Music Player battery drain - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
What Music Player do you guys use? I've tried Phonograph, stock Music Player, Player Pro and a few others, and i'm facing considerable battery drain. 5%h playing local storage music, while just 3%/h using Spotify.
I've tried with Stock kernel, ElementalX with and without AKT, Franco... OOS 3 and 4 as well. All % screen off.
Is this normal? My old Moto X never reached more than 2%/h playing music.
Is it the music players that i've been using?
I've searched over the internet and found nothing about it.

What music apps are you talking about?
I've used google music, power amp, winamp, and the regular stock music player. I just want to know which one does not drain the battery life so fast
If you are only listening to offline music (i.e. music on your phone/card) then the stock music player should use the least. What kind of battery life are you getting? I can listen to music with the stock player for hours on end, with the phone and 3g still on, and not use more than 20-30% of battery.
I lose very little battery life while listening to music with PlayerPro, but I can't make a comparison because I've only used it and the stock MIUI player recently. I actually think that MIUI player uses a bit more battery, but the amount is so small that it doesn't make much of a difference. For an hour while cleaning, usually screen off unless I'm skipping a song, PlayerPro uses about 1-2%, MIUI 2-3%. This is with wifi on, no 3G. Pandora uses around five, but that's streaming (with high quality checked in settings) and you'll always lose more life when streaming.

I get about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. I only listen to music in the gym. The battery is spent (about 10-15% left) when i am done

Music Player for ICS

I was looking forward to using the ICS stock music player, but for some reason the latest google music player does not work well with my bluetooth stereo. I cannot pause music via the controls, i can only play. It also does not support avrcp 1.3/1.4, which is strange since google music from the market DID on my droid x.
I have tried getting poweramp, but i have had my phone restart 3 times since installing it and have now uninstalled it.
I tried downloading winamp, but with the bluetooth controls enabled in the app, the stock music player overrides it and and it seems like winamp needs to be updated for ICS.
Playerpro's settings do not work in ICS and I cannot even get to the menu to enable music controls.
Does anyone have a solution for this? It is strange, as I thought google would have sorted this out by now.
I use playerpro, works fine for me, has did since I got the phone.

I love PowerAmp, still the best music player in my opinion.
I get my Nexus tomorrow. Is there anyone else having problems with it? I've really been counting on Poweramp working.
No problems here. PowerAMP is amazing.
I have Mortplayer on my GN.
so it looks like it might not be poweramp. it could by a bug. If you look here at post 3, http://rootzwiki.com/topic/12773-random-shutoffs/ you will see a guy links to 3 threads that talk about restarts happening when some type of sound is happening..
so it might be a bug in ICS
Mortplayer works great with ogg files over Bluetooth in stereo. I've been using Mortplayer all the way back to the Windoes Mobile days. It's lite and funcctional.
PowerAmp!!
Custom rom and been through several kernels, Power Amp has been great since I first loaded it on the stock phone.

[Q] Beside stock music player which one should I choose?

Hi folks,
I'm interested at using a different music player since the stock music player doesn't give me much in terms of features.
I've had PowerAMP (Paid) problem with is that every time I get an SMS message the music cuts out to play the sounds in my headphone and then the music blares out on the out speaker and then once the inbound sms sound is done it's plays back into the headphones.
I've had DoubleTwist similar type of problem but not as bad and unless you paid attention you wouldn't notice. BUT it's a huge memory HOG while running and playing music is eats about 55mb in the memory and I can't send the APP to SD.
What other alternatives do I have? I was considering PlayerPro but I really am trying not to have to pay for an APP.
I was looking at Winamp which I love but I would need their PRO version which again is a bummer cause I really am trying not to buy it.
Any suggestion?
Cheers.

Nice. Well after running for a while I was happy to see that cpu usage and memory usage weren't crazy. Nice app.

I guess it does
TTPod. Unfortunately the latest version is Chinese only, but someone has made an unofficial translation. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551201
On a sidenote: does anyone know a musicplayer that supports lockscreen controls on ICS, besides the stock player? I tried Cloudskipper, ZPlayer, ÜberMusic, WinAmp, Poweramp, the MIUI player and TTPod, but none supports it afaik.
I like MIUI's music player. I think it's available to non-MIUI users. Just google it.

Have you gone through all the settings in PowerAMP? There are several pages of settings for how notifications work while music is playing, how headphones work with music/notifications/plugin/etc, and more. Pretty sure that you can configure things the way you want if you spend some time in the settings pages.
PowerAMP 2.x is working great on my Xperia Pro (MK16a), with just the slightest dimming of the music to play are very dim notification alert, and then going back to normal volume, without interrupting the music nor changing which speakers the music comes out of.
Pheonix,
I've been through all the options in PowerAMP each time a notification will come on while music is playing (depending on the settings) it's on. Music will either fade or cut out. The notification will play but the MUSIC will resume on the external speaker for about 3seconds before switching back to Internal.
It's been doing that ever since I got it and with every music playing I've tried. I'm running on stock .62 rooted and there's no customization that's been done.
Now I've actually loaded the MIUI Music player back on my phone and actually that solved my problem. So this leads me in the direction that some of the music player interfere to an extent with the notification/speaker process.
Cheers.
Actually, I just noticed this issue last night while listening to music and getting texts from the wife. This didn't happen before.
I'm fairly certain that it's a new bug, as the 1.x versions never had this problem, and the early 2.0.x versions didn't either.
I'll go through my backups and see if I can find a version that doesn't have this issue.
Have you reported this to the PowerAMP devs?
Have you tired UBERMUSIC..?????
Its awsome....!!!!!

Low clarity of music when played with music player.

Music quality is destroyed when playing music over headphones with music player (eg.google play music). My phone is Nokia 6.1. No problem on YouTube or any other apps. Only music player apps. Music gets very distorted and noisy and very bad. Please help.
have you tried other music player?
Yes
I have tried a lot of music players. It won't work. But there is no problem in playback when music played in file manager. Please suggest a solution. It is a really bad issue for me.

laggy playback with mi music, play music and other music players

Hi, i am facing a strange problem with my rn8pro. When i listen to music with the stock player(mi music) or google play music and others with wired earphones, theres some microstuttering. The only apps with smooth playback i have found are poweramp and vlc. Is this a known bug?It was from the day i purchased it.Youtube plays ok too.I have updated to android 10 global rom. I have also set no restrictions to the battery saver for mi music and google play music.I noticed that when the display is on, there s smooth playback with all apps, including mi music and play music.
