Hi all, I have a Samsung S3 GT9300 with a damaged board, phone won't connect or charge. I bought a used board, owner said board is OK and unlocked, phone connects, charge and works (wireless OK) but when I put the SIM in the phone keeps showing a message: No SIM card with the no SIM card symbol, doesn't ask for pin number either. Strange thing is that the network signal is normal. I have replaced the SIM carrier but it's the same. I don't know what I am missing here and need some help.
I'll put some pics of the message soon.
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,
It would be great if you help me out!
I had an issue earlier with my Samsung Galaxy S3, Where the Phone's Simcard Reader Pins where broken.
I ended up purchasing a part from ebay ( Looks Like this: http://www.mengtor.com/uploadfile/goods/201207/201207272059011355.jpg )
After which, I managed to successfully replace the phone's Part. Before this operation, My Samsung Galaxy S3 would reject any Sim Card by giving the message "NO SIM INSERTED". Except for Bell Mobility/Virgin Mobility (Not sure Why) as the phone is locked to Rogers Originally.
After I installed the part, I went and bought a PETRO CANADA MOBILITY Sim Card. Which was unactivated at the time, after going through multiple steps on their website I managed to successfully set-up my account.
The Signal moved from "UNREGISTERED SIMCARD" To "Emergency Calls Only" and on occasion changes to "Rogers Wireless"
My it reads the Simcard, unlike before. However it does not give me a Petro Canada Signal.
I have also tried a FIDO Simcard got the same message "Emergency Calls Only"
But, Here's the important part. When removing the Simcard module there was a slight resistance, when assembling my part once more it kept this resistance was not apparent.
I also noticed that in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLE5W9XePn4
(BEGIN ON 4:20 - The instructor gets a flat head screw driver and clips it into place.)
I did not do that with my module instead i just connected it, and centered it by re-assembling the white center piece.
Could this be the reason why It's having trouble picking up a signal? Again! The phone reads the Simcard (Something Previously impossible, the only trouble is why is it picking up "Emergency Calls only" & or "Rogers Wireless")

Here's a helpful hint: change your thread title. It makes people not want to come in here and offer any sort of advice.
Hi there,
I am a so far satisfied owner of a G3 but since 10 days I have been having an issue with my G3 and I wanted to ask around if someone here has an idea or some thought that could help.
My situation is the following:
About 2 weeks ago I switched my mobile service provider. When my new SIM card from my new provider arrived I tried the SIM card in my G3 but there was just the massage "no sim card found" and no possibility to type in your PIN. So I thought maybe I got a defective SIM card, it happens. I ordered a new one but the problem remained with the new card in my G3 aswell, still no pssibility to type in my PIN. So I tried troubleshooting and started trying the SIM cards in diffrent phones. In other phones the SIM card from the new provider worked perfectly and I was able to type in my PIN like it should be. When I tried putting other SIM cards in my G3 (from my Mom, Dad etc. and also from different providers) none of them worked in my G3. Even my sisters SIM card from the same new provider AND she has also a G3. So far it seems that the my G3s SIM card reader is broken.
The weird thing is that when I put in my G3 my old SIM card from the old provider the prompt to type in my PIN appears as normal as ever. If I type in my PIN the phone accepts the PIN normally. There is just no reception which is normal because I am not with my old provider anymore. I also have to add that the phone appears not to have SIM lock. I bought it from a private seller but he bought the G3 with a vodafone contract and I was with O2 at that time and the phone worked perfectly. Just until I switched from O2 to Congstar (Telekom) the problem began.
So I thought I just send it back to LG because I still have warranty on the device. The phone is rooted so I need to admit that it was not that clever to send the phone in without rolling back the rooting. Today I got a letter from the repair service from LG with an estimate of cost which means no surprise, no warranty for me. You guess right, the reason is the rooting they write they need to change the whole mainboard. For me this sound like plain bull**** because on the document they send it seems like the first thing they check is a rooting and if the device is rooted then thats the cause. But ok it was pretty stupid from me not to unroot it, I know.
Now I wanted to ask you if someone had a similar problem with their G3 or has an idea what the cause could be. Like mentioned above with my old SIM card the phone worked normally. Just the new cards and all other cards, even another O2 card did not work. Is it possible that just one and only one SIM cards gets accepted from the phone?
Sorry for the long post. I am thankful for any advice.
Best regards,
Patrick
I'll have my phone back tomorrow. If someone still has an idea I would be very thankful about some thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks!

It seems your phone is Sim locked.
You need to find the unlocking code that you need to put in the hidden menu.
Google for LG G3 Sim unlock.

Hi,
thanks for your reply! Iam not sure it is because of sim lock- Because the phone came with a vodafone contract but when I bought it I was with O2. And with my old sim card from O2 the phone worked perfectly. Weird is that when I put in a different O2 sim card the pin prompt also did not appear. Same with any other sim card ...
Thanks,
Patrick
Or did maybe someone have a similar experience with a different phone?

Hi again,
I tried some more things but still nothing helped.
The things I tried were:
- unrooting the phone and factory reset
- reflash radios
- try completely diffrent rom (CM)
Still I have no idea what the cause could be. Maybe the sim card reader is just broken. Just weird that it reads my deactivated sim card.
I would really appreciate it if someone has an idea or some similar experience..
Thanks!
You can buy an unlock code for 3.5-4€ , works for any LG G3 variant
Try it
Ok, thanks! I will try it!
So I just looked at what I have to do and tried the combination 2945#*855# to see where I have to type in the code. The thing is when I choose any one of the appearing options like netlock etc. the phone says "this phone is permanently locked" and there is no possibility to type in any code...
How the hell is my phone completely locked...
I have an old Galaxy S3 that was used on the Virgin Mobile network. The phone sat in a drawer for a long while as the charger port was broken. My son picked it up, took it all apart and looked up replacing the logic board inside the phone to try and get it going again. (I love his desire to get into the guts of it.)
He found S3 logic boards online that have the SIM card on them (VM's are hardwired somehow). I am not a hardware guy at all, though flashed ROM's many times in the past. If he replaces the logic board with one that has a location for a SIM card could we put a TMobile SIM card in and would it work? (I suspect we would have to find a TMobile S3 ROM as well??). Not sure how the interaction of the SIM card with the phone works.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....
