Hey, I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a date where Google Assitant will be available in Ireland since it was already released in the UK? If not is there a way to get it manually instead of through the play store?
Updated Google Allo from Google Store now comes with Google Assistant. Just install Allo, long press Home button and you're good to go.

I'm trying to use Tap & Pay on my new M8 and it is being declined with a weird message, I called the wallet 24/7 support line and they said that the version of wallet on the play store isn't up to date for the new M8 and that the play store will not download the new release of 2.0-160-r2, instead it downloads 2.0-r155-v15 and says its up to date. He is escalating the issue to a higher tier but says it could be up to a week, I kinda need it now lol.
I guess my question is, does anyone know where I can find the .apk for version 2.0-160-r2? I tried googeling with no success, I can't even find any indication of a 160 update to the wallet app. Anyone have any idea's? Anyone else able to get tap & pay to work with your M8? If so what is your version of the wallet app?
Thanks!
Hi.
I recently got a one plus 3 but i cant seem to be able to get the google play services to work and the play store won't even open, anyone know what to do?
U got it like this out of the box? Factory reset i would say.
Hi everyone...
I just got the updated Google app, which is supposed to enable Google Assistant on all phones running Marshmallow and Nougat. Here is the info from Google's own blog...
https://blog.google/products/assistant/meet-your-googleassistant/
According to this blog, "To get started, touch and hold the Home button"
But... if I do that, it just opens up Google Now On Tap (like it always has).
Has anyone gotten it working on a stock S6?
Thanks...

I had the same thing on my S6 and couldn't figure out for the life of me how to enable the feature. I believe there's something server side Google has to do to enable it. Based on many of the press releases there would be an Google Play Services update and then it commented that Google would be rolling out the feature in waves.
At least I hope that's the case and we not excluded.
It is a server side switch.

Use the Assistant enabler Xposed module to get it working for now.
Google Assistant showed up on my S6 last night. One thing I did was join the beta program for Google Play Services. The only thing that I'm not a fan of is the removal of "stories to read" news articles. Otherwise it works quite well.
Updated to latest services apk (from apkmirror) yesterday. Got the assistant update this morning.
Mine just popped up with the prompt to set it up.. one day, it's working now. How do I get it to talk in the UK voice again? it's no longer an option
Edit: It is now an option after another update.
I had my google assistant before, but since I did a factory reset on my phone it turns out that I am now back at google now on tap. Does anyone here knows how to bring back the google assistant on our device? Note that I didn't do such things like getting the google assistant on 3rd party apps or flash some zips etc.
Where do you live? If you live in the US, the UK or Germany it will come back.
Sorry, but I am from the Philippines.
How is it possible that my device has gotten the 7.1.1 OTA, updated and yet no Google Assistant. I have tried everything, but yet when I long press the Home button Google Now on tap comes up.
PS: For your own sake those really smart people who will post links that will lead me to Google search results, keep it to yourself
I was having it in 7.0 but afyer upgrading my device no assistant is present.
From what I understand it depends if Google has activated it for your device and also what you have your language settings configured to.
Here is what I use: http://https://github.com/amirzaidi/Launcher3/releases
I am on 7.0. I got google assistant when i registered as google beta tester. And then its important to set your language to english.
Update: I just received the notification to enable Google Assistant and after the initial setup. I finally have Google Assistant! ?
It's popping up every time when I long press home button. I would like to get rid of it and gesture from bottom which brings up Google now. I'm not using none of them.

Change language in Android settings to English UK. After that if you long press home you'll get it.
