Huawei M2 8.0 storage problem - Huawei MediaPad M2

I recently bought a Huawei Mediapad M2 8.0. It came with lollipop 5.1 and I manually upgraded it to 6.0.1 by following a guide I found on xda. This morning, while downloading a pretty large file I got a notification telling me there's not enough storage space left. I've got almost no personal files on it, just apps.
Now here's the weird part:
Storage manager shows only ~700MB/10.5 GB left
After using the storage cleaner, the Advanced Storage manager shows ~9.8/10.5 GB left, while Storage manager still finds only 700 MB of free space.
I've looked everywhere and I can't find anything that takes up that much space.
What's wrong?

Hmmm....that's weird. Did you try checking it after a reboot? Maybe the filesystem hasn't flushed the cleanup changes to the SD card (although it would be rare for this to happen, but anyway a reboot would solve it by sync'ing all mounted filesystems)...

Internal Storage Problem

Hi All,
Running Viper 1.8.0 and I am having an issue with the internal storage. The pc is saying I have 10.5gb of storage and I have 6b free but I only appear to have 3.2gb of space used according to properties on the pc, so there appears to be 1gb or so missing.
Any ideas?

Almost looks like you have 1.3GB missing, roughly about the same size a compressed nandroid backup
I've removed the backup to make room for a new backup and to flash a new Rom

Yeah but check on the phone itself too.
On my phone it says 10.51GB / 16.00GB.
In other words, 10.51GB used on the device.
From that 10.51GB it's broken down as 1.80GB Apps, 14.66MB Music, 12.45MB Photos & Videos, 1.19MB Downloads, Other 8.69GB. Available 5.49GB
5.49 + 10.51 = 16GB.
8.69 + 1.8 = 10.49 + the other small MB's adding up... Out of the 8.69GB my used for user made, apps, browser(downloads) , gallery and Miscellaneous, all of which comes to roughly 3.6GB. The rest has to be for the system itself(Android system).
Though if you deleted a back up then surely it has to update as such on the actual size available etc. Strange then
I'm afraid I don't have an answer or solution if there really did go 1GB missing somewhere. To be honest I never really even bothered with the internal storage. I got the phone and practically immediately popped in an SD Card.

[Q] Unified storage

I bought the phone with high expectations but was horribly let down, when I found out you can only use three gigabytes of internal storage to install apps onto. I was wondering if there was a way to reparation the internal drive to utilize the full thirty two gigabytes? I have the latest TWRP and CM11 installed on the device right now.
Thanks.

There is, but it is very tedious and If you're not careful, it can ruin your phone.

into flashable zips it works better with a ex sdcard as you can get a 128GB card and whammo you are laughing,he also has custom roms and nightlies regularly updated on the thread but the rom he has worked on mainly is namelessrom

Unless I did something wrong, this method didn't work for me.
The instructions seemed simple enough, just boot into fastboot mode, run the attached .bat file and wait.
After running the .bat, the phone wiped all app data, like running a factory reset, but upon rebooting, Settings> Storage will show the internal storage as a solid 29gb of unified storage space.
I happily used it thinking I had the full internal storage capacity for nearly three days until I started getting storage warnings.
My phone was saying I had used 2.96gb of my available 29gb internal storage and it was STILL behaving like it had the 3gb storage cap.
I couldn't install any more apps and any file I attempted to download from the browser failed.
I had made a backup before testing this, so I just ran the .bat again, un-unified the internal storage, and restored the backup.
My phone is back to normal, but the 3gb storage cap is still there.
If anyone could point out what I did wrong, I would be more than appreciative.
Edit: re-reading the instructions, I think I know what went wrong. nevermind this.
You need a unify compatible ROM to work this setup.
You probably kept using ColorOS or something.

[Q] Internal memory storage problem

I have a 32GB version of the N3. Im cunning CM11. Update nightlies every few days. This problem has been ongoing for months now and I cannot figure it out.
I keep running low on memory. My maximum used space inside the phone is AT THE MOST 7.5GB. It now says I have 500+ MB free. In practice I remove un-used stuff and the available space goes up.
I have been able to calculate a total of 18.4GB of space is missing and not usable. I have gone through my phone dozens of times trying to locate large files and remove them or locate the missing space.
Wont let me upload a photo, so here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tj39fbuu2tpbwqj/Screenshot_2014-07-15-12-40-05.png
Check in your downloads for files to delete, or if you dont need anything backed up do a complete internal format thru twrp/cwm or even flash an international rom which wipes everything on internal.

Internal SD Card always full / Media Storage > 1GB!?

Hi,
what I'm experiencing at the moment is kind of strange. I use a S-Offed M8 with the current Insertcoin Rom.
My internal SD Card is only used for Whatsapp and all installed Apps. With all the data there is about 1GB of free space.
Now the strange part - I always get the message from the phone telling me the internal sd is full. When I check the free space within the settings I see 16gb of 16gb used space. Then I delete some megabytes and i see the free space, but after minutes or even seconds the space is fully used again. I now deleted everything I could and found via es file explorer (root) but it's full again.
What can I do to determine the process, app or whatever causing this issue? It's really annoying as I can't use my phone correctly.
Thanks
Daniel

There is an app called Disk Usage and that can help to find where all your space is going?
Thanks, at the moment everything seems to work fine and the free space of 1 GB is usable. Next time it happens i will try DiskUsage.
It happened again! And the problem is the app called "Medienspeicher" (german). I don't know the english description, maybe "Media Storage"). DiskUsage shows me 1,1GB size of the media storage. After a couple of hours the space is free again - i did nothing. But oviously there's a problem with the media storage. Can it be resettet somehow?

Backup what personal data you want to keep (such as to your computer), and try formatting the memory in TWRP (in Wipe>Advanced options).

HTC One M9 - Internal Storage capacity shrink

Hello. I've noticed that somehow my internal storage partition got its capacity reduced. It is a 32Gigs model. Before it was 29ish or so, can't really tell now it shows 23 gigs max?
I've been trying to figure out how it happened. I did updated to Marshmallow prior to shrinking. Do you guys have similar issues or experience and suggestions to share? Thank you.
Proof: http://i.imgur.com/6GhQSsj.png
I do remember reading a thread that talked about internal space being reduced after update to MM...
Can't remember where I saw it....but if I remember correctly it was a duplicate file left behind about 3 gig in size...
Once deleted the device storage returns to normal...
Perhaps someone more familiar with that issue will chime in with a solution for you....g
Hey greg. Thanks for your reply. I've noticed a file/folder when doing a twrp backup. Twrp backup shows "system image" of more than 4 gigs + "system" while data is normally around 1 gig. System and System image do have different size though. I don't know yet if that can be related with what ate my memory.
EDIT: Screenshot of that System Image when backing up: http://i.imgur.com/K1gQXyh.png
I've no idea from where it came and whatnot. All I know is that my internal storage capacity got reduced. Thanks
Figured that the system image is for stock backing up for later use such as taking an OTA update. But still I can't figure our why capacity got down.
