hi,,
what about modaco-superboot.zip? doest it unlock the bootloader of Lenovo p2?
Thank you,,
^Better unlock via the option within the phone's settings. Nobody can tell you if the superboot.zip will work or not. Mine is only 5 days from the life of freedom.

I stumbled on this http://www.unlock-bootloaders.tech/2016/12/lenovo-p2-8319.html but it might well be a fake since they say "I rewrite this tutorial from forum.xda-developers.com" and I can't find anything here and the file to download is behind a "complete offer" wall...Now it seems that modaco-superboot.zip file might be "generic" so the one on XDA https://www.google.fr/url?sa=t&rct=...ui6ckfV3A&sig2=0oDFAOzdaw9JZwAMyRmKJA&cad=rja might work ?
Sorry don't have the P2 yet to try !
After giving it some thought it must be a fake !
It's really annoying that Lenovo have this 14 day rule, can't really see the purpose ? They don't have it on the K6 for instance.
My waiting time ended yesterday. However I don't see much reason to root or do custom ROM's really. The camera is bad as it is and stock is pretty Vanilla. Theming would be the main reason for me. But won't go through a reset for that at the moment.
How did the process work ? You clicked on OEM unlocking in the developer settings and just had to wait 14 days or did they send you an activation code by email ?
As for rooting, just for AdAway I'd say it's worth it !

The waiting period is over I have not done anyting after that so I don't know the process. We'll see maybe I'll unlock it soon. The camera app itself is so bad I won't miss it. It's a pain taking great photos with the stock camera app it's so sensitive to changes in light.
So it's just an arbitrary waiting period, odd!
The camera app on the K6 is not bad, in fact the panorama feature is really good. I'll check the exposure lock options, or lack of.

You can control the net traffic with local VPNs like Netguard. Don't see a reason for unlocking only because of Ad removal.
By the way the 14 days waiting period exists because of security reason. "Bad guys" can not buy the phone, unlock it, install "bad software" and sell it to honest customers within an hour. They have to wait 14 days and need a lot of SIM-cards. My old Huwai Mate 2 had the same 14 day lock.

Thanks DNS66 looks a lot like AdAway but in chrome I get a frame for the blocked ad, with AdAway the area is just "removed", maybe there's a setting I'm not seeing ?

I always have a hard time figuring these things out. I don't ever know if I did it correctly and I have to spend hours looking up videos on the exact process to follow. Anyone willing to guide me through VOIP (like skype, mumble, or teamspeak) to root my Note and install a new ROM?
I have the SM-P600 with Kernel 3.4.39-2040736 [email protected] #1
I'd be willing to gift you some League of Legends skins (NA Server) for your time
Ok I figured it out. Only took about 3 hours.

Sure, whoever needs help. I'm going to guess you don't need help because according to your signature you already have the Note 2014 so you probably already rooted it. If you need help reply to this and send me your contact info.

No, I haven't rooted my Note. I'm waiting for the compelling reason. In the past, the motivation was easy. The Note has been snappy and I kinda like this version of TouchWiz so replacing the ROM is not a motivation.

You don't have to install a new ROM, you can keep the stock one if you like it.
The compelling reason is the same for any root: To give your device added functionality. Remove bloatware, add cool features like app data backup and ad blockers, and add any app to the Samsung Multi Window feature (and have more than 2 apps open if you want). And rooting takes about 30 seconds to do.
What's not compelling about that?

Bloatware hasnt slowed me down so I don't need to remove it. I've never used and ad blocker and don't find mult-window useful. I do miss Titanium Backup but Helium works, sorta. I'm still waiting for compelling. I don't really want to trigger Knox if I don't have to.

Well then you obviously don't need my help.
I used my friend phone(Mi A2),opened camera and found that he has many options in manual mode and 2 for my Lite, so why XIAOMI did that and is our phone doesn't support these options?!
A2 camera hardware is waaaay better. So is the app that comes with it. If you want the same app your friend has, you have to install Magisk and download a module called Xiaomi Mi A2 camera. I guess you'll have to download the camera2API enabler, too.
I have it. However, it doesn't show the "lens" option. But everything else, is there.

It's pretty easy and straight forward if you follow the steps carefully. You just have to read it carefully, more than one time, and see if you understand every single step you have to do. If you don't, ask before starting. Pay special attention to the numbers (versions and so). Then, once you have all you need and you understand it all, you can go for it. If not, and you don't have any experience tampering with android phones, stay clar until you can be without a phone for a couple days. In my experience, nothing really bad ever happens. But true is that your phone might be useles for a couple days if you mess up in one important step (unlikely). But there is always a solution. Just gotta ask and do some digging and you'll sort it out.

Hi everyone,
I'm waiting for my phone to arrive, hopefully it'll be here in the next few days. I came across this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrclBFu3JyE that claims to be able to unlock the bootloader without the wait times. Does anyone know if this is legit? I can't test it until I get my device.
It'd be super handy if it works as the 7 day wait sounds unnecessary and painful.
If anyone can try it let us know how it goes.
ps. on a side note, how annoying is it that 90+% of the youtube videos on this device have English titles but the videos themselves are in other languages..?

Don't believe those videos its 99% of the time a scam/virus etc.
Just get the phone, set it up, bind your mi account under Dev settings - bootloader unlock and then wait 7 days (pretty sure it was 14 for some of my devices). Necessary evil with Xiaomi (trying to slow down resellers who flash global firmware etc). While you wait, don't install too many apps etc coz unlocking wipes the device
Don't be tempted with hacks and stuff.

If you like Stock MIUI, you'll like the Xiaomi.eu Custom ROMs. They provide the latest MIUI straight from the China ROMs (they always get updates first) + Improvements + it's debloated. Xiaomi.eu also provides Weekly ROMs (Beta builds), with updates every week.

Firstly, you have to request a Bootloader Unlock using Mi Unlock. It'll tell you the countdown (which will be 6 days and 23 hours).

HAHAHA, I actually dont even felt like doing the 168 hours anymore, probably keeping it locked in case I don't get stuck trying to use for official procedures. But man, I must admit XiaoMi devs are such dirty bastards, I mean they do not have any sort of tidyness. Do you know where they keep the themes? Where should i place the .mtz theme file I downloaded? I hope it does not require me to unpack it and insert to each folder respectively.

Hi, i was wondering if its possible to port the face recognition option we used to have on older android versions as a mod on the pixel 6 pro. I believe they used the front camera.
Are there any accuracy problems associated with using front camera?
I just needed a faster option to unlock at work as my hands get kinda dirty and the FP sensor on pixel 6 is sensitive to dust unlike the one on my pixel 3 XL (RIP legend).
If there is a solution that exists already, please forgive my naivety and point me to the thread/discussion for it. Thank you!
I don't think there is currently a solution and I doubt there will be unless Google includes it later.
Can you use smart unlock, with your works WiFi? Or location unlock if it has that?
There were reports that FaceID is in the code, but that it was not used on the P6 because it drains the battery. Since the battery is not great as is, I can see the point. I also wonder how secure it is, as Apple uses dedicated hardware to ensure security (thus the notch), but Google seems to rely on the camera alone -- I assume it's a more secure unlock than the totally inon-secure fake FaceID unlocks on many Chinese phones, like Xiaomi.
On another note, I am trying to use my Garmin watch as a trusted device, but about half the time it doesn't work and the phone would ask for PIN. The trusted device implementation, at least with a watch, is kind of a joke, so I am thinking of disabling it at this point.
I am using Trusted Location. Seems like its working fine. Google 'begs' to have you turn 'on' location function for several of its niceties to work. So security joins the growing pile.

Trusted location is poor security, for many reasons.
Anyone at the location can unlock your phone, so for most of us it's not a solution.

Was about to say this. Wifi/Location unlocking when at work is not a good idea.
There is a reason why we lock our phones, and no human is perfect - you might forget it for a moment, or get distracted - whatever.
If someone doesn't care for security in any way (I am perfect & my phone will 24/7 stay on me, no matter what) then he/she/is doesn't need any sort of security active in the first place.

I work in construction and so there's usually no wifi at work. And the location differs almost everyday so that won't be a viable solution as well.

Nononono, wrong approach. You do NOT want to bypass phone security. You want to integrate into it. Android is an open source operating system, just find the code where the 4 included unlock mechanisms are defined (swipe/pattern/pin/password), and add your own in the same way.

I work in construction and so there's usually no wifi at work. And the location differs almost everyday so that won't be a viable solution as well.

Root option to enable a Quick Setting to enable/disable lock - if that's possible?

If the only major issue is battery than i would rather google give us an option to enable it if we want. That way i could turn it on while im at work.

Fax cus I'm sure that "don't turn off screen if I'm looking at it" feature uses battery and it's ALWAYS ON when you're on your phone if you turn it on. Face ID only on when you use it, how can that even affect battery ?
Pixel 5 has face ID on one of the custom Roms, can't remember which one though.

But is it a secure lock like Apple's Face-ID or is it a gimmick like on the various Chinese phones, that's more for "entertainment purposes only?"

Yes that is a better way of looking at it. Thank you for the insight!

Yeah but it would only be looking for one thing. Maybe all the battery used on image processing for FaceID adds up over the many unlocks during the course of the day. Thats why i am keen to have it enabled only while I'm at work as the FP works fine in all other circumstances.
