Hi all - anyone know what the deal is with non-OEM batteries not being chargeable in the Galaxy S series phones? Is this something that has been/can be addressed in a ROM, or via software, or is there some hardware reason behind it?
Thanks!

Works fine for me... I thought this was a Verizon only issue.
Thanks everyone! I really didn't want to have to deal with it, and just about every non-OEM battery review on Amazon is mentioning that the batteries won't charge on the Fascinate, which had me thinking that there may be something going on with all the Galaxy S phones. Glad to hear it, as I can order some spares now
Well, less than 4 months into owning my Verizon GNex, the Micro-USB port has worn out, rendering it un-chargeable. I'm well out of warranty at this point I suppose so any suggestions as to what I should do?
solder it back to the board

Yeah I have, you can definitely feel the cable barely staying in.

OK don't solder or weld or do anything else to it!!! send it to warranty threw verison or Samsung, if u do something stupid like solder or weld u will void warranty. Samsung turn round time is a week I've sent in two phones and they completely replaced with fresh new one ( screen issues)
Yeah, you're not out of warranty. Manufacturer warranty on the phone is one year (like pretty much every other OEM). Take it to the nearest Verizon store and they should help you out in replacing it under warranty.

Yea the warranty is a year as long as you haven't done anything like open it up just make sure its 100% stock and call Verizon and tell them. If your account isn't cash only they will send you a new one overnight. If it is cash only you have to go to a store and drop it off maybe 2 or three days later you'll be told to pick up your replacement at the same store. Super easy

You could also change it using the Pogo pins, touchstone mod etc.

Yeah I was about to do that since I had forgotten about manufacturer warranty. Well I guess I'll bring my phone back to stock 4.0.2 and call Verizon. Thanks guys!

Hey guys. So i purchased the Hyperion 4200mAh battery, but um, funny story, i didnt really put it through the charge cycles because i thought it wouldnt matter but now i realize it does.
So my question is, since it adjusts to the kernel, could i flash a new kernel, and put that through the charge cycles? Would that work? or am i just dreaming?
Any help is appreciated guys! THANKS:laugh::fingers-crossed:

I've heard it makes up a bit for the lack of charge cycles but doesn't function nearly as well as it was originally supposed to. I've never owned one so I can't give a definite answer. Hopefully someone who has owned one and tested it will come across this thread and can give you a more definite answer. This is all I can tell you honestly. Aside from doing some research on that, it looks like you've got some experimenting to do lol.

Mornin y'all , so i gots a question .. My tabs USB port suddenly stopped charging. Ive switched out cables and plugs etc, then came to find out that half of the lil prong things inside the port were either damaged or missing. Obviously i have to change it so my question is
Would i be able to use another Samsung Galaxy charger usb to replace the broken one? I actually have Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, S5 and Galaxy mega that i can pull from but wanted to make sure it would be compatible before takin it apart

My guess is you could buy the exact part for your tablet. I know I can for my Note 10.1. Then there's this:

Thank you very much i appreciate your suggestion. I guess my question was asked to avoid buying the part and since I have numerous Galaxy products (already apart or used for parts) I was hoping to save $$ but overall prolly should just get the part lol. Thanks so much imma look into it now
