Thank you
1. Install correct TWRP version 3.0.2-0, your current one is outdated and won't work on your current firmware.
2. Install any custom ROM that you like
or
3. Check this if you want the stock ROM - https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Restore 6.12.710.4 backup, install stock recovery 6.12.710.4 then OTA to the latest 6.24.710.1

keep it in one thread don't confuse yourself
try with another rom
check the md5 before install the zip and if possible check it while flashing
try to restore a stock backup as suggested before ( multiple time )

htc one m8x Taiwan
1st I relock my bootloader then enter in RUU mode and flash the firmware, which I downloaded from htc website( http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads) of my veriate and getting error 12 signature verification failed.
using latest venom rom with twrp recovery. PLS HELP I WANT TO GO BACK TO STOCK.
The better way is to flash stock backup from this thread HERE and perform official OTA again because only 2.22.709.4 stock backup is available .
Before doing this unlock the bootloader again .
EDIT : after flashing backup make sure to flash stock recovery before performing OTA ..
Can someone provide with correct ruu for my HTC phone.

I don't think your version has RUU.
You can restore to stock ROM, using stock TWRP backup using files and instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
And given the supplied data, you probably already have TWRP installed, and bootloader is unlocked.
You will want to restore stock TWRP backup 6.14.707.1 from Post #3 of the linked thread.
Also, no need to restore stock recovery (as its unlikely any more updates are coming). So just do Steps 1-9 of the guide, and reboot.
Hi All,
I had my M8 running Cyanogen mod and wanted to return it to stock and I think I have managed to pretty much wipe everything, it will only boot in to Android System recovery and nothing further. I have tried the factory reset options and everything from there but no change.
My getvar is:

I found an OTA update on the HTC US site but when I tried to install it I got that I needed HTC/HTC_EUROPE/HTCM8:4.4.2/KOT49H/325784.5:user/release-keys
If anyone can direct me to the right file to restore my phone it would make a great Xmas present - especially if I can get it back to using Android Pay
Thanks
That's a very old android version that you have.
Follow this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
that's stock Marshmallow 6.12.401.4
My friend, that has worked perfectly. Thank you so much
:good::good:
Enjoy your Xmas present
So, I got an HTC One M8 of a friend of mine. I tried to repair the phone as it was in a bootloop. However, even after installing several different roms it wouldn't start. I noticed another strange thing; Whenever I want to go from the bootloader to recovery, it takes absolutely ages (read: 10-15 minutes) to actually get to this. I tried it with a custom recovery as well as the stock recovery. This makes me think it has something to do with the CPU?
So far I've tried different ROMs, a nandroid backup, updating my firmware and (unsuccesfully) finding a RUU file for my HTC M8. I have included the getvar information for further possible details:

I posted the getvar in another thread in which other people also posted theirs, so I accidentally copied someone else's info!
And I was afraid of that as I have been looking for it as well... Is there maybe a generic RUU file that works for most m8 devices?

no every device variant have it's own RUU ( available or not )
your best solution ( i'm afraid it's the only ) is to restore a stock backup then flash the signed firmware
all you need in this thread at the first 5 posts

yea, just tried this again, didn't work, was stuck again on the o1ne screen after the vodafone logo. after installing a custom rom (android revolution HD 53.1) it was also stuck on the same screen. the last time it was stuck on this screen, it didn't get any further after a full 8+ hours of waiting. I waited for an hour on both flashings, but nothing at all...
Thanks for assisting me so far anyway
bump!
I really would want to use this phone...
htc one m8 rooted and s off also super cid but cant install custom rom always back to boot menu. cant load rom please help try different rom but always getting same error. please help me.
If this is your device details - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72464696&postcount=1
Your device is not regular M8 but M8 EYE. There is no custom ROM that work on it (AFAIK) .. so get back to stock to have a working phone.
You should ask in the same thread in Q&A when you have questions, not here in General section
I have the same issue. I can install the custom ROM but I can't make the WiFi work.

How can it be same issue ? His problem cannot install custom ROM but you can.
Your problem is outdated firmware. You updated only hboot but not the firmware.
Download and install FW_MMSD_6.12.1540.4_DevEd.zip from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64471713&postcount=10519
This will fix your wifi problem
Thanks ckpv5!
I've also download another Firmware but forgot to follow instructions.
I got the following error:
"FAILED (remote: 90 hboot pre-update! please flush image again immediately)"
So I run it again and in the second time it completed the whole process.
Thank you!!!
