what am i doing wrong - Verizon HTC One (M9)

I am bootloader unlocked, s off, and rooted running candysix custom rom wanting to just either upgrade to nougate or even just another mm rom like venom but everytime i flash another rom it says it works but everytime when i reboot it starts up right back into the bootloader screen insteaf og the new rom forcing me to do a recover and start again. Im doing a clean flash and even tried a dirty flash and nothing. Im sorry if im overlooking something basic im sure i am because its not my first custom rom install but i cant figure out whats wrong. Should i flash a custom kernel too? I thought the roms would have that baked in? Please help! Thank u in advance

What firmware are you currently running on the phone? Could you give more details? Before you flash new roms are u performing full wipe/delvik/cache factory reset etc?

[Q] So I want to unroot, but don't not re-lock the phone...

what im trying to do is go back to stock so i can upgrade to 4.2
then i want to re-root and get the latest ROM.
any way to do this? if i use titanium backup now, prior to unrooting, can i get my apps/info back?
toolkit the easiest method?
1. Download the 4.2.2 factory image
2. Flash it
3. Done
Obviously backup your data before as it'll get wiped

Of course you can, it resets everything back to a factory state. Just make sure you backup your data add it'll go once the image has been flashed

No. Google how to flash the Nexus to stock or read the sticky thread on it in this very section. It's nothing to do with CWM
You do know you can just flash a new ROM now don't you? If you wanna try 4.2 just download one and of u go...

What do you think happens when you flash a ROM? Why would you need to install a stock ROM just so it can be completely wiped with a custom ROM install?
There is zero need to install stock 4.2 first. That's just a silly way to think.

the thing that confuses me is i think i saw certain ROMs (bugless beast comes to mind) that says use this ROM if you're on 4.2, use THIS one if you're on 4.1, etc.
got a link? because there should be no reason at all to be on 4.2 to flash 4.2.....unless he doesnt include kernels

that was also my first question on xda, good old times...
No, it's not possible, ftf. files can only be made by Sony, so you've got to do always the same prodecure for flashing, rooting,....

thank you so much for your answer
so i think i will keep doing that long thing again and again
That's a really tedious procedure you're following. When I try a custom ROM and don't like it, all I do is:
1) If switching between an ICS ROM and a JB ROM and vice versa, reflash the kernel, then reflash the ROM.
2) If moving from one ICS ROM to another, or one JB ROM to another, just reflash the ROM.
3) If moving from ICS/JB to GB or vice versa, flash the stock ROM, flash the kernel, and then flash the custom ROM.
You don't need to keep on flashing the stock ROM, rooting it, installing CWM, then installing the custom ROM. Kernels, as far as I know, usually come with recovery installed. If you're in a bootloop, just follow the pertinent steps from the list outlined above.

Go read the stickys, get some basic knowledge and learn something for yourself, then ask questions about what you don't fully understand, on an existing thread that you found while Googling.
bootloader locked or unlocked because it sounds like you have a locked bootloader, if it is unlocked then why dont you flash a kernel eg. kernel rush with CWM already on it ?

You don't need to install CWM again, even if you're in a boot loop. Once the phone reboots, keep pressing the "down" volume rocker, as you always do, and you'll enter into recovery. If you're moving to a different Android version (for example, ICS to JB), switch off your phone and flash the appropriate kernel. Then all you need to do is reflash your previous ROM or flash any other ROM that you want. However, that's only possible if you've download your previous and/or other ROMs onto your SD card, too. Do you do that before you flash?
I don't have any experience with locked bootloaders, but the user above IS of the opinion that you might be on one. If that's the reason you're having to go through so many steps to flash a ROM, why don't you try unlocking the bootloader of your phone? I'm more than certain your phone's not covered under warranty anymore, and unlocking the bootloader is definitely not going to fry your phone or anything of the sort.

[Q] Stuck on Bootscreen, black boot loader, bricked?

Hey Guys,
my HTC One M8 ran on GPE 4.4.3, but today came an OTA update, which I wanted to install.
So I clicked install and my phone restarted to TWRP and the update wasn't installed.
Then I found this tutorial and tried it.
http: / / htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-to/update-your-rooted-google-play-edition-htc-one-4-4-3-without-losing-any-data-0155404/
After flashing the OTA my boot loader menu turned black (image) and i wasn't able to install any Roms, also my phone sucks on boot screen.
Image: http: / / files.tobii5.de/assets/files/1/htc.png
Is it bricked?
I don't know what to do, please help me

It's certainly not bricked if you can access the boot loader.
Which recovery have you got installed now?

Could you try a different ROM please? I would recommend SlimKat, and going from there if you want to change.

I think this wouldn't change anything, because i also can't restore a sense backup, i've made after rooting my phone.
But i wonder, why my boot loader menu changed its background to black. I guess, i have to refresh the stock boot loader, but i don't know how to do that.

I'm going to guess that you're on the OE1 firmware. Have you tried flashing the Noterized ROM?
I'm pretty new at this so I dont know what noterized rom is. Could you tell me what that is and how i could flash it?

Have you tried looking in the Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Android Development sub-forum for a ROM with the word Noterized in the title? Then flashing it like all the other ROMs you've flashed, through TWRP?
My honest opinion is you should have done a lot more reading and learning before trying to change the operating system of your phone. But since you have already started my advice is learn to use the XDA search function and Google. Find all you can about issues like yours and how, if possible, to solve them.
After all, the point is to learn how to solve problems yourself, isn't it? Because XDA is not a fast-food drive-thru of modding, you are expected to put in the effort to learn.
