Hello, so yesterday (19 hours ago) my phone stopped responding to touch commands (whole screen) and I cant even unlock it.
I tried to put the battery, sim and sd card out and put it back in after an hour or so. It worked but only for a few hours. It is the same problem now again except it wont boot (stuck on kernel logo) without beign connected to charger or computer. I can disconnect it from charger but I cant use it because the tochscreen is not responding.
Is it a software problem or a damaged flex cable?
Few years ago I had a problem with flex cable on the same device. It started to randomly show fuzzy static screen. Later it shown only the static screen so the device was unusable.
I replaced the flex cable around 5 or 6 months ago and it was working until yesterday.
Both problems appeared when I was using the device in cold environment during winter.
Dont know if its important but I think it started when I got a (not important)call but couldnt answer it because the phone wont respond to touch with gloves so I just let it ring. I dont know if the missed call or a cold environment could cause this.
Thanks for any help.

My guess would be again flex cable.
Try to power on phone with slider opened.
So roughly 24 hours after I posted this thread I turned it on and it booted with touchscreen working. Its working but I still have no idea what caused it. Im not playing any games on it, I didnt dropped it and it was in cold environment many times before.

Cold enviroment shouldn't influence flex that much.
I personaly changed 5 flex cables in last 5 years, but durability varies. First one lasted a year, then 2nd and 3rd lasted 6 month each, 4th give me trouble because when i assembled it, it didn't work, but after reopening and focusing on proper contact where touchscreen goes (flex with short U-shaped end) it worked around 10 months. 5th still works, but i still have 1 new unused flex in reserve.
In my case, whenever touchscreen start to "behave", i order two new peaces from China (cheap, it was around 5 euros for two, free shipping). At the time they arrive, touchscreen can still work.

So after second time in the cold environment it looks like it wont recover so easily. Can you please PM me the seller you are buying from? These cables are almost 15€ with shipping here. Its pretty expensive for one cable.

Hello guys,
Around a week back, my MT3G slide touch screen got unresponsive for a while. I rebooted around 2-3 times and thankfully the touchscreen worked fine.
Now, I am getting this unresponsive touchscreen more often and I have to pull out the battery from the phone and turn it on again. The last time this happened I had to do this about 8-10 times before the touchscreen would respond. I have no problems with my keypad, 4 buttons or the trackpad, just the touchscreen
I also did a factory reset and erased all the data that I had on my phone and SD card.
EDIT : I just figured that the touchscreen sometimes starts working if you slide out the keypad. But once the keypad is slid back in, it's back to being unresponsive.
My phone is out of warranty so I can not get a replacement I think.
Does anyone know what could be the problem for such frequent touchscreen unresponsive behavior. After a couple of reboots, everything returns to normal.
Any ideas ? I would appreciate any help..
Thanks a lot...
you got a broken ribbon
Hi there,
Do you mean the slide rail flex cable or the digitizes flex cable ?
Thanks
flex ribbon cable
I would say it's the flex ribbon cable which connects the motherboard piece to the screen and home button piece. I've purchased several "broken" my touch 3g slides from ebay that had either the screen shift problem when the keyboard was slid out or screen that was unresponsive/wouldn't come on. Both problems were fixed by purchasing an inexpensive flex ribbon cable like item 170747702766 on ebay. I watched a video and followed along on youtube /watch?v=-jgFHuVWlig (stop at 7:27 and reverse the process). However, my most used mt3gs is now starting to have the screen shift problem again and needs a new cable... it didn't last as long as I had hoped.
Did you try any custom roms?. reflashing/updating the device?
I guess it must be some driver issue!..
i have the same problem.
Could you fix it?
Seems to be a common issue. I've described the process of replacing the flex ribbon cable here - it's not a rocket science. Or just bring the phone to a serviceman who will do the same (if you lucky enough he could even have a spare cable, but I'd advice you to have your own bought from ebay to be sure).

Thank you for the information but another questiion that I do have is where would one get a serviceman that would repair or help repair a phone, usually the technicians are attached to the different cellular carriers and if one dosen't have a contract with them they are not likely to help repair your phone even if it is for a fee. Do you know any serviceman?
well, i' have installed roms for a while and everything is ok, but in last days my phone sometimes stop responding, the screen doesn't turn on pushing the power button, but the funny is that apparently the phone still working, how do I know? if i have patience after a moment maybe 10 mins or in other cases is delayed 1 day the screen shows up in the last part where it was.
Now when I don't have patience and i pull off the battery and try to turn on the phone, the phone apparently turn on, vibrate, and then show the blue light and thats all , the phone still has keep in the black screen and I have to pull off the battery and repeat the process until the phone wants turn on
please help me this problem is really stressful
and a extra information..
2 or 3 months ago my phone fell down in a pool
maybe the problem is the battery? any help is valuable for me
So I can tell you 90% your Xperia Play suffers from a disease called "the flex cable damaged" disease. Your phone will have to undergo a surgery which will replace the damaged flex cable with a new one. Flex cable is the cable which connects the motherboard to the screen. Common issue for Xperia Play. Revert to stock, and I mean completely stock, then send to Sony Centre and replace for free if you still have warranty.
woww that was fast, unfortunately I have no warranty, my cousin throw me at the pool so i think he can pay me the flex cable... do you know how much is it?
by the way........rhank you sooooooo much
Er I am not sure about the price cause I got mine fixed under warranty. But I think it's not really expensive
So a tip for us is that open the slider slowly to avoid damage to the flex cable right?

Yep. Some people always push up hard (I am one of them ) then my flex cable is damaged.
I don't think it has anything to do with how hard you're using the device.
It has to do with how it was installed from the factory.
sometimes the cable can get bunched up underneath the screen and get a crimp in it.
My other spare screen slider cord has been crimped and i don't know how much longer it will last
but my other one is totally fine.
Guys I had problems too with my XP. One day the screen became all glitchy than i changed my flex cable and now the Device goes on when I push the on/off button the device thrills but no screen.
Any solution for this all ready flashed stock .TFT file.
A couple months ago my HTC One M8 started entering the headphone mode even there were no headphones plugged in. And as I coulnd't fix the problem by myself I went to the next Hutchison 3 store where I also got my phone from. Long story short : No warranty and they want 250 € for fixing the problem and they also told me that the headphone jack was broken. And since 250 € is way too much for me they returned my phone without any fixing. So I ordered this
http://www.amazon.de/Original-HTC-Connector-Ladebuchse-Microfon/dp/B00NP0XINI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420751805&sr=8-1&keywords=htc+one+m8+ladebuchse
from amazon and made a DIY transplantation . Since then everything was ok and everything worked properly but a couple days ago the same problem came back again and only if I hold the phone up like I usually do (with two hands like if I'm texting, for example) but if it's flat (on a table for example), everything works how it should.
Did somebody had the same problem or knows how to fix it ? And sorry for my bad english
Regards, Talpeš
Don't have a solution for this but this happened on my m7 when I had it, was told the sensor that detects when headphones are plugged in might have gotten wet. It eventually started working normal again and never did it again, I guess it had moisture and I had to let it dry up. Don't think this is your problem but just in case it might help
Well thank you. But when I look back it rained once on it last summer but only a few drops and it might be that what you said about the sensor but anyway thank you . And did your m7 work again without any issues or did you have to open your phone and dry it or change something?

Hello comunity
I bought one nexus 2013 wifi... (Second hand) and I am planning to mount it in my car...
well ... i just started preparing the software ...rooting, unlock bootloader and so on ...
then accidently I dropped it on the floor :/
After this the screen is black. It is OK - it is not brocken but is not working at all...
The computer recognizes the Nexus (I can see it from Device menagment in my computer).
Then I opened the Nexus..
Reconnected the battery... and trying to hold the power button for 60 sec...
again nothing worked and the screen is still dead.
Is it possible this to be a problem?
https://goo.gl/photos/k4EYBvWvQynab3v16
seem it is not OK... (There is a black line on the cable ... may be it is a missing part >)
If i buy one of this cables and change it may be the problem would be fixed??
Tnx and Happy new year

Yes, that part has been stripped. Can't tell if that causes the problem, but I'm almost certain it was not caused by the drop since that part was locked inside the connector, unless it had already fallen out when you opened the thing. Where you ripped it when removing, you might want to look inside the connector to make sure the loose bit doesn't remain in there as it could short. I take it you're not in the US. Otherwise, I could mail you an extra cable I have. Good luck with your repair.
Disconnecting the cable caused your issue for sure, be careful before you tinker with devices.
This cable is OK unless you damaged it during disassembly. The most likely failure is the screen. Have a look at it with a lamp at an angle to check for any cracks.
Did you earlier manage to install TWRP? If so boot to recovery and check with ADB file system access.
Well..
Tnx to all of you.
The tablet is working again.
The problem was this cable.
I ordered a new one.
I really couldnt undartand how just one drop can be the reason for damaging the cable.

Ok so the mrs had this Nokia 6.1 2018 TA-1050 and the charge port broke the phone was otherwise working fine it would still charge if got cable right place but only charge 50% over night she managed on for few days till I bought her a new phone , anyway it was still in good condition and shame chuck away so I decided to buy a replacement USB C charge port pcb in order to replace this part I needed to remove the screen ! not easily done and ended up breaking digitizer , was easy to replace charge port and cost £1:99 from Ebay, so now I needed a new screen and digitizer so ordered one on Ebay around £23 this arrived i put phone back together and with only one ribbon and clip to connect screen I put that back on and booted phone before I fixed screen back down with adhesive to test , Now phone boots and I can hear the Nokia start up jingle but the display just does not come on what so ever I can plug charger in and hear charge sound and can hold power Vol up and vibrates and can hear sound when boot up just no display , I can't see really what could of gone wrong when it's only one ribbon connection for screen that is definitely pressed down and in place I've took apart and rebuilt number of times and still no screen coming on so I'm at loss to what it is other than been sent a dud screen , but with no way to tell I don't have much of a argument I've contacted the Ebay seller and explained hoping he will send another but not holding my breath on that other than I haven't left feedback yet so that might sway for a replacment, just don't understand why screen not work now when it was fine before I broke orig just thought would be a cheap easy fix and save the phone for a while longer , maybe I was wasting my time Lol , anybody have any idea , appreciated

Did you update to April Security Patch? My touchscreen stopped working within 12h after updating. I don't think it's a coincidence. Phone is 3 weeks old, didn't drop it, nothing. Maybe, you're experiencing the same issue.
