One M8 Stuck in Android Software Recovery 3e - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I had my M8 running Cyanogen mod and wanted to return it to stock and I think I have managed to pretty much wipe everything, it will only boot in to Android System recovery and nothing further. I have tried the factory reset options and everything from there but no change.
My getvar is:

I found an OTA update on the HTC US site but when I tried to install it I got that I needed HTC/HTC_EUROPE/HTCM8:4.4.2/KOT49H/325784.5:user/release-keys
If anyone can direct me to the right file to restore my phone it would make a great Xmas present - especially if I can get it back to using Android Pay
Thanks

That's a very old android version that you have.
Follow this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
that's stock Marshmallow 6.12.401.4

My friend, that has worked perfectly. Thank you so much

:good::good:
Enjoy your Xmas present

I think my phone is bricked(kinda?)

I have a HTC One M8 Unlocked and I haven't been able to use the phone for a couple days because I think I bricked it. First I unlocked my bootloader (successful) and then I rooted my phone (I assume it went successful) and after that I ran the ViperOneM8 4.6.1 rom. I was in a hurry so I did not read that you were supposed to update your firmware before installing the rom. I ****ed up and installed the rom and I was left with a phone that couldn't connect to wifi. I tried to fix the problem but I think I just made it worse and now I don't know what to do. Any help/links would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/vomerguides-m8-bootldr-unlock-s-off-t2800727
and update your firmware to at least 4.16.401.10
And no need to root if you are installing a (already rooted) custom rom ! Useless and totally unnecessary.
People should stop thinking that they "root the phone", you are only modding the running OS to give it root access !

Updating to latest firmware

I'm looking to update my HTC One M8 to the latest firmware. I understand the safest way to do this is though a stock rom and run through prompted updates?
Can anyone point me in the right direction, given the details of my phone below:
Also not sure what bootloader / custom ROM I should flash after update if anyone has any suggestions for a nice speedy rom. Doesn't need to be sense.
Thanks in advance

Just an update. I've managed to get back to stock using a thread on these forums. This is what I'm on now:

Your main point is to have the latest Marshmallow firmware.
As your device is S-Off, change the CID ORANG001 to SuperCID 11111111
then you can install any Marshmallow firmware for MID 0P6B10000
If you want to stick to CID ORANG001, the only firmware that you can install is 6.12.61.4
Install firmware ... install latest TWRP then you can install any custom ROM that you like.
You don't really need to return to stock and do update ... if not then what's the point that you have S-Off device.

Broken processor/softbricked?

So, I got an HTC One M8 of a friend of mine. I tried to repair the phone as it was in a bootloop. However, even after installing several different roms it wouldn't start. I noticed another strange thing; Whenever I want to go from the bootloader to recovery, it takes absolutely ages (read: 10-15 minutes) to actually get to this. I tried it with a custom recovery as well as the stock recovery. This makes me think it has something to do with the CPU?
So far I've tried different ROMs, a nandroid backup, updating my firmware and (unsuccesfully) finding a RUU file for my HTC M8. I have included the getvar information for further possible details:

I posted the getvar in another thread in which other people also posted theirs, so I accidentally copied someone else's info!
And I was afraid of that as I have been looking for it as well... Is there maybe a generic RUU file that works for most m8 devices?

no every device variant have it's own RUU ( available or not )
your best solution ( i'm afraid it's the only ) is to restore a stock backup then flash the signed firmware
all you need in this thread at the first 5 posts

yea, just tried this again, didn't work, was stuck again on the o1ne screen after the vodafone logo. after installing a custom rom (android revolution HD 53.1) it was also stuck on the same screen. the last time it was stuck on this screen, it didn't get any further after a full 8+ hours of waiting. I waited for an hour on both flashings, but nothing at all...
Thanks for assisting me so far anyway
bump!
I really would want to use this phone...

Looking for RUU for H3G__001. Is there an alternative way to get back to Stock?

Hi.
I've been searching high and low and can't seem to find the resources I'm looking for.
I'm trying to return my M8 back to stock. Currently it has ViperOne custom ROM on it. The problem that I'm having is that I can't find the required RUU anywhere. Does anyone have one? Is there an alternative way to get the phone back to stock?
Thanks in advance for any help.

No RUU
Alternative way - restore 4.25.771.6 stock non-rooted backup & install 4.25.771.6 stock recovery
Optional - OTA to the latest 6.13.771.4
Everything that you need in stock backup thread linked in my signature.
Perfect.
Thank you so much ckpv5. All sorted now.

If this is your device details - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72464696&postcount=1
Your device is not regular M8 but M8 EYE. There is no custom ROM that work on it (AFAIK) .. so get back to stock to have a working phone.
You should ask in the same thread in Q&A when you have questions, not here in General section

How can it be same issue ? His problem cannot install custom ROM but you can.
Your problem is outdated firmware. You updated only hboot but not the firmware.
Download and install FW_MMSD_6.12.1540.4_DevEd.zip from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64471713&postcount=10519
This will fix your wifi problem
Thanks ckpv5!
I've also download another Firmware but forgot to follow instructions.
I got the following error:
"FAILED (remote: 90 hboot pre-update! please flush image again immediately)"
So I run it again and in the second time it completed the whole process.
Thank you!!!
