Is it possible to recover data on the Moto Z Play that was Rooted but now has been factory resetted?
I don't think there is any way to recover data unless you already backup it.

Hey all,
I got a question concerning the Settings/Privacy/Backup Option.
When can I use it?
- Is it only for Software Updates and new ROMS (update.zip)
- or is it even possible to restore if I do a"Factory Data Reset"
Any advice concerning a BackUp App for an unrooted device since Titanium is for rooted devices only.
Cheers
Hey guys, I have done a few things to the phone and now am interested in doing a hard reset.
I have rooted the phone with superoneclick, (Will I lose root doing a hard reset-- my guess is no)
I have disabled some bloatware and uninstalled a few ATT apps. I will be sure to enable all of the apps that i disabled, BUT I am wondering if I will have any issues because I uninstalled those ATT apps? Do you see that as being a problem.
Last, I modified the lockscreen file so that it removed the emergency call button, do you see that causing any issues doing a hard reset?
Thanks
No, you will not loose root.
Can't say for sure about att apps, if you removed them with app manager or market, then they will be restored with hard reset, if you removed them with something like titanium backup, then they might gone forever.
I guess you could just flash system.img from the unbrick post before you do hard reset, at least that will for sure restore any bloatware you removed.
Also, not sure you are going to wipe data using cwm, if yes, then be careful since CWM currently has problem when wipe data, use following step instead:

My girlfriend updated her Galaxy S3 OTA and hasn't been unlocked,rooted...etc
But gmail,play store...etc aren't working a process.gapp crash when I turn the phone on,who do I fix that
I'd be tempted to factory reset.
You could root and wipe the cache, etc.
Or maybe just as the phone is now go into apps and clear data/cache for the offending apps.

I would prefer not doing a factory reset because it would downgrade the OS and delete all her apps...etc
Anyone?
A factory reset would not downgrade the OS, but it would delete all apps and data. As mentioned earlier, I would go the the apps settings screen and clear cache on apps that were offending and on all service apps. If that doesn't help, clear data on them as well. If it's still having problems than a factory reset would be the only other thing to do unless you're willing to root the phone (and most root methods involve odin which would result in a factory reset anyway).
I am really pissed off by thieves, and I want to improved the security of the phone.
If ever time comes is it possible that sony would employ passwords for the following, so that chances of recovering a stolen phone would be higher..
-flash tool(before we can flash and repair our phone via flashtool,SUS,pc companion it will ask for a unique password which is generated by manufacturers and can only be acquired by providing your IMEI just like unlocking your bootloader)
-factory reset
-android usb debugging..(so that they can't install any types of recoveries easily)
I hope this will happen in the future.
as far as I know doing factory reset, data reset via CWM and other recovery's and repairing the phone via SUS would wipe the DATA files,
so I want to secure my phone a little,
Now I want to create a stock based rom with a pre-installed app eg where's my droid, android lost etc and a custom data partition with an added gmail account automatically(so that by doing factory reset would make the gmail account stay on the rom and would not wipe it, or better just a working data of the tracker app since we can remotely control the phone via sms it is still posible to control without a working internet connection and a logged on gmail account and by doing this they would not be aware that the rom has something within it,) at this condition flashing the phone to another rom will be the only way to restore it,at least if they do not know how to flash they can't get it working easily and most importantly without knowing that the installed rom comes with a pre installed tracker app...
can anyone help me out with this idea?..
I hope It is possible without unlocking the BL also?

I've never heard of a way to backup the watch but there's really not much stored on the watch anyways. Most settings are stored on the phone, either in the Android Wear app or the individual apps you have downloaded and installed.
