't look so good... Almost appears as if it had been dropped on that corner at some point in the phone's history. I am tempted to say that is a hardware issue, though. Reminds me of when the flex cable for my laptop's display started shorting out many years ago. Might be repairable, but, might be a costly repair depending on what all needs to be replaced. I can't imagine replacing the software on it will do much, though, sorry to say. You could give it a shot, you can verify if your phone made it into download mode without the display by loading up odin and seeing if it detects under that, and then running the one click install (or any other since you'd have odin running anyway) but I wouldn't expect much.
If you're not getting the Samsung/Rogers logo screen, you're done. Either the screen is physically damaged, or the bootloader is corrupt. There's no saving that one, sadly.
yes, try what Artemis-kun say. put in download mode and connect, and see if odin detected. Or maybe just turn on the phone and wait a little, then try to call to your phone, if the phone ring or appears to be on, then is a hardware problem.
But try what Artemis-kun, maybe you have luck
PD: now i see better the image and it seems little different from what it happens to me. if you turn on, inmediatly happen that? or screen banish slowly?
AW: [Q] Screen's gone fuzzy and weird - need help please
There should be a cable, connecting the hardware to the display. Maybe it loosened, you should check out the video of a guy tearing his glide apart, hopefully youll find something to repair there.

Hey guys, you'll be glad to hear I finally fixed my Glide by installing a new screen assembly from Repairs Universe.
I dont know how to explain it but im having this issue with my phone where randomly it will just completely shut off. i can leave the phone for hours in standby mode (where u lock the screen and it goes black) and not realise that sometime during not touching the phone its as if it has turned itself off completely, when trying to turn it on i get a weird boot sequence and it can require me to vol - and pwr to get it going again.
eg; i put phone down and it locks and goes black like it should. few hrs later i goto pick it up and realise its shut itself down totally and i need to turn it back on. the battery % is fine too. sometimes it has been as high as 90%. ive missed alarms and phone calls due to this but cant seem to find anything about it and no idea how to fix it
Currently running the e975 with savvy rom debloated, rooted with CWM recovery however it does it on multiple roms which makes me think it could be a factory defect?
go to service!
very less phones have this problems, noone can say, why!
Try stock rom, unrooted and unlocked, for a couple of days. You might've answered your question yourself :custom rom.although it's based on lg,it still can be faulty.

i thought the same thing too, so i did exactly that and i have the problem on stock rom also. I dont get the issue when running non stock based roms like CM10.1 but i do get a blue screen "external modem crash" when i run those roms which i can only assume is kernel related
What i am trying in an attempt to get around this is flashing the latest illusion 4.3 rom (custom roms give me a external modem crash blue screen) and then flashing the stock hong kong baseband (modem) with it. this way its a standard baseband on a custom rom. the blue screen could be due to a different baseband not agreeing with my phone.
I have just gone ahead and done this and i get network activity (signal/data) fine so i know it works now its just a waiting game to see if i get the bluescreen or a random shutdown
The problem is standard roms shut my phone down randomly with no error report on screen (basically like the phone turns itself off) and the custom roms ive tried ( a few diff ones) cause me to get a blue screen external modem crash.
Ill find out in the next week or so if i get any errors anymore. If not then i have found a way to fix it and ill post it in the QA section for others experiencing the same issues

If you get it on stock you have a defect product, KDZ it to totally fresh and send it in on repair. Even if it happens to "work", it can be still crash/break later and if you cant return then for some reason they might see you have played around with it and your warranty is void. Better to fix it so it works from the start in my opinion.

Brand New Device, Its just been a Week...
I Rooted and Installed CM 11 Yesterday.... So Today,After watching some Anime Video's on it..I Left it for almost 1 Hour... Came back and tried to unlock it...Touch wasnt Responding well. And Phone's Screen was hot indeed.. So Even Shut down wasnt possible ...
So i used Power Button for 10 Seconds and Restarted... Phone Restarted...But again Phone was very Laggy,So Tried Restarting again...This time.... No Display nor any Touch Buttons were lighting up... Instead what i got were random Vibrations.... I tried to get into Download Mode,Recovery....... Yet no Response from Screen but only a Vibration from Device itself...
Any one faced this issue? Any Known Solution...? I wont get free Warranty as Device is from UK

Have you tried to reinstall cm11?
Try removing your battery for a minute then put it back without your sdcard or sim inserted. Then try getting into download or recovery mode

Totally my Device is Crazy
That means you CAN enter recovery? Try going in recovery and adb pushing a fresh CM image to your phone and then flashing it after doing a good wipe of your phone

I had these screen issues too... But for me removing the battery and reflash the Rom did it...
Seems like your new phone has over heated and caused some serious damage to screen and maybe gpu\cpu.
Seen this happen recently with a ROM I installed also. But pulled battery out in time. And installed another.
I always watch out for over heating when installing a new ROM. Usually a sign somebody messing with CPU clocks.
For your sake though I hope you got it in time and can flash another ROM.

Hey I've seen this issue too, one of my friends has a GT I9192 and I updated his phone to the latest stock ROM first it worked very good, but one day he was recording something with his camera, and then played the recording after that the phone shut down, and didn't want to restart after taking the battery out and trying again and again, it reboots and after 3 or 4 min turns off again. I flashed some other stock roms but nothing, when I get in recovery mode, after some minutes the screen goes all blue.
And sometimes when restarting it shows colored lines in screen.
Went to Samsung Costumer Care (Saudi Arabia) they say that the phone has been rooted (which is not true) cause the KNOX Warranty bit shows 0x1
I don't know what to do.
The phone was bought in Saudi Arabia. And I live in Europe
Could I send it somewhere in Samsung CS in Europe cause i heard that here in Europe the KNOX warranty bit doesn't affect hardware damages (which I think that this issue is a hardware damage)

Hello,
I have a problem with my LG G4 constantly rebooting.
I bought it in December 2015 from Taiwan and he got a bootloop issue on october 2016. After some mails sent to LG and the reseller, I managed to get an RMA and got it repaired in February 2017. But it started to randomly reboot several times a day, especially while low on battery. Since I had difficulties to repair it and that it was no longer under reseller warranty, I decided to keep it and try to buy a new battery but it didn't change anything. Two weeks ago, the problem got worse and my phone started rebooting whenever I turned the screen off. I tried to factory reset and update to the latest Android version but it didn't change anything. I also tried to get something with the logs but there was nothing really interesting.
Since I can't really send it back for repair, I would like to know if you could help me even though I think this is a hardware problem and it will be really difficult to repair.

Is there a permanent fix to the bootloop problem ? And I don't really have a bootloop problem, my phone is working well until some times or if I turn off the screen.
Also disabling the cores would make my phone almost unusable. I don't need to recover the data, I would like to have a working phone.

if youve tried restoring stock firmwares already seems like it would be more of a hardware issue that a software thing if u only disable the big cores with the phone is most def still usable

Ok, I will try it when I have time. I heard that disabling only cores 4 and 5 can fix the problem but I can't find a guide to do it :/

I've recently purchased a used Moto G5 (3gb ram version) from eBay. It's been working fine for a couple of weeks but has suddenly developed a fault, the screen will not stay on. It just constantly goes black / blank. When it boots the Moto logo is shown for about a second and then it goes off and will not come back on until I pull and replace the battery.
I know the phone is still functioning as i can hear it sat waiting at the encryption "enter PIN" prompt on boot up, it makes a click sound when briefly pressing the power button.
The only time I can get the screen to stay on is by booting to fastboot. However as soon as I try to boot system or recovery the screen goes off.
Has anyone else had this issue and is there any way to fix it?
Attached photo showing fastboot screen which is all I can get to without the screen going off...

You can try a flash, but I don't think there is a battery fault, if there any, bootloader also didn't show up, so there are possible changes of corrupt firmware in you device. And did you replace the original screen with other 3rd party screen. As that is also a reason, someone was having similar issue like you but, he has got the problem after screen replacement.so if you have done a screen replacement then that can be a problem.
