Can either of these simple things be achieved with the Desire?
1) unlock without having to use last button - ie wake up the phone from just a screen tap?
2) have an option to go straight to an event from the lock screen, be that a new sms / email / missed call or whatever other notification I might receive? I don't want to have to press power to unlock, then slide and then navigate through to messages or emails etc.
Oh and while I think about it, can I adjust the sensitivity of the track pad?
All of these things would make it a much better experience!
1) to unlock you have to use a button on top of the phone, no option in the software to unlock with just a screen touch, maybe a third party app would make this possible but not sure.
2)Again this is not something that is included in the default lock screen, you can control the music player from the lock screen but that is about all. A third party option may make what you want possible, not sure if such a solution exists though.
I haven't found any option to adjust the track pad sensitivity but I got used to it fairly quickly and it works just as well as a trackball in my opinion.

Nope.

Nope. Only things that I can see operable from here is Snooze/Dismiss Alarm and the Music Player. May be more I haven't stumbled across

Again, Not as far as I can See
All of these things would make it a much better experience!
Agreed!

Bloody 10 Characters...
Oh, and Beaten too by liamw.
on the lock screen, if you've got notifications, you unlock it and then slide down the taskbar and it gives you the notifications that you just click on to open them...or is that not it??
Thanks for replies, seems a shame these simple thinga cannot be achieved in Android.
Sure you can do that eddyos but to my way of thinking that's still too many steps to read a message!
Does anyone else keep hitting the damn full stop instead of space when typing?! Any solutions?
And while I am on a roll sms counter anyone? How do we know when we have reached 160 characters in our txts?
You can do it on the HD2 as the lock slider can be expanded to select the SMS you want to read for example...that was in Sense so perhaps someone will write an app for it once the Desire is rooted...doesn't bother me, tbh

When you get towards the end of a text it says above the send button x/160.
Try expanding the notification tray and THEN locking it. when you unlock the tray will be expanded just one click to get to a message, one click to get back home (home button).
i use handcent and you can rply messages from teh lock screen so that might be what your looking for
Omg the above reply just made me realise I've missed the obvious.
Download SMS Popup. It should do what you want.

That would be ideal! Flick up for going straight to the relevant app or down (as normal) for home screen.

So it does (the 160 characters that is) - not sure how I missed that!
Expanding the notification tray has no effect for me. As soon as the Desire is unlocked it's already rolled back up to the top.

Hmmm, not quite what I am after as I do not want to totally replace the in buily application. Running handcent alongside it still means I get notifications in the native app, which I don't want. Thanks for the suggestion though, I may persevere with it!

Bingo! That's pretty much exactly what I am after - even wakes up the phone so no need for the power to unlock each time an sms comes in - thanks
One problem though - is this a bug? When selecting close at the popup window, if 'mark as read' is selected it should do just that, right? Well it's not doing. Any new sms remains in the message app as a new unread sms even after I have selected to close it with the option to mark as read ticked. So I am having to get rid of it twice.
Can anyone confirm this?
The mark as read thing is a bug, used to get it on my G1 although only when replying to SMS (IE I'd reply, the window would close but it would still be in the tray).
You can just clear the tray when you get the time or, search for a similar app.
Ok, worth mailing the dev or have you already done that?

Nope never bothered so yeah it might be worth doing that.
Yep this is the bug i mentioned in another thread! quite annoying
VERY annoying. I will email the dev .. can't hurt I suppose. Just need something like this for email as well now
That would be awesome.. surprised no ones made it!

not true just go into the native apps and turn notifications off in the inbuilt app problem solved in less than a minute

Yep, I did that but although there was no sound alert, the native messaging app still shows a new message in there when I don't want it to.
bizzare I don't get any notifications from the native app Any more after disabling all notifications in it
is there any apps can make those menu and return keep flashing when missed call or reminder?
I haven't completely understood what you're looking for, but you can try NoLed.
Couple of pixels turn red and circulate randomly in the upper left corner of the screen.
He means can the home and back key flash when there's a notification.
No, not yet, the drivers are being tricky apparently, though they are working on it. NoLed is the best thing for the moment.

u can try flashnotify apps in market
One of the things that I missed on my BlackBerry (and those convenience keys). It would be nice to see the Menu and Back buttons have a "flashing light" effect to them. If anyone's seen the Nokia E71 on standby, you know what I mean. That's polished work there.
I also use noLED. Its in the Market now since 08/11/2010.
Just install and add it as a Widget.

doing something wrong?
Awesome app!!!
With this app and the "missed call" app now i have the best of both worlds audio and or visual.
Thx for the work guys !!!!

Hey all,
I know that in contacts you can set the notification LED's colour to be a certain colour for a certain contact, but I was wondering, is it possible to use an app or something or manually set it for each function?
Like when I get a message if it could be say purple and when facebook notifications come through could it be blue, when I get a call it could be green, etc.
Unless the G3 already has this feature built in (In which case I'm missing it) does anyone know of a way to do this? I had an old LG phone and I was able to do it with that but I'm not sure if you can on this one. Can you without rooting or is there a way to with root?
Thanks in advance guys!

Try out Light Flow. The link I provided is for the free version. If it works out for you you can upgrade to the paid version which will give many you more options.
Light manager works and does not require root
Cheers guys
Light flow doesn't require root to function well...
Sent from my caseless LG G3, because I believe in myself
Samsung has rolled out it's version of the camera ring notification. Can be found in the galaxy store or through Samsung good lock app. From my initial testing the notification work and offer color mods and choosing what applications use the notification.
Tried it last week can't get it to work. Tried a few other similar apps and they didn't either. Ring flashes on Face unlock so not sure whats not working correctly. Does aod needs to be on? I don't really want this on.
Works fine , you have to go and specifically select the apps you want the notification for , just activating it won't help
I cant find it in GalaxyStore. What is the exact name of this App?

Hey there fellow XDAers, I came across a bug (attached screenshots) where my notifications on my normal lockscreen were the notifications of the always on display (the AOD was not activated, I dont use it), and now I want this more than anything. Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?
Good question. Idk how to edit or manipulate mine like I could on my Samsung.
Hey, yeah I understand you cause I don't know neither.
Umm...I too want the feature of lock screen cleavage lol

have you tried to activate the AOD and then disable it ? if not you can always stop apps from giving on screen notifications restart the phone and then reactivate them with a fresh boot. it worked for me when that happened when i first bought the phone i have the 512gb version of the pixel 6 pro (raven)
