Has anyone tried to cast their Nexus 5x to the TV without using any kind of electronic device like chromecast and etc. but by just using the phone itself? If so, can someone help me out. I've tried many ways but it seems like my phone doesn't recognize my LED TV. It always says "No nearby devices were found".

I'm hoping someone who has the Ambilight or Lightpack setup on their TV will root a Fire TV and test running Prismatik. Prismatik communicates with lightpack leds to let them know what color to change to match on-screen content. The android beta requires root access to screen grab. The big questions for me are:
1) Will rooting the FireTV disable any of its features (i.e. Amazon Instant Video)?
2) How does the lightpack connect to the FireTV (or OUYA for that matter)? It hooks to the PC via USB.
I imagine that it will work similarly to the way it works with the OUYA but I'd like to see someone else make it work before I buy one. I am an Amazon Prime customer and I love the idea of the Fire TV but I would like to be able to retire the laptop that is running Prismatik before introducing another box.
Fellow Lightpack owner here, seconding the OP. This looks like it has so much potential.
Not really..
If you already have a HTPC( which i guess you do - because lightpack) there's a work around for this..
If this ends up working without any negatives I'm buying this ASAP. Looks great!

I don't have a HTPC but I've got an old laptop hooked up for that purpose. I am currently running everything through it via the workaround but I'd like to get the laptop out of the equation and just simplify with the Fire TV running XBMC, if it'll work.
I received my FireTV and can't seem to get the Lightpack to be detected. I tried on my Ouya and I am noticing that the popup screen that occurs when Pristmatik detects the Lightpack isn't happening on my FireTV; searching for a work around.
I've got a question with the native Screen Mirroring feature. On my Note PRO it just works. I connect to all my devices painlessly. Picked up the Note 4 last week and I have been unsuccessful in connecting it to -any- of my devices. I always get the message that it failed, and on the device it shows "connecting" but eventually times out.
I can use AllCast and Chromecast, no problem...Just unable to mirror my screen!
Anyone else having this issue?
Cast Screen.
Chromecast app has the Note 4 enabled for Cast Screen.
Just open the app and the option should be on the left menu.
Which is fine if a Chromecast is available, but is there a solution regarding the native mirroring feature found on the device? Say I'm at work and need to connect to a projector using screen mirroring and the projector doesn't have an input for a Chromecast. Maybe at my friend's house and trying to connect to his bluray... See what I mean?
I only had problems on the Pro after rooting (until a fixed kernel was released). It seems strange that a factory stock device would have the same problem. I have done a factory reset, but the issue persists.
I've used the native mirroring with a fire TV stick without any issues.

Sorry for double posting. Please delete this. Thanks!
it happen only Nougat when i was on marshmallow its works fineT^T
Mine is the same, worked in my Nexus 4 but Google seem to have disabled it in the 5X and it's a pain as we used to show photos on the TV screen instead of passing g around my phone. I've yet to find a solution
I tried miracast and it doesn't work to me either ..
So +1
Google killed Miracast in Android N.

Since the casting function is specifically made for chrome cast it won't work without it.
On the bright side, a chrome cast device is really cheap and will work with any device that can run chrome or chromium.
Just having a LED TV doesn't mean anything, is it a smart TV and if so what OS is it running?
I found this thread when typing in the title of my thread, but it doesn't look like they were able to get casting working on their Samsung TV.
I edited the build.prop, rebooted, enabled wireless display, and my Fire Stick shows up.
When I try to connect, it says that it's connecting for about 3 minutes, and then nothing. I'm able to connect my Nexus 6P to it, but no luck with the Pixel.
Edit: disregard. I had the VPN on my phone switched on. I have to turn off VPN connection for my phone and firestick to cast.
Hi all!
I have a long-standing problem with my Xiaomi Mi 9 SE: I have never been able to cast the screen of my phone to my LG smart TV.
The TV supports the functionality and the phone did show the TV in the list of available devices, but it would always abort with an error (on the phone).
Now I am not even able to try, as the phone does not show the TV anymore, in the list of available devices.
Anybody else experiencing this problem?
Thank you in advance
