Lineage 14 for Galaxy Nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Any chance of getting Lineage 14 for the Galaxy Nexus or is the phone too slow and RAM memory too limited for this version of Android?

Any developer is allowed to build Lineage using the work done on Unlegacy. But this is hard work and everyone here is a volunteer. Unless you know someone who can help, the best you can do right now is running Unlegacy. I don't know if there is any developer who will take a donation from you as a bounty to get if working, but you could message them to ask.
This thread is technically off topic for the development forum

There is also Unlegacy 7.1.1 for our GNex (that ROM was, in fact, my introduction to N on ANY hardware). So why am I not running it now? Simple enough - PureNexus 7.1.1 includes both the Pixel Launcher AND Google Assistant (which can be run together or separately; I run them as a tag-team). At some point, I hope to ambush some unsuspecting Pixel or PixelXL owner with my GNEX.

No idea - it is included WITH the 7.1.x ROMs (both 7.1.0 and 7.1.1). There are ways to add it to 6.x (or even 5.x) - still, I like 7.1.x because it actually feels more *whole* with both PL and Google Assistant in place - which is why I am still hoping to find a Pixel/XL owner to ambush here in VZW turf.

I think that it is better to have threads if people with various problems can help solve the problem.
He will be welcome if it is a thread for that.
If problem solving is possible, he will post for that.lol

Just remain patient.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus (i9250, "maguro") is pretty similar to the Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300), which already got LineageOS nightly. They're very similar phones when it comes to features and exterior. Both have 720p AMOLED screens, front-facing and rear-facing cameras, approximation sensors, light meter, earpiece, microphones, headphone jack in exactly the same places. Both feature 1 GB RAM and 16 GB eMMC. Both have HSPA+, but no LTE. They're also just half a year apart concerning their age (December 2011 vs. May 2012). They both feature an ARM Cortex A9 processor, though they utilize different SoCs (GNex = TI OMAP 4460, S3 = Samsung Exynos 4412).
The G-Nex seems to have a larger user base than the G-S3.

Note 7 version for future Cyanogenmod builds

I will buy a note 7. I have 2 options to go for exynos or Qualcomm version. I would like your opinion about wich one has the best performance for games and wich one has the best possibility to receive a developer future Cyanogenmod 13 build. Thank you

Snapdragon beats exynos in terms of performance. Exynos beats snapdragon in terms of possibilities of cyanogenmod builds.

Yeah, i'm going to have to say that is backwards. Qualcomm is good for custom roms and mods while Exynos is the better performer.
Not Qualcomm's fault actually. Whichever phone US winds up getting will be harder to root because of the customary locked bootloaders US Telco overlords has decreed. I suspect in this case, as with the case of S7, is that Qualcomm's chip is harder to root because of the additional bootloader. Not because of the chipset. But I guess I shd have said if you aren't staying in the US, this doesn't apply. : )

So should I go for exynos variant of note 7 if I want a future Cyanogenmod build?
Enviado de meu SM-N920G usando Tapatalk
Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but either way, we don't get Cyanogen do we?
For Snapdragon the Bootloader is locked so the possibility of a custom Recovery and ROM are rather bleak to none, no? I mean what are the odds that another EngBoot leaks for the Note 7? And even with that, people seem to have had a nightmare after Rooting their phones? Plus no TWRP, yet, is there?
For Exynos the Bootloader is unlocked so that's great, however I hear that Samsung doesn't release the source to bake CM for those phones. I will take this option cause at least we could have stable Root and optimized TW ROMs for the phone like the S7 Edge?
Lastly, correct me if I am wrong again, but according to all benchmarks and video reviews isn't the Exynos battery and performance always better than SD? Except the SD GPU edges out?
You pretty much nailed it on all counts.
If you want Cyanogenmod, the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, and Note 7 are not the phones for you.
Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
Can't you unlock the bootloader if the phone is payed off?
I payed off my S7 and called and had them unlock my bootloader on my phone. Won't that make it easier to root and install custom ROMs?
I'm asking because SP seems like the more likely candidate for Cyanogenmod. I also like Note 7 out of all the other android phones currently on the market. I'm a bit tempted on the Pixel XL, but the MicroSD and waterproof have it edging over the Pixel XL. I would like to think I could get the Note 7 from T-Mobile and then pay it off and when its payed off be able to install CM.
you will never have a working cm build for the note 7 or for any samsung phones for that matter..the only phone that had google experience was the galaxy s5
But doesn't S6 and before have CM builds? As well as the older notes?
What makes the Note 7 so much harder to eventually develop for?

All of them have some bugs but no where near what you have said. For the Galaxy S4 its been a while but checking their forum on here I see that they even have Android 6 builds. including CM13 which is kinda neat given its age. Most of the other things I have seen by searching. I used the S4 as my daily driver for the longest time. Though you are right that some of the threads I have found for the S6 say not a daily driver. I am a bit curious about why, and if that will ever be overcome. As in, in a year will there be builds for CM for the Note 7.
On that note what is the best phone or company for CM?

Yeah, I have since read that the S6, and Note 5, namely the devices that came out last year, don't seem to work well with Cyanogenmod.

LineageOS and the VZW Note 4

So i just looked at all the officially supported phones for lineage OS since CM is shutting down , and they have all the carrier variants for the note 4 (Sprint, ATT.. etc.. ) but not our 910V. That seems to be a common occurrence with our note 4 . its like the black sheep of the note 4 family . So why is it so hard to support our phone?

N910V only got bootloader unlocked recently... Maybe that's why? AFAIK, there's no official maintainer for the Verizon variant yet. @hsbadr had his unofficial builds (for CM), but he has stopped development and gone on to work with the Emotion ROM team.

Where do you see this list? Can anyone comment as to why I always had so many problems while on CM13? I seemed to have always found something wrong with my phone on various "stable" builds, whereas some other ROMS I've tried seem to be actually stable in comparison. I can't remember what issues I'd had offhand but it seems like I was always posting in the appropriate thread with problems. Both Nseven and MODestRom ROMs have run more smoothly than CM13, I never tried CM14.1 since CM13 left a bad taste in my mouth. Probably my most favorite ROM on my VZW Note 4 was the Note5port, but that was on 5.1.1.

CM 14.1 was very stable for me. On EmotionOS Beta 1 right now. Even more stable than CM 14.1. Give it a try, I think you will like the stable AOSP feel.
What drawbacks are there with EmotionOS on this phone? Besides AOSP instead of TW

LineageOS for galaxy note 5??

Hi, do you know if there is a version or there will be a version for this smartphone? I only see cm13 and it is June 2016.
First rule of Lineage is we do not as for etas
I understand then that for exynos you will not make rom? I say it to take it into account for upcoming smartphone
Unless LineageOS is going to run an all TouchWiz framework (More unlikely than a shark attacking on land), then I'd guess that it will have the exact same official support for all the exact same officially supported devices, long story short the last Note device with official support was pre-Note3 if my memory is correct. & any Exynos CM roms are half-cocked and never really expected to get past a User Build.....
Thanks

Lack of development?

I am a long time OnePlus user, having owned 4 of their models. I was contemplating upgrading to the 7T and was surprised to see there is not as much development for this phone as I would have expected at this point. Is the main reason for this is no TWRP support? What is holding up the TWRP development?
Thanks, in advance.

From what I have seen lack of twrp is the main reason.besodes that I think a good bit of developers have the pro
From what I've read the main twrp dev is on hiatus, due to this and his personal life twrp development is very slow for A10 at the moment, and until that is figured out a proper twrp wont work. Though I've read once a rom is flashed, twrp works? I'm not nearly 10% on that tho. That would require more research than I'm willing to put in atm.

The main issue is with the lack of proper TWRP for 7T and that too because of the partitioning (and related stuffs) system of Android 10. I was too excited when I heard that 7T would be the first device that comes with Android 10 out of the box, but that excitement came to end after a few weeks
Half a year later and still no development for the 7T. It looks like we won't be getting it either? Even the OnePlus 8 Pro has more ROMs and kernels available.

[Q] Would it even be possible to port Android 12 to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

Seeing how even the Samsung Galaxy S II has gotten a port of LineageOS 12, I wondered if there's anything that would prevent the Galaxy Nexus from getting it as well.
A developer already told me privately that it would be theoretically possible and that it would probably be better off with Android Go settings, but I wondered if there could be anything else that might prevent it. Because I see little discussion about this phone and I've seen no Custom Roms that go beyond Android 7.1 Nougat.
As a smartphone of the Nexus line, shouldn't it be even easier to support than something like the Galaxy S II?
I just know that it'd be awesome to see newer Android versions on it, just as with several other older phones that already got them.
Are you serious??? There is no way Galaxy Nexus can run Android 12. Even when this phone run on Android 7.1.2 (latest custom rom) it run poor and gets hot quickly, so i don't think anyone will build any custom rom for this device.

I'm just curious whether it is possible or not. The Samsung Galaxy S II seems to be able to do it, even though it's still in an early phase.
"As a smartphone of the Nexus line, shouldn't it be even easier to support than something like the Galaxy S II?"
for ti Omap chipset it isnt really easy to port twrp or lineage 19.0
"A developer already told me privately that it would be theoretically possible and that it would probably be better off with Android Go settings,"
no, you don't bringup and you can't make android 12 for this device. remember TI OMAP processors are close source afaik. and android 7 on this device RUNS VERY POORLY. so it's impossible to port a12 on this device, unless you try to port LOS 15.0 first.

Don't forget, Android 12 (as well as 11, possibly also 10) is 64 bit only.

Yep, everything seems to work fine .
its theoretically possible, the omap 4460 is armv7 and has over a gig of ram, which are the bare minimum system requirements for running android 12.
however, it would be a major undertaking to port the crusty code over to android 12 AND it would run like garbage, unless someone were to try and speed up that code, which would be a whole other story.
if the community had continued like it had on the galaxy s2, this wouldve already happened, but it didnt for likely many reasons.
im guessing one of those is the lack of mainline linux support, which is because of the SGX540 in this phone.
