Questions About Custom Roms on G8

hello
i want to know if i install cm13 custom rom on Huawei G8(GX8) Can i return to stock rom easily?
and if i return to stock fingerprint sensor will work again? cuz i heard that fingerprint may not work after returning to official stock rom
+ can i successfully install B340 Firmware on my dual sim g8 after unlocking phone cuz it gives error now when i try to install ( sorry for bad english )

Yes, you should backup also modem into TWRP, in this way fingerprint will work wen you want to return to stock. So, make a full backup before flash CM-13.0.... if you want to return to stock just restore backup.

Installations steps :
- install TWRP 3.0.1-0 !
- go to TWRP and perform a backup ( including : System, Boot, Data & Custom ) !
- root your device using TWRP ( you should flash : UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip )
- reboot your device and connect USB cable :
> adb shell
$ su
# dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/cust of=/data/local/tmp/cust_orig.img
# chmod 0644 data/local/tmp/cust_orig.img
# exit
$ exit
> adb pull data/local/tmp/cust_orig.img
This cust_orig.img is your backup of your custom partition !
Now just download my cust.img and also B140 Firmware from the link above . Extract UPDATE.APP from B140 and put it on your external card ( MicroSD ) into dload directory : you should have : MicroSD/dload/UPDATE.APP !
Flash my custom partition on your device :
> adb push cust.img data/local/tmp/
> adb shell
$ su
# dd if=/data/local/tmp/cust.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/cust
# reboot recovery
Device will bot into TWRP ... here just go to : Wipe -> Advanced Wipe , check : Dalvik/ART Cache, System, Cache & Data -> Swipe to Wipe !
Just got to Reboot -> Power Off .... disconnect the USB cable ... than : while you keep pressed at the same time : volume up & volume down buttons , just keep pressed also power button ... device will start soon to install UPDATE.APP !
That is all ... now you should check update , and install OTA B180 before to flash UPDATE.APP from Huawei MM B340 !

hello ty for answer but i recently i found your guide to install official android 6 on c900b160 by changing cust but when i did it and tried to install b140 still error +after flashing modified cust it says failed to load cust invalid argument

It was just a suggestion the stuff with flash cust image from B140 ... now, if B340/330 it not working , you should restore your backup and your device will function without issues !

backup works perfect!
but when i install resurrection remix or cm13 after optimising apps it goes reboot and repeats rebooting and dosent boot up how to fix?

I installed your cust. img and now my bootloader is locked and simcard is not working. When I insert simcard it is asking for puk code. Even my bootloader code is not working. The IMEI no of my device has been changed. Please help me to recover my old imei number and make my simcard work

[tested] lost imei 0 after installing lineage here is how you can restore it ?

I AM VERY HAPPY TO PRESENT A SOLUTION FOR ALL THOSE WHO LOST VOLTE AFTER INSTALLING LINEAGE OS OR HAVE LOST EFS...:fingers-crossed:
Things you will need :
1. STOCK ROM BY @rajatgupta1998

STEPS TO GET 4G VOLTE BACK :
1. Install the Lineage OS as mentioned by rahul and then make a backup of the EFS in TWRP.
2. Install stock rom ( written above )
3. Install TWRP again on it.
4. Extract the persist file and copy it to your lineage EFS backup folder.So now the file in your backup folder should be EFS and persist.
5. Place the BACKUP folder in your TWRP.
6. Start TWRP in your Z2 play restore the EFS first and then restore the Persist file BOTH ONE BY ONE.
NOW REBOOT YOUR Z2 PLAY AND ENJOY VOLTE AGAIN .
TESTED ON INDIAN VARIANT XT1710 - 10.
IF ANY QUESTIONS YOU LEAVE A REPLY.ITS TOO CONFUSING I KNOW.
**YOU SHOULD BE ON STOCK ROM

what twrp used to backup persist on moto z2 play and what file of persist used too? help :crying:

Sorry to bring back this thread from the dead : does anyone still got those files? My friend Z2 is stuck with IMEI 0 and at this point, it's worth a try

[HELP] I need a copy of the cust folder from the root of the device

Hello guys,
I have a lot of problems with my cust partition and as moving the files from the cust partition to another phone works, I need the files of the cust partition from someone on any global MIUI 9 based on android 8.1.0 (REDMI NOTE 5 PRO / 5 GLOBAL)
Please upload it to something and share it
It will save my device and fix the problems
Guide:
1. Boot to twrp
2. go to the file explorer of twrp
3. go to the root of the device
4. go to the cust folder and copy everything from there to your internal storage and move it to your PC via MTP
5. add the files to a zip file and upload it

Hello, I'm looking for persist.img of redmi note 8 because my phone sensor isn't working by persist partition corruption. Kindly help me with persist.img file.

download fastboot rom for your device from here http://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
extract it twice and inside the images folder you can find persist.img

Its showing 404 forbidden
I wiped my persist partition and don't know what to do plz anyone can help me with this
Tried persist replair tool for redmi note 8 but all are showing corrupt

if you restore persist that way you will lose Widevine l1 (this is spesefic to every device)
it's better to restore your persistbak rename it to persist.img and flash it and hope it's not gone (Widevine)

Question realme gt master edition dead phone (black screen and vibrating) when pressing buttons

My phone was stuck on fastboot But I followed these explanations and my phone was fixed
Then I tried to flash recovery and root But I ran into system problems
And I wanted to flash it again with the same explanations
But this second time nothing appeared on the phone no recovery no fastboot
Only black screen and vibration when I press buttons
And now the device just enters edi mode
Note: I tried to flash it several times, and the same problem. I feel like it died

Restore backup that you made before first flashing. For this go to QFilHelper folder and rename Backup folder to Flash. Then open QfilHelper.exe and enter 6

The problem is that I did not create a backup because my files were damaged from the ground up

In that case, if you didn't make a backup, you shouldn't have flashed the phone at all. Now I don't know how to help you

Because your pcb ( board ) number and IMEI will broken if you flash my backup
Make a backup at least now. Repeat the backup process exactly in the video, right up to the location of the files on the desktop.

I don't know what partition contains your pcb number, so I asked you make your backup even for bricked phone . For imei it's modemst partition
When you download backup, copy lun5_modemst1.bin and lun5_modemst2.bin files from your backup folder to my backup folder

Also, your bootloader must be unlocked because my backup have root

lun5_modemst1.bin and lun5_modemst2.bin did you change these files? I also didn't take backup of my rom
