[Q] poor to no service, unable to register on T-Mobile - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi everyone, I have searched XDA and Google to no end for a fix.
I just got this phone used like new off eBay yesterday from a reputable mobile dealer. I have spent hours playing with it and testing it and can confirm everything on it works beautifully!... except mobile service. >_____________<
Coverage is terrible to nonexistent at least half the time I use it, whether at home or out and about. I got a new SIM, same problem. My previous phone had great coverage and it was an unlocked AT&T iPhone 4.
The service bar indicator often shows a white circle with a cross. When I try to register it with T-Mobile, an alert appears in the top bar saying "Mobile Data is currently turned off" -- even though it isn't-- while the phone shows "Registering on T-Mobile..." for a minute, until finally saying "Unable to connect. Try Later"
It has a good IMEI, locked to T-mobile, stock unrooted Android 4.3 and is in excellent all around condition. I troubleshooted this with T-Mobile for two hours yesterday at the store. We are all trumped. They said they would have a network engineer check things out on their end and I should get a call back in two days from tech support.
Please help! I have already contacted the eBay seller about the phone but if at all possible I would like to fix the issue myself if I can.

Just noticed something. Without SIM card inserted the phone shows several bars of cellular service. With the SIM card in, the cellular service bar shows a white circle with a slash.
Maybe the SIM reader is toast?...yet, the phone acts like there is a SIM in when it is in...in other words it doesn't say insert SIM or no SIM or anything like that.

Please help me - Updated Info - a Clue?

Money is tight, phone broke, bought a T-Mobile Dash off Craig's list. I am a T-Mobile Customer. Tried my sim card in it before I bought it - made a call - no problem. Got home (8 miles away) and it couldn't stay connected. Searching, searching, searching. Tried husband's sim card - same thing. D/led manual to be sure sim card was properly seated. It was. Called, texted, emailed seller. No reply. Reset phone. Same issue. Switched Sim cards back and forth, back and forth. Was able to make one call for 10 seconds and then call dropped - no service. Now I'm out my money and still have no phone. Is there anyone out there with any ideas?
Update: opened case, wiggled battery, wiggled sim card, finally got some bars. Made a call successfully. Second call - call dropped as soon as connected. Third call - Call dropped before connected. Now it still shows bars but will not make call or send text. Please Please help. Somebody, Anybody??
You might want to perform a hard reset. See the sticky at the top of the page.

What rom r u using? Have you called T - mobile and see if they had any signal reception problems in your area?, cause it can be a dead spot reception area.
Have you tried manually searching for other networks. Where I live, you can occasionally see TMo towers, but I do better to connect to a non TMo tower and be set on manual search.

I had the same problem with my Dash, and I gave up on it a year ago.
Symptoms:
Phone randomly loses signal every few minutes, gets it back a few minutes later.
Sometimes when it loses signal, it shows a SIM error or no SIM installed icon.
Battery meter varies wildly.
Actions taken:
Purchased new battery.
Tried another known good SIM (my wife's SIM - worked great in her phone).
Flashed WM 6.0 and 6.1
Result: Look at my sig
Anyone else experience this or have any ideas on how to fix? I don't even need the phone anymore, but it still stumps me and annoys me that such an expensive phone (it was expensive when I bought it 2.5 years ago) would suddenly quit working.
Thanks for the reply - at least I'm not the only one. Not that it helps, but .... did your Dash ever work when you first bought it?
Worked wonderfully for a year. I loved it. It started my addiction to smartphones and constant connectivity.

Is my phone blocked?

Hi,
I bought a HTC touch hd about 5 months ago, which i lost about 1 month ago. I phoned orange and told them to cancle my simcard, i didnt give them an imei number (obviously cos i didnt have it), just my lost phone number. I bought a HTC touch dual from ebay the day after which has been working perfectly. Then a few days ago, my friend phoned me saying he has found my touch HD, i got it from him, put my simcard in it and i got signal and was able to phone people from it but when i did a soft reset, it didnt get the signal back, there was just an exclaimation mark (!) next to the signal meter in the task bar, when i go into the phone settings, it says "no service" and when i click find, it says "cannot register to network."
To confuse the situation even more, when i turned the phone back on a few hours later, i regained signal and was able to phone people, but as soon as i did soft reset, it lost signal again. Over the past week i have been constantly testing it and have noticed that if i turn the phone on after about 5pm, it gets signal but as soon as i reset the phone, it loses signal again until 5pm the next day. i know it sounds strange but thats wot happens.
Iv just unlocked the phone to all networks (using the xda tool ) and tried my o2 sim in there but that does exactly the same thing, i will try it at 5pm tomorrow. Iv tried phoning orange but they are useless, and the staff in their shops just tell me to phone customer services.
Also, i can use GPRS/HSDPA all the time and go on the internet and stuff, everything on the phone works, except the actual phone itself (unless i turn it on after 5pm and leave it on, will only lose signal after a reset)
Would this point towards them blocking my phone? cos i always thought, once your phone is block, it will never get signal unless the imei is changed.
Also, is the imei on its own IC inside the phone? Does anyone have access to a service manual or at least know the circuit location of the chip? im an electronics engineer and have the facilities to change and read small ICs. If the worst comes to the worst, i will change the imei with either 1 from a faulty touch HD or from my touch dual, whichever is easier.
1 more thing, dont post telling me its illigal to change the imei, i already know, its illigal to download copyrighted stuff, break speed limits or take drugs but people still do it everyday.
Thanks in advance to any help given

[Q] no cell service with activated SIM card

Alright, here's my issue. I got the phone unlocked about three months ago, worked perfectly. I get great signal with AT&T, always have. I don't have a data plan or anything, phone gets wifi fine.
One day I stopped getting cell service. It appeared on the phone as the circle with the line through it. I thought it was odd since I always get good signal. Still got wifi fine. Took the SIM out and put it in my nokia, full bars. Tried playing around with the APN settings, nothing. Reformatted the phone, nothing.
Went and talked with an AT&T guy and he gave me a new SIM card. He put it in my phone, unactivated, and it worked great, showed up with full service. Once he activated the SIM, it went back to saying no service. It doesn't say no SIM, just that I don't have any signal at all.
When I take the SIM out and power on the phone, I get the no SIM error and it shows that I have full signal. Once I put it in, nothing.
Right now I am just using it as a wifi device. I am not really sure what I should do, and I can't return the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
my wife's Glide is getting the same problem behavior as outlined in this thread. With a new phone, new SIM and new battery we see the no network icon and Service State=unknown in phone status. No sim card error anymore, just no network. I'm going to take the phone in to the warranty center for another new battery and SIM card. I'm not optimistic. Add to that ever since we got the Glide, the phone would not ring or show missed calls sometimes when people really did call.
The AT&T warranty center offered my wife a different phone (new) as a replacement, but the Glide is the only decent Android phone with a keyboard and she has to have a keyboard.

[Q] Verizon to Etisalat Sim transfer doesn't recognize.

Small back story. Year long stay in the UAE from the United States. I received a company phone (Samsung Grand Neo) with the Etisalat sim card. (working) The sim card was normal size and had the ability to puch out the sim card to make it micro size if needed. Bought Verizon LG G4 before leaving because I recently left behind the original Galaxy Nexus. Now for the actual issue, as stated in the title the sim card, when changed over to the LG G4 doesn't recognize although it shows me on their network. Through the network settings its shows my telephone number as unknown. I checked around on the net with no luck thus far. Here is what i've attempted so far.
Battery pull w/ restart
Battery pull w/ sim pull
Change network settings from global to gsm (This gives me a signal to call customer support within area)
Customer service called in an attempt for an easy fix. (Couldn't however get past verification of account due to not knowing the individual that sets up the accounts. Pos. inquiry on my part.)
Google Machine / Youtube fixes / XDA
My company phone still works but for now i'm having to carry around two phones all the time and its such a pain.
My next steps are to inquire from the company the account name and information to head towards the kiosk in the mall. (closest provider source)
All else fails, I suck it up buttercup and start letting go of the much better and awesome LG G4 for a downgrade. Thank you for your time in the matter.
Wow...I should update my devices. Been lurking way too long with a comfortably rooted Galaxy Nexus.

How to remove omadm notification!

Hello everyone! I have spent so much time troubleshooting and have been so disappointed from this issue. Okay I will try to be as detailed as possible.
The phone in question is galaxy s20 ultra, originally sprint branded. I purchased the phone from a friend, that used it on sprint and it was totally paid off, and he initially stated at that time it was unlocked.
I insert my cricket wireless sim into the s20 ultra and it indicates it's locked and to contact the carrier.
So we called sprint , he stated what we were trying to do, which was use the s20 ultra with a cricket sim. They went through some steps , I can recall something about uicc unlock, and then the sprint rep said to insert the cricket sim, and once we did, no more unlock notice, no error messages or anything at all. Totally good. Worked great for a month until I decided in hopes of overall better service, data speeds and pricing, to try out US mobile.
Sooo now the real issue, once I placed in the black US mobile sim (verizon) , I had manually update apn settings with us mobile rep. Basically everything was good, top right corner of screen reads Verizon , however, only issue was no volte, so could not use data while on a call. The rep did some more settings ,which I cant clearly recall now, it was extensive, but now the volte is good, can access data while on a call, but top corner reads roaming indicator off.(eye sore) also after extensive settings changes and resets that us mobile rep performed , caused OMADM active your device, but it keeps failing and gives an error. And a notification for it stays on top corner. Only to get rid of it temporarily is to force stop but it comes back once phone re starts , any suggestions on how to remove these notifications?
