App Help - Design, Prototyping, UI, Graphics

Hello, I have designed a keyword response app it will search for a keyword in a text, though at times i will receive text over 160 characters and it will split it into two text and the keyword that the app searches for gets split at the 160 character text point so it will only read half the text thus it will not respond to the key word, what I mean is it will search for a word like 'cart' but if it goes over 160 text and the word 'cart' is at the end of the 160 character limit, it will only read 'ca of the first part of the text and then read the next part where it will see rt', i need my app to combine and then read the text message rather than reading it into two. The app is made i just need someone to modify it to work around this issue, have spent ages and ive come to a complete halt its upsetting.

Messaging window

Is there anyways to make the part of the screen where the text your typing can me made to be larger. As I am typing a new text, you can only see one line maybe before it scrools out of view. Most of the screen is showing the text you aleady have read or seen. You know what I mean? Thanks.....
You're probably talking about the text messaging field in the unified communications screen. I don't know about enlarging that text window, but here's a suggestion. Use the default messaging app. Don't go into the threaded messages window, just use Compose New. It doesn't look as pretty, but you get a large field to see the text you're typing and it launches faster.
That seems to be an inconvenience, having to do "compose new mail" each and every time to respond to a text. It seems there would be a way to make that window larger and the other smaller. I'm no programmer by no means, but I have seen these guys do a lot more complex things for our devices.

My SMS screen in M2D keeps screwing up.

I'm running the ATT stock rom minus bloat. When I recieve a text, half the time it doesn't scroll down to the most recent text. I have to scroll down manually. If I close the message app and then reopen it, it usually does scroll to the most recent text. Also, the area in which you type your message is chopped in half, so you can't see what you've typed. I had this same issue on my Tilt and now I'm having it on my Tilt 2. On my Tilt, I was even running a modified rom.
When I have that half line of text I open up the onscreen keyboard, close it and my text box is back to normal. Another suggestion was to make the text box 4 lines instead of 2, so even if you have hte issue you still have 2 1/2 lines. I have the same thing with the most recent text, but I live with it because its not too bothersome.
How do you make it four?
Not sure how that is done?
I was looking for a while and couldn't find the post I was refeering to, all I could find was something for the tp1:
Are there ways to enlarge the sms typing area?
you can use the freeware "TOTAL COMMANDER" and edit the file thread_sms.html. You can do a search to easily find it...windows directory.
look for this part:
<inbox:content id="COMPOSESUBECT" width="98%" height=35 spell...
and play around with the number in height (in this case 35). change to 70 and get 3 lines for text replies. Just change the numbers and see what works for you.
*you need to soft reset after editing the file.

Text larger than WM6.5 largest setting

Ok I've searched hi and low for this with no luck. I am almost 50 and am starting to need reading glasses to see the fine print. I have an HTC Touch Pro2 with Wm6.5. I have the text size set to the largest setting but would love to have it a bit larger. Mainly for my contacts and text messaging. I have the text set to 300% when typing but I neet the messages that are sent to me to show up larger. It would also be nice if the zoom bar worked with text messages as it does with web pages. I know I am not the first to have this problem, hopefully someone can put me on an app or fix for this.
Carry and use reading glasses...Or get glasses with line free bi-focals. You might be surprised how your overall sight improves...

Please help, these are important text and very important emails. i want to change the text f=size throughout the whole system! Please help!
It should be in the clear type setting not sure exactly where it is tho
You can change the text size within your SMS messages by sliding the zoom bar under the screen. Just slide it to the right and all texdt will increase in size.

[Q] How do you format a SMS?

Guys
Quite daft question really, but I do not see a way for me to enter a carriage return (enter character) in order to format a SMS message? All the message text goes on the same line.
Have we all stopped using SMS to send messages?? Anyone?

Kik FTW.
But yeah, it seems as though there's no option to substitute the smiley key for the return key on the default keyboard... one hideous workaround would be to compose in Gmail, then copy and paste into Messaging.
You could install another keyboard...but that's sort of ridiculous.
If you push the space bar enough times and then type something it will start on the next line
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Good that you confirmed that.. I was going mad trying to search for a way to format a simple message. The OS is two steps forward and one step backwards in some areas really...
Yep, another keyboard stands as a possible solution, but I wonder why Google missed such an obvious option..
Thanks!

It also wastes that many of your 140 characters, and will not necessarily wrap to the same location on the receiving device. Not a realistic solution in this case. It's similar to people centering text in documents by adding spaces to the front of the text instead of just hitting "Align Center".

Yeah, it is unusual. It would be an incredibly simple fix if I had the messaging app source code, though. I imagine the text field is just set to a certain type of input, much like the 10-digit keyboard that comes up in certain contextual fields. Is the messaging app part of AOSP? I think it is. I should play around with that... *makes a mental note*
I would have imagined that the carriage return would appear as an option directly or in one of the contextual options. Looking at some of the characters included, I find it hillarious that they have included characters like copyright, pi, carat, etc....Who uses these in SMS's? scientists?
I know its old, but...
... 've been wondering how to put LF in SMS messages.
See the attached LatinIME, it has two smilies changed and an Enter button on the dot extra characters button.
