I've noticed that my XL tends to collect dust very easily when it's in my pocket. Every time I pull it out, I need to wipe it. I also worry that eventually the dust may cause micro scratches.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what do you do to deal with it?
I have a slim case that I use (which I've done with all my previous phones). Don't know if that is part of the problem. The dust usually collects on the front, over the screen and the lips of the case.
Got a screen protector? The phone is IP53 so dust will not hurt it.
I have mine in a OtterBox commuter case with no screen protector and I notice pocket lint stuck to my screen all the time as well. I don't have any scratches and I use mine with daydream.

I read that the gap between the bezel and the glass is to help with the glass expanding due to heat, but it seems to collect dust a lot and its driving me nuts. Anyone know of a way to prevent this or a slim case that covers the gap so dust does not get in there?
i don't see a problem with my phone, mostly because the case is hiding it all LOL
and even when i do take out the case, i don't see dirt collecting there
i just go blow it off easily with a gasp of air with my mouth
Mine too!!! Have 2 white specs in top left side and don't wanna stick something in there and scratch it... Annoying thing is that my d30 case covers everything up but that little damn corner where the power button is... Ugh

I just noticed this dust accumulating in there today. Hrm.
just puff it every now and then to prevent excess accumulation and prevent it from turning into dirt
this is between the bezel and glass .. so not under the glass right? this is a huge problem with my nexus one and don't want another phone where i have to deal with it
I use the body glove case from tmobile when I'm at work. My work enviroment is extremely dirty and very dusty. I mean to the point where you clean the area and by the end of the day there is a pretty thick layer of flux (lets just say dust) everywhere.
When I take my case off on the weekend my bezel is clean

The SAMOLED screens are fused to the class so there is no gap for dust to collect.
To get rid of the dust I use a stiff lens cloth damp with lens fluid and use a corner to clean. Works perfectly

dust between the bezel/screen common problem with any phone that has gap between the bezel and screen. like one person said, the digitizer is fused with the actual screen on Super Amoled screens. so dust shouldn't get underneath. However, screen repair cost more due to the fact the whole screen+digitizer has to be replaced instead of one or the other.
to get the dust out,I usually just take a very thin paper, fold it in half, and slide it. I've been doing the same method on my past phones.
I have the diztronic matte "clear" case on my white Galaxy S2. This case has scratched my phone's frame so much that it's ugly; although it doesn't look scratched, but dirty. Does anyone else experience this with their case? I know it's the case because the parts that the case doesn't cover (buttons, around buttons, and ports) are not scratched or dirty at all.
Is it because my phone's frame is clearer that the black version, (shiny as opposed to matte) thus more vulnerable to visible marks?
And lastly, does anybody know of a method to clean the frame? It looks like it can be cleaned but I'm not sure how
Thank you.

My case isn't a hard one, and I don't think its directly caused any scratches to the side of the casing. More in that debris (sand, small particles) have gotten stuck between the case and the phone and rubbed a bit. But the damage isn't too major.
If its plastic on plastic + dust/dirt/whatever your bound to get scratches. As for cleaning/removing them? not sure myself, sorry.
Here is my case: http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Flexible-Revision-SGH-T989-Packaging/dp/B005YEFM8M/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1344881063&sr=1-1&keywords=t989+case

take your phone out of your case everyday and clean it. Prevents build up of dust. Especially if your case is not very tight fitting.
I have the same Diztronic case, and it does indeed scratch my frame
Have a Ballistic case - no issues since owning it since about March. Take if off regularly to clean the inside rubber liner. The only issue where dirt/sand can get in is around the "lip" which isn't tight enough to seal the phone. The Otterbox that I used with my old HD2 (TMobile) was better and much tighter to the glass and covered all the ports. Had the hard plastic covering the sides/top/bottom which provided a better seal. The only problem it was a major pain to remove and eventually developed cracks in the hard plastic from installing and removing the phone.
Thank you guys. I guess I'll just use my case less often, that way I don't get more dirt/scratches.

Today a glass of water was accidentally spilled near my phone. I took my Spiegen Rugged case off, and as I was examining the back of my phone to see if water permeated the case, I noticed patches of scratches along the edges of the back glass panel. This was super frustrating because I've been extremely careful to constantly keep my phone encased and protected. I've been doing research, and I've read a number of proposed remedies to fix superficial scratches. I don't, however, see any testimonials validating their effectiveness. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or experience here? They aren't deep thankfully.

I'm just guessing, but I would imagine that a case that covers the back of the phone could cause issues if anything gets caught between the case and the glass. Then it would rub around inside, between the two surfaces, and scratch the back. It doesn't take much. Supposedly even dust has elements in it that are harder than glass and can sratch it. And a case will always have some gap in there (never being a perfect fit).
So I think some sort of plastic that adheres to the glass would be better, since nothing can get trapped in there and there won't be independent movement between the plastic cover and the glass. I never took off the plastic cover that came on the glass back on my Nexus 4 and have never had an issue (of course the plastic is worse for the wear after these many years).
Sadly, this sort of problem was to be expected since it has happened to every phone with a glass back. It baffles me that Google has repeated a mistake it already made with the Nexus 4 (and has also been shown to have issues on the iPhone 4 and Samsung's phones).
Anyway, if you're going to have the Spiegen case on the phone, then it certainly won't hurt to also adhere some sort of plastic protector to the glass part, since you'll never see it.

Thank you all, for this valuable information..
I really appreciate all of the thoughtful responses . I just ordered some d brand skins.. hopefully that helps with my ocd!
It is strange that you got scratches on the back glass panel with the case.
I have been naked and I don't see any scratches. The dbrand option is a way to go.
I can't wait for the marble version to come out.
I'm completely neurotic... I also purchased a rotary polishing tool, and cerium oxide (glass scratch fixer).. and I'm going to attempt to buff it out. I'll keep you all posted

This phone especially the screen seems to be a dust magnet...I keep cleaning the screen every often..what are guys doing to keep it dust free?
It's not a dust magnet for me tbh. Are you using a case or bare?

Personally, I keep it in my ass crack. It stays dust free, and also warm in there too. Maybe you could RMA it and get a better one, haha... Seriously? it.is.just.a.phone.like.any.other.

No Case=No Dust
When I see dust on the screen, I wipe it off, just like I did with every other phone I've ever had. If it gets in the speaker grill, I blow the dust out.

Yeah, it's a dust magnet for me too.
Always in the curves of the screen.
Oh well, to me!
I've noticed that my P2XL screen seems to attract dust more than any other phone I've used. I wonder if there is a slight static charge that builds up on the screen.
I'm using a case but the screen is naked. I have a TGSP on order.

I dont think u have inserted it far enough. Shove it in a lil further for the full effect. ??
Depends how dusty your house is lol
This is normal, I had the same issue with my Nexus 6P, I'm OCD about my phone so when I see dust accumulating in the speaker grills and around my case, I use a clean soft bristle toothbrush to "sweep" off all the dust, it works great.
Yeah this phone seems to be extra dust attractive and not just in the edge of the frame.. I was using S8 previously in exact same scenarios and didn't have to wipe it every single time I pulled it out of my pocket.

I never experienced dust issues with my Pixel 2 XL whether using it bare which I have for a month or two but now have a Zizo clear case with temper glass screen protector. Either way didn't experience any dust build up.
Btw if anyone is looking for a case and screen protector Zizo actually have really nice military grade cases. Now I can use my phone freely without being worried about damaging breaking etc

Organic case is best case
I now have the same problem on my new Pixel 7 Pro I bought like a month ago. It's screen is dusty whenever I get it out of the pocket no matter what pants.
Searched everywhere and can't find anything useful. My first guess is some kind of static electricity. I've tried:
• other phones
• anti-static screen cleaner
• letting the battery die and keep it uncharged for like half a day.
• a bunch of different jeans/pants
• even tried vaccum cleaning my pockets and trying to pick up anything that's impossible to see with human eye by a lint roller and duct tape.
Putting on a screen protector film or tempered glass would be my last resort.
After 30 minutes in pocket it looks like this. It's really embarrassing when I have to get it out in front of other people. Also attaching a photo of my pocket so you don't think they are messy or something. Other phones do not have this problem in the same pocket

I am literally having this exact same issue most of the time when it is in my pocket I remove the phone for to be literally covered on dust and you could literally see lines of dust everywhere. Is there any known fix for this or something worth doing
I've decided to put on a screen protector and it helped as much as it's actually usable right now and I don't notice the dust. I almost never notice the protector. It is slim and I suppose is not glass. If it was applied properly near the front camera cutout it would be even better but it was an impulsive purchase after long hours of work at a random local phone repair shop. That should explain the quality of the job. Maybe I should reapply it myself sometime but I can not be bothered

Did that managed to fix the issue as I know others that meantioned a screen protector didn't help much? Never really been a major fan of screen protector so will see how else I get on noticed the scrolling lagged a bit wasn't sure if it was just my model, but the dust cloud was just annoying especially when your out and about. Might give it a go

Without a screen protector the glass will get scratched, just a matter of time. Low humidity allows dielectrics like glass to build up a static charge which invariably attracts dust. An anti static spray would help or perhaps a hydrophilic coating of Prestone Bug Wash Windshield Washer Fluid which I also use. Needs to be applied daily but a few ounces last a long time.
I live in the desert so it's almost always dry. The Zizo case I use on my N10+'s is anti static and doesn't attract dust. I stays clean without much effort on my part. I use the Gorilla IQ Sheild screen protector which is almost as good as the factory installed original one. Together dust isn't a issue in spite of the dusty environment.
Where you stash the phone greatly effects dust exposure. Cotton lined pockets are the worst. Eventually the lint will get in the ports and need cleaning. Polyester, nyon/cotton fabrics don't shed and help keep the phone dust free. I avoid storing my Buds+ case in my front pockets because of the cotton issue. Partial synthetic blend rip stop BDU pants with thigh pockets are perfect though for both phone and Buds+ case.
I use whatever comes in handy...
Hey all. Quick question here. I bought an S9+ without any contracts or anythign cash. I was due for an upgrade so I figured I would splurge. When I bought the phone I picked up an otterbox and a glass screen cover. I spent good money on the glass and I literally applied it right after I unboxed the phone, gave the screen a quick spray with the included solution and cleaned it up to perfection. The glass itself was annoying due to the loss in sensitivity. I set up the higher sensitivity in the phone, but I still had sensitivity issues when I noticed the glass protector was separating from the screen. Very annoying and one day I just yanked it off due to constant typing errors from inputs not registering. So I went online to Amazon and I picked up a Spigen wallet case so I could protect my screen in my pocket while not bothering with annoying screen protectors.
After a few short weeks, I noticed my phone had scuffs from the stitching on the case. I cant believe how fragile this screen is considering it was just a soft material scuffing it up so bad.
Anyhow, it's not a MAJOR issue because I do not notice them when the screen is on, but it certainly looks shady and will affect resale if I want to sell my phone. Any thoughts on buffing out the very small micro scratches?! Im nervous to take a magic eraser to the screen, but I have some at home and am tempted to test that out. Im almost curious if Samsung would warrant that, but I highly doubt it since it was an aftermarket case.
Looking for opinions. I am attaching a link to my Amazon review where I took a picture to show. Im not sure how to attach in here due to lack of file storage. Thanks for any advice.

Never had any scratches on any of mine either, but might depend where in the world you are, certain types of dust/sand that have a high Mohs scale value could scratch gorilla glass, possible your region has those where ours don't, or at least not commonly
First few days I get a new phone I carefully clean it with a proper screen cloth, a week later I'm wiping it on pretty much anything soft I am close to

Caring your phone in your pocket is not safe if you are in dusty environment. One speck of sand dust can scratch your screen. The case probably picked up some particles. The stitching can not scratch the glass, neither can keys, coins, knives etc. Only things that are harder than glass like quartz. Even a speck of quartz dust can scratch your screen. You have to keep dust, dirt, and sand away from your screen or it will get scratched.
