Any way to backup finger prints? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Title says it all, I constantly switch ROM's and would love to be able to just backup my finger prints and restore them whenever I install a fresh ROM without re-setting all 4 finger prints each install

Don't think so.. Could give alot of issues also. Is it really needed for that extra 30s you spend?

Can't. Even a full nandroid backup messes up fingerprint data.
That thing is secure for a reason. If you could simply back up fingerprints and restore them, you'd have a huge security hole.
Example: backup fingerprint on your device, get hold of someone else's device, restore your fingerprint to it.
Kinda pointless then, isn't it?

The files that matter are locscreen.db but the problem is if you copy that file later when you try to unlock the new rom won't accept even the correct password so as rom changes it messes up the pattern and pin hence there is no way currently

[Q] How does one delete registered fingerprints? HELP PLEASE.

So I recently flashed back from Bobcat Rom back to KitKat just to find that my finger prints that I had enabled, no longer register. Ive tried going into apps and deleting data and clearing cache...Nothing, I have tried to go into finger print settings and reseting it through settings but it says by backup password isnt correct even though i can get into my phone using my backup password so I know thats correct. Any Ideas on how to clear registeredfingerprints otherwise?? I don't want to have to factory reset, but if there is a way around that please let me know it would be greatly appreciated.

Found this out the hard way myself. If finger prints are REGISTERED not just activated when you perform a backup they will be corrupted when you restore that backup with no way of getting back to normal other than:
1. Resorting a backup that no finger prints were registered.
2. Doing a clean flash and starting over.
I have found no way of getting around this. Remember just deactivating finger print security before backing up isn't enough you must unregister all finger prints.
Are you guys registering online or just through the phone?
Through the phone, but dang that sucks...Looks like I'ma have to use the backup password till I find a new rom.
Thanks Kenjesse for your experience.

I've still not found a fix other than starting from scratch, ie odin tar, or restoring a nandroid backup that had no finger prints registered. Sorry dude.

Thanks, I actually don't have a nandroid, just a back up of data through twrp. Not sure if I re-setup the fingerprint through fresh install then restore the data backup would work. Or the backup might corrupt the fingerprint again.

If you stay away from restoring any system info shouldn't be a problem. After that you can restore a little system stuff at a time, keep checking to see if you break finger print function.

Yea it seems that with twrp backup, backing up data only still backs up the fingerprint settings with it. Not wanting to backup with titanium either as it requires root. I guess I don't have much choice.

Locked out of phone after restoring system

I wanted to try an other rom so I backed up my current system. (using TWRP 3.0.0-0)
Now I want to go back, so I restored the backup.
Everything is fine, phone booting up, unlocking simcard, but then...
I cant get into my phone!
I use the fingerprint scanner, but when the phone reboots I have to put in the extra security pin.
But now it doenst accept my code anymore, so I'm locked out of my phone.
Is this a common bug/error?
I'm 200% sure the code is right.
this is a known issue, before making backups you should remove security. there is a way around it.. youll have to search for it. or, clean flash your rom again.
Thanks. After I restored the backup I removed /data/system/locksettings.db and was able to login again.

How to save fingerprints and restore them after full wipe?

Ok, so this is the issue:
I flash ROMs all the time.
I want to connect my phone to my work email, which forces me to use a PIN to unlock. I can also use a fingerprint instead to unlock.
Since my girlfriend uses my phone from time to time, I don't want to make her add her fingerprints everytime I do a full wipe.
(why full wipe? to test other ROMs for example)
Is there a way to keep the fingerprints backed up somewhere?
thanks.

Not that im aware off as it is part of the security system of the phone.
The same way you cannot do this with your lock code.

Problem with restoring Nandroid Backups

Hello xda community,
I've been having a problem with my OP3, I really like to flash a new rom quite regularly, like most people here, so Nandroid backups are awesome. However, for a while now I've been trying to switch between backups, but whenever they are done betting they ask me for my passcode, but it's always wrong no matter what I put in. Is there a way to fix this? I already tried wiping NY whole phone even /data so it was completely empty. I also turned off the option to retire the passcode before the boot finishes.
I would really appreciate any suggestions.
If it's the encryption pin, I'm not too sure what to tell you. However, if it's just the lock screen pin, after you restore, you go into the two file explorer and delete a few files from /data/system. Two of them are gatekeeper.password.key and gatekeeper.pattern.key and the other three are locksettings.db, locksettings.db-shm, and locksettings.db-wal. Then you can reboot after. Keep note that you'll need to go back into your security settings once the ROM boots and reactivate your preferred unlock method, the fingerprint data will not be touched however
Just DO NOT set a pin code or any security lock before doing Nandroid back up
Wow thanks for the quick answers. Now I've got both grounds covered thanks so much. I actually can't believe that I didn't think to disable the picture code before making a Nandroid. I guess it's because I never used a pin code on any of my previous phones before the OP3 as they had no fingerprintscanner.

screen unlock

hello,
my youngest son, create new pattern to unlock phone, but now he dosent remeber new pattern. Can I reset password, or anything else? without loss data? any mod, apk?
No.
I've used the attached file to remove my standard lockscreen on multiple phones including this one (previously on LG phones). Usually this happens when I upgrade the phone software which somehow scrambles the lockscreen encryption or something, and it won't recognise the same pattern or PIN I had set previously.
I don't think it's ever caused the rest of the phone to lose its data, but I always take a backup first in case it ever does. I don't remember having to restore it because of clearing the lockscreen (I have had to for other reasons though).
The only caveat I know of is it needs to be run from a custom recovery, which in my case is TWRP. I don't think it matters if the phone is encrypted, but please don't hold me responsible if it causes you to lose your data.
