Hi guys,
It would be great if you help me out!
I had an issue earlier with my Samsung Galaxy S3, Where the Phone's Simcard Reader Pins where broken.
I ended up purchasing a part from ebay ( Looks Like this: http://www.mengtor.com/uploadfile/go...2059011355.jpg )
After which, I managed to successfully replace the phone's Part. Before this operation, My Samsung Galaxy S3 would reject any Sim Card by giving the message "NO SIM INSERTED". Except for Bell Mobility/Virgin Mobility (Not sure Why) as the phone is locked to Rogers Originally.
After I installed the part, I went and bought a PETRO CANADA MOBILITY Sim Card. Which was unactivated at the time, after going through multiple steps on their website I managed to successfully set-up my account.
The Signal moved from "UNREGISTERED SIMCARD" To "Emergency Calls Only" and on occasion changes to "Rogers Wireless"
My it reads the Simcard, unlike before. However it does not give me a Petro Canada Signal.
I have also tried a FIDO Simcard got the same message "Emergency Calls Only"
But, Here's the important part. When removing the Simcard module there was a slight resistance, when assembling my part once more it kept this resistance was not apparent.
I also noticed that in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLE5W9XePn4
(BEGIN ON 4:20 - The instructor gets a flat head screw driver and clips it into place.)
I did not do that with my module instead i just connected it, and centered it by re-assembling the white center piece.
Could this be the reason why It's having trouble picking up a signal? It reads the Sim that's not the issue anymore!

Here's a helpful hint: change your thread title. It makes people not want to come in here and offer any sort of advice.
Hi everyone, I have searched XDA and Google to no end for a fix.
I just got this phone used like new off eBay yesterday from a reputable mobile dealer. I have spent hours playing with it and testing it and can confirm everything on it works beautifully!... except mobile service. >_____________<
Coverage is terrible to nonexistent at least half the time I use it, whether at home or out and about. I got a new SIM, same problem. My previous phone had great coverage and it was an unlocked AT&T iPhone 4.
The service bar indicator often shows a white circle with a cross. When I try to register it with T-Mobile, an alert appears in the top bar saying "Mobile Data is currently turned off" -- even though it isn't-- while the phone shows "Registering on T-Mobile..." for a minute, until finally saying "Unable to connect. Try Later"
It has a good IMEI, locked to T-mobile, stock unrooted Android 4.3 and is in excellent all around condition. I troubleshooted this with T-Mobile for two hours yesterday at the store. We are all trumped. They said they would have a network engineer check things out on their end and I should get a call back in two days from tech support.
Please help! I have already contacted the eBay seller about the phone but if at all possible I would like to fix the issue myself if I can.
Just noticed something. Without SIM card inserted the phone shows several bars of cellular service. With the SIM card in, the cellular service bar shows a white circle with a slash.
Maybe the SIM reader is toast?...yet, the phone acts like there is a SIM in when it is in...in other words it doesn't say insert SIM or no SIM or anything like that.
Small back story. Year long stay in the UAE from the United States. I received a company phone (Samsung Grand Neo) with the Etisalat sim card. (working) The sim card was normal size and had the ability to puch out the sim card to make it micro size if needed. Bought Verizon LG G4 before leaving because I recently left behind the original Galaxy Nexus. Now for the actual issue, as stated in the title the sim card, when changed over to the LG G4 doesn't recognize although it shows me on their network. Through the network settings its shows my telephone number as unknown. I checked around on the net with no luck thus far. Here is what i've attempted so far.
Battery pull w/ restart
Battery pull w/ sim pull
Change network settings from global to gsm (This gives me a signal to call customer support within area)
Customer service called in an attempt for an easy fix. (Couldn't however get past verification of account due to not knowing the individual that sets up the accounts. Pos. inquiry on my part.)
Google Machine / Youtube fixes / XDA
My company phone still works but for now i'm having to carry around two phones all the time and its such a pain.
My next steps are to inquire from the company the account name and information to head towards the kiosk in the mall. (closest provider source)
All else fails, I suck it up buttercup and start letting go of the much better and awesome LG G4 for a downgrade. Thank you for your time in the matter.
Wow...I should update my devices. Been lurking way too long with a comfortably rooted Galaxy Nexus.
I lost my P3XL on a accident and recently, after 8 weeks, I got it back when someone found it laying in a Bush near the place where the accident happened - it's summer time fortunately and except a little dirt the device is fine, everything is working and no water damage!
The person who found it saw the emergency information and brought it to my address, big luck!!! 8 weeks outside, 3 times heavy rain, the fabric case it had was moulding but the device itself is just fine, crazy!
When the device was lost I locked the Sim inside the device via the provider's homepage, so I got a replacement SIM a little while later... The usual stuff what people do in situations like this
Now the problem I have is the new Sim, the provider told me that it's a new generation of Sim and the module on the Sim looks different, it's silver and the module (chip on the Sim card) has a different setup, the lines are very different! According to the provider (O2 germany) the Sim uses less electricity than the previous generation and unfortunately it's not detected by my device at all, no reaction, nothing, like there's no Sim inside...
- I reseted the network settings
- factory reseted
- upgrade to Android R
Nothing helped, however the Sim is detected immediately by my 3 other Android devices and the Pixel detects all 4 Sim cards I tried, it's only the one Sim I have a contract with that makes issues. The provider sent a new replacement Sim which looks exactly like the previous one and is also not detected.
I don't think it's in relation to the weeks it was laying outside as it's only this specific Sim card, again, the card works in all others device and the Pixel 3 XL detects all other Sim cards I tried...
I luckily found a provider that offers eSim so I could register at least the virtual Sim to make calls and have data (I wanted something that is prepaid and where I can leave every month and is not to expensive, it's 'simquadrat' now)...
It's like the hardware is not capable to detect certain Sim cards with a specific module (chip on the Sim).
Any ideas, someone else with this specific issue?
Interesting problem. Do you think the provider has blacklisted your device on their network due to the supposed loss of the phone? The sim needs to detect the IMEI and perhaps that's become the issue?
