Hi,
i have massive problems with mobile data on my Mi Max 128GB.
Even if i have LTE or HSDPA+ very often the internet connection is not responsive. When i do a speedtest i get 30-60 MBit, so speed and network isn't the problem. But when i then open a webpage, facebook or whatever there is no response sometimes. And when i look at the statusbar (where i turned on to show the currect data speed) i see something like 2-5 Kbit/s...
Baseband is A.2.1.c4-00013-1212_1915_a95f291 and i'm on 8.2.2.0 MIUI by xiaomi.eu (but this happens with other roms too).
Ideas anyone?
Thanks

When I use the default browser, there is always an initial pause before the browser loads the site I have requested. Is there anyway to stop this from happening?
The pause can take up to 10-15secounds before it decides to load the site and its very annoying.
I´ve also this problem.
Fix?
Is this on Wi-fi or 3g? Or both
I've had a similar experience in the past while using 2g/3g. Concluded the DNS servers used by some mobile networks are very slow resulting what you are seeing.
It may be posible to specifiy an alternative DNS server to speed it up??
Both 2/3 g and wifi..
Any solution for this?
Thanks
If its wi-fi and 3g it wont be a dns problem, you tried clearing
some cache maybe??
Just a guess at a fix,
or try using a different browser?
Already tried both solutions... thanks anyway..
Anything else?
Which rom you using?
t-mobile, orange, or stock?
Its odd, mine sometimes does this. Mines sim free on a stock rom. Does it on orange or o2. Does it on different browsers too. It gives me the first few millimetres of render across the top bar then occasionally it just sticks for maybe 15 seconds. But it always does it at that first bit of loading the page. Most of the time it just moves like **** of a shovel from start to finish. Its not just on the very first connection either. You would possibly expect that first render to not be as snappy but theres no reason as to when it happens. Nothing major just something slightly annoying.
I also see this, WiFi and 3G.
Been using Opera mini 5 beta, the last two days, it is lot better/faster that the standard browser.

Ok.. i´ve just solved this problem regarding 3g browsing* but wifi browsing remains.
Any comments?
*Open the Phone dialer and type in *#*#4636#*#* (note the symbols are backwards)
Tap on Phone Information
Scroll Down and set your Preferred Network Type to GSM auto (PRL) - NOTE this does not disable 3G or HSDPA! Speed tests still show I am receiving speeds up to 2.4mbps - NOTE there will still be the 3G and H icons in your status bar
This has fixed the connection dropout issue for me, please let me know if this hasn't helped for someone else.
Have just tried this and things do seem to load faster. Why would it have been set to WCDMA as defualt do you think?

Hmmmmm didn't cgreg 92 originally post this? Cut and paste is great and all but credit where credits due! Anyway ive done this already, thanks to cgreg92. But the occasional delay still happens on all connections. Its not regular, just an occasional pain. A fix would be good?
True... copy and paste... but didn´t assume credits..just pointed to a parcial solution to my problem.. now that i´ve cleared that... any solutions out there to slow wifi (with strong signal)?

This is a partial solution. It certainly calmed down my internet connection by 90 odd percent. But this slow occasional, sticking still exists on all connections. Interestingly, my internet connection now sticks about as often as it use to crash out. Its almost as if this method somehow forces the connection through. But like I say, it does occasionally still get stuck. I done this trick weeks ago now, and its still there, just alot better.

Hi all
A search of the forums revealed 5 potential threads similar to this but not quite (not same symptom, phone, modem ...)
Keep loosing mobile data connection...
I have installed X-note 3 and found that my mobile internet is intermittent particularly in Youtube where I frequently have to click "No connection , Retry" or "Connection to Server lost, Retry" and in Play Store and Gmail where the problem tends to occur on a screen unlock after it has been unused for a few minutes - about 3 to 5 mins.
I dont believe this is a ROM issue because I d/l various ROMS such as Revolution, Alliance, PacMan, Paranoid and still I get the problem.
I tried installing all 9 of these radios here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2044937 to no avail.
Also notice that if I set Network Mode to "GSM only" then this makes no difference to the problem (the default is "GSM/WCDMA Auto" which is what I've set it back to)
WiFi works fine.
Any ideas?
same issue here.
a lot of time trying to know why this happen. and i think it is due to fast dormancy.
the phone usually stays in standby in 3g... when you request some data it will automatically turn h or h+. Here is when you will notice the internet moving.
But unfortunately if you have some.coverage issues you can have this problem and then the programs instantly report no conection. If you insist you will see you can obtain connection. 5 seconds later 3g will appear again
It does not mind you will see the bars of coverage at maximum... if there is no quality signal you will have this problem.
I just have this problem at work. Not in other places.
But if you want a constant connection I recommend to keep for example online music while navigating...this will avoid the issue...unfortunately you will increase your data plan..
Yes!! This is exactly what happens.
So it can't be my specific phone but perhaps a hardware design or software issue. I don't recall this I happening before I rooted
Weird
Fixed it - so far at least
Fast Dormancy is the problem. It was enabled by default and I have turned this off. The connection is now fine and seems to be "always on". For me this is okay because I do not have any data limits or pay per MB for data. I do notice that new connections take a little longer to start (for example, time taken to access internet when opening up an app that is not currently running) . This is not noticeable for apps already running (in the background)
This explains ....

Basically the Redmi note 5 Pro and Ai are really slow for internet speeds, unstable I compared it to Samsung S7. This post talks about the same problem.

It was so slow i was going to sell this.
When using a custom roms, the LTE connection would turn off even tho it was turned on, you click it and it says turn off LTE connection even tho it's already stopped working, no LTE icon present. Then after turning it off and turning it back on it works again, till it randomly disconnects itself again. Restarting the phone while LTE was working would normally mean it had the same problem when phone started up, LTE icon missing internet not working you click on it and it says turn it off, it's on but not working.
MIUI didn't seem to disconnect those issues above still hopelessly slow speeds however.
I found someone else who suggested flashing a modem to fix it, however this didn't work for me as there's a massive list modems i tried and didn't fix it below. Had to use aeroplane mode after each modem flash and turn it off and wait a bit before turning on LTE to get a connection.
What did fix it was this post i came across from another person.
As far as I see it's issue with MIUI9. What is my conclusion so far is, with MIUI9, there is an issue with network switching like from 4g to 2g or 3g and the phone gets briefly disconnected from network . This is more often when you use data than voice.
I use two sim cards so I've currently got my data sim set to LTE only and my calling sim is just on WCDMA as soon as i did that my download speeds match my S7 just as fast which wasn't even close to been possible before i did this. So i'm convinced that the persons post is correct and it keeps disconnecting from 4G to try and connect to 3G and results in an unstable connection. That and i ran speedtests against all those modems listed and couldn't get these speeds.
It might be possible to set my calling sim to WCDMA/LTE and data to only LTE not tested so far, so its working but if i lose LTE connection it would normally drop to WCDMA so with LTE only that could be problematic. Doesn't seem to disconnect anymore and maintains the LTE during phone restarting.
This is a list of all the modem, baseband files i tried.

I just got the Mi 8 Lite yesterday. The speeds showing for mobile data on the phone are really slow... and downloads from the Play Store take forever (a few seconds for each MB). Trying to download the Android 9.0 update was painfully slow. Eventually I resorted to putting the SIM back into my old device and using that as a hotspot to update my phone via "wi-fi".
I have now placed the SIM back into the Mi 8 Lite and the mobile speeds are still slow. I'm really confused, however, because when I use the Mi 8 Lite as a hotspot to share the data with my old device, the downloads on that phone are quick.
So it seems that the Mi 8 Lite is just struggling to make internal use of the data speed that it is actually receiving from my network... it still transfers the full speed to other devices via the hotspot.
Any suggestions?
anybody else notice that the wifi on our a50's connect with only a single beam which means it will have half the link speeds a router usually is capable of in my case it's 72Mbps and 150Mbps on the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands respectively.
additionally the throughput of the wifi is much lower than my other devices. I do have 100Mbps+ broadband connection and from the a50 I can only strain as much as 50-70Mbps at any given time even over 5Ghz wifi.
on the other hand my note 5 and another cheap lenovo phone I've connects to the same subject network at home with full 150Mbps and 300Mbps and maxing out the throughput if I do a speed test.
I'm not sure if this is a hardware limitation or a firmware / kernel issue. but it's some what disappointing.
also anybody else notice the phone app being sluggish ? apart from the overall lag on the app one thing that bothers me most is whenever I receive a call the screen takes about 3-4 seconds to turn on so I hear the phone ringing but I've no idea who is calling and I would have to wait.
the design of the app on the call screen is rather not easy to use I still can't figure out for the life of me while ur receiving a call it goes to full screen and no way to actually ignore it and jump to another app.
please share your experience regarding these and any possible workarounds or fix.
Regards,
Yep the Phone App needs an immediate workout. The App UI is super laggy for both the incoming and outgoing calls. Both the times, the dialer UI is super late to respond. However, i have no complaints wrt to Wifi. I get full 95mbps UL/DL on 5Ghz and 75mbps on 2.4Ghz with my 100mbps connection. Its more of a Router thing.
My phone connect only at 72Mbps when I have 300Mbps N/ac router. Real internet connection is around 40-50 MB/s. This is only in 2,4Ghz. At 5Ghz is more then 200 Mbps.
There's is any way to increase 2,4Ghz speed ?
Bump.
Recently the phone app freezes for 20-30 seconds after I dial a number. This is an issue as sooner numbers are waiting for further number presses to navigate a menu and sometimes the lag is so bad that the menu times out before the app actually can respond to number pad entries.
Hanging up consistently consistently takes 20s during which time the phone is entirely unresponsive.
Update: have removed phone privileges from a while bunch of apps and deleted a few. But I think the thing that made the difference was disabling the pre-installed Facebook app. Phone is working as usual now.
My RN5Pro functions correctly with a Wifi connection, but once I leave my house outside of Wifi coverage, going to an area with no Wifi or mobile 4G/3G/2G signal for several minutes (eg. lifts or basement carpark), when I re-entered into an area with Mobile coverage, the phone would connect to mobile 4G/3G/2G showing full signal strength, but the Internet communication would not function correctly. I can not access most websites, I can hear instant messages coming in (Wechat or Line), but I can not open any messages and I can not send any messages out, applications such as Google Map also can not access any data.
I would the need to manually switch off mobile data, then turn back on the mobile data for the phone to access Internet correctly.
The problem started with MIUI Global Stable 10.2.1.0, the problem remained with 10.2.2.0 and the latest 10.3.1.0.
This problem does not exist with 10.0.6.0 and earlier ROMs.
It seems that somehow the DNS is messed up in the background, mobile connectivity is present, but not all data gets through correctly.
Are there anyone on this forum experiencing similar problems? This issue has been reported by many users in my local MIUI community, but the Mi Service Center is not responding or acting on the problem.
