Hello,
The roms s7 work in s7 active?
Regards
Probably not but maybe you can try and let us know.
I was wondering the same thing do the regular s7 roms work on the s7 active?

without recovery custom cannot try it
maybe someone with an s7active made before 2016-july can use odin to flash s7 rom?
at&t and samsung are welling to replace s7act8ves made before that date because they are not waterproof. screenshot the manufactured date and confirm with samsung first though, just in case.
You can still try it without a custom recovery installed. You just have to have a rooted s7 active and have flashfire installed. Flashfire basically took the place of having the need to install a custom recovery at least for now. At least until someone finally finds a way to unlock the bootloader and finally finds a way to install a custom recovery. But sadly I don't see that happening ever again. Everyone on the regular qualcomm s7 forum of xda is using flashfire to flash the roms they have available. It's basically the same concept of installing xposed once you have a rooted s7 active.
Are the kernels the same as the s7? I'll try this aND report back.

What's this? Do you have a link about the faulty S7 Actives? This seems like important info and I didn't hear anything about it.

there was a link in the other water damage thread, there are lots of reviews where the first batch of actives failed simple water tests and a use on here who tried and broke it so read up if your not sure, i think water goes in it very easily. mines made after august 2016 but im still game to try until i go back to usa.

When you say flash the s7 kernel do you mean the s7 active or the regular s7 kernel

Reg s7 kernel. If it doesn't work flash the kernel for the active in Odin used for root. I don't have this any longer so I am fuzzy

Can you flash a d2tmo rom on the i747 d2lte/d2att?
I am not 110% sure, it might be possible.
I figured, should I try porting?

depends on the Rom.......such as
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/development/rom-cyanide-l-v1-android-5-0-2-t2980174
CyanideL is compatible to both.
Not to mention some of the replies on this thread sounds like a bunch of kids, sorry to be rude.
Some ROMS are fine for either phone. You may be able to get a Tmo ROM to work on the ATT s3 if you flash the Tmo ROM and immediately flash a compatible i747 kernel. I do this with my ATT note 3.

Ported ROMs should work, just make sure whatever ROM you want to boot works with the dt2Lte. I am coming from the GS2 and just got a GS4 not long ago, so my knowledge of ROMs on the GS3 here is limited due to the fact that my GS3 is just stock rooted.

infamous last words to a flasher,lol.......That Rom is for the galaxy s3 neo......worst case scenario is you brick and I have bricked a few, its not easy to recover and some have never recovered their device.
VERY first thing you need to do is find out what bootloader, modem, recovery, etc. and find a Rom that meets the criteria of YOUR device. Post your info and I will shoot you a list of compatible Roms that I can verify works.
I hope I helped

I attached a screenshot of my device info.
being as you are on the latest NJ1 I can tell you from reading forums that you can run almost every 4.4.4 or 5.0.x Rom on the front page of..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/development
I am on NE4 and have ran every Rom on that page plus a bunch more. I cant tell you which ones I like more because they are all the same base, some have added features, but they are all great in their own way.
Hey!
I'm interested in using the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4(4g) as a phone.
Is this possible with root?
Thanks for taking your time on making a response!
I'm new to XDA, so i apologize if i posted in wrong part of the Tab S forum part.

Stock rom. You need to state your exact model. If it's carrier locked then you're gonna have difficulty.
Enjoy the official stock rom for g930t by samsung.

Once you get into the binary 8, there is not way to going back the binary 4

I am not the developer, Couldn't able to answer it in the technically way,
but for me, this is the updating from 4 to 8, from Nouga 7.0 to Oreo 8.0,
For me it does perform faster, UI looks cleaner.

You can update to Oreo without changing the bootloader version. Oreo has been out for a while and most carriers, except Sprint, upgraded to it while still using b4.
The bootloader is basically a security measure to prevent unauthorized use of the phone like modding or changing roms. B8 isn't rootable, so if that matters to you, don't update. For Sprint users on b5,6,7 this allows the Unlocked firmware to be installed again.
Most people will just see it as another update, but most of the XDA community see it as a gift for updated Sprint phones or avoid like the plague for others because of root and flexibility.

Hi there !
I am a veteran ROM installer Thinking of buying used samsungs for the family.
I am looking at used S9's, but wanted to ask, which versions of the S9 to avoid when considering simple flashing, bootloader unlocking, and TWRP installations ?
That way I don't burn money for nothing.
Thanks !

Get international Samsung S9 only one that comes with the option to oem unlock in developer settings to be able to flash twrp magisk and custom roms or GSI (but you wouldn't need to do that thiers plenty of custom roms for the S9)
([emoji88]Omni Rom[emoji88])
Gotcha, International Version. But how do I recognize what is International ? Is there a special device code that I need to look for on the back of the device, or on the box ?

It ends with F or simply Google S9 international so you get the model number

Oh no. Eek.
I've just bought a g960F/DS version. Am I going to have problems trying to do the things you said?
I think I can take the phone back tomorrow if so. I saw the "F" and thought I was good to go, but is "F/DS" a weird version that will only have limited support for ROMs etc?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks.
The thing is though, what had made me go ahead was that I'd read somewhere that Lineage supported g960F/D.
I'll try and find the link but, in case you're reading this now, does that sound impossible?
EDIT: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/starlte/
Supported models
SM-G960F
SM-G960F/DS
SM-G960N

I've flashed roms many times before but not for ages and I've forgotten what oem unlock even means.
Does the fact that Lineageos is supported mean that in fact there IS oem unlock? And does that mean that I can use most other roms too and basically have the same flexibility that I would have if I had a g960F?
There's this too, PoochyX: Putting LineageOS on a Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G960F/DS)
As you have seen in the title, this is a warning. DON'T root your galaxy a32, as it can take some time but the phone will lose fingerprint unlock and sim card/internet functionality because of UNKNOWN BASEBAND and IMEI error.
You can't get it to work even reflashing stock firmware, and you can't downgrade because of samsung bootloader lock. There's no TWRP for the 4g variant so you can't backup important partitions. Many people are having this problem with both 4g and 5g, as seen in the forums from those device.
If you don't want to turn ur galaxy into an AndroidPod with no sim, then don't root it, atleast for now or until magisk people bug fix it.

I posted in the Magisk support forum.
I haven't opened a bug repot in github yet, cause they require the bugs to be tried on their alpha "canary" versions.
I found very old bug reports of people having the same problem with older samsungs. IDK if related. I'm still investigating and talking in the support forum.
Maybe soon I'll try flashing their canary version. I don't thinnk it will fix it but It'll help me investigate further into the partitions and such.

I have TWRP for the 5G version: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=325796 (not my code)
also found it for 4G: https://www.mediafire.com/file/bshjep6n3pqjt7r/twrp-recovery-a32+4g+helio+G80.tar/file (not my code again) both of these are untested from me, so try at your own risk

OK, so if I boot TWRP what do I do next? Do a backup? Erase the NVRAM?
Also I don't wanna be rude but are you sure it's for any A32 model? The tutorial says something about it being only for Q models.
Check your SM- model, if it's not a Q then just find another ROM.
Boot TWRP and install the stock ROM for the 4G version of the phone.
It should be a Q at the end.
