Just what title says, how to completly disable sound in your camera (recording sound, shutter sound, all)
You don't have to mute all your system sounds to stop camera from making that shutter sound. You can safely disable it using CSC expert.
1) Download CSC Expert (available on google play)
2) Open the app and grant root access.
3) In the top you should see "Used features only", click on that and choose Camera.
4) Now click on Shutter Sound Menu, and type in "true" and than SAVE.
5) Reboot your system and go to camera settings, and there you will see new option called "Shutter Sound", disable that option and that is it.
[Method 2] For those that are not using Touchwiz, and for those that are using it, but just find this method easier:
Locate to /system/media/audio/ui, and rename "camera_click.ogg" to .bak.
Big thank to #Henkate for 2nd method.
Make sure to click on that report button if i helped you
There's also other way, which can be used on any ROM, unlike that app which is meant for stock Crapwiz.
Renaming camera_click.ogg to camera_click.ogg.bak or deleting it from /system/media/audio/ui, removes the camera sound. It might be different on other ROMs.

Hi,
I'm wondering if there is some easy way to take screenshots.
Other Samsung devices have a shortcut for this: http://opensourcehacker.com/2011/02...g-galaxy-s-and-other-samsung-android-devices/
The Glide seems not to have.
So is there any other way? E.g. by defining some app in "Settings > Applications > Quick launch" ?
Or is "Screenshot" an app, removed in OsiMood-Rom?
I use the 'Home + Power key' combo to take screenshots. No special apps installed. Screenshots are saved in the 'ScreenCapture' folder.
mhh ok... my glide seems to recognize this home+power shortcut but it throws me an error:
The application com.sec.android.app.screencapture has stopped unexpectedly
:-/
Sorry for your trouble. I've soft-bricked my phone several times tooling with apps I shouldn't have and such, and I am rooted on the Craniam OC Kernel and the stock rooted ROM, but I've never had issues with screen capture working. I don't know how extensive your mods are, but is it possible some app manager is freezing some component of the system that screen capture needs? Shot in the dark but I hope you get answers.

if you have OsiMood or INC3PTION, you wont be able to use the HOME + POWER for screenshots for it is considered to be a bloatware so removed....you can search the Glide forums for the screenshot.apk found in stock ROM.
Errrr....just take the attached file and put it in /system/app
^^^^^
Thanks and any precautions like say giving permissions while placing in that folder??? Thanks again...
UPDATE:-
Done and is working perfectly... Thanks... Just use the "mount RW" option when copying that attached file to /system/app folder... No need to change the permissions.... Thanks a lot again...

Oh yeah sorry, forgot to metion that you need system to be writable (RW). About permissions, just give it full (rwxrwxrwx), Android will change and give it the right permissions after a reboot....

Hi there - I am on OsiMood and have replaced the existing file with the attached one - but it's still not working for me. I get the "...has stopped unexpectedly".
What to do?

Hi - thanks for your response, but I'd really just like the stock screenshot app; it worked just fine and is free. Why can't I use it?
Thanks! :good:

Sorry don't know was just recommending an alternative that works for me. Also I like that it is not always running in the background and only launch it when I need it, unlike the stock one that is always running.

It's so loud, same with shutdown. Any way to turn it off. I know the obvious, flash another Rom but it's really the only part I'm unhappy with.
If you're rooted, just mute the power down and startup sounds. Rename them with .bak at the end or something.

This is where I found them. You can use root explorer to rename them or delete them if you want. I'm not sure why there is a PowerOff.ogg and PowerOff.wav file, so I'm not sure which one or if both need to be removed. The PowerOn.ogg is here too.
system>media>audio>ui
Edit: Looks like you found it while I was typing. Congrats.
Hello all,
I really like the stock lock/unlock sound of an AOKP/AOSP lock sound. I was just wondering how I can extract it from task's AOKP build and apply it to other roms?
Thanks!
Thawte
Go to /system/media/audio/ui and get Lock and Unlock.ogg
replace in other ROMS.
Feel free to hit the thanks
Well I hit thanks because I was wondering the same thing! Thank you for the answer!

Thank you very much. I am going to work on this. I love the stock click sound ;p
Just wanted to add one more thing... Make sure to reboot after changing sound files because they are cached in the system
I recently replaced the stock Lock.ogg and Unlock.ogg with custom files (iphone clicks) using Root Explorer. I saved the original files, just renaming them. Neither of my new sounds worked. Rebooted, powered down, still no lock/unlock sounds.
On top of not getting my replacement files to work, the stock sounds didn't work when I renamed them back to "Lock.ogg" and "Unlock.ogg" respectively. I'm a total noob just wandering in the wilderness. Any suggestions?
Quick question on this subject. I want to add the "swoosh" sound(iPhone mail sent sound) to my SGSIII. After i root my phone, how do i get that sound into the phone's notification system? Thanks for any help you can give to an absolute noobie.

Go to a file manager (root explorer, ES), find the ogg files you moved to system/media/audio/ui and change permissions of those files to rw-r--r-- then reboot and it should work fine.

Thanks for the reply, mbrian27. The permissions of the files are already set to rw-r--r--.
I'm using a custom ROM (CSROM), if that makes a difference.
Well, it gets stranger. I woke up this morning to discover that the unlock sound still does not work, but the lock sound works (These are the original sounds which I renamed briefly). Also, upon locking the device the lock sound plays twice.
I didn't perform a reboot or power down. The sound just started working by itself overnight.
Hello, somebody knows if there is way to change how the camera creates the files names??
Ex: It begins with DSC_0001, DSC_0002 and goes on... but when I cut those files to my HD, the counting start over again, DSC_0001 etc etc...
The solution for now is, everytime when I want to clear my phone I have to create a new folder and use some sw on windows to rename the pics/videos by date/time.
On my SII the files are naturally named by date/time, so easy and have no chance to overwrite the old files by accident.
Really, it sucks...
I have the same problem , I never had this problem with my Nokia n8

True... I guess it's a Sony problem, I didn't see other droids (sammy,lg moto etc etc..) doing that.
The only way to preserve the files from overwriting is to use another sw on pc to rename using the EXlF data (date/time).
PS: I'm using an sw called "Ant Renamer", very usefull.
Blow me Sony...

Because of the warranty I still did not root my device. I thought about using another application instead of the default, but will I not lose some resources or quality? Can you recommend me any to make a test?
