Hello all,
I really like the stock lock/unlock sound of an AOKP/AOSP lock sound. I was just wondering how I can extract it from task's AOKP build and apply it to other roms?
Thanks!
Thawte
Go to /system/media/audio/ui and get Lock and Unlock.ogg
replace in other ROMS.
Feel free to hit the thanks
Well I hit thanks because I was wondering the same thing! Thank you for the answer!

Thank you very much. I am going to work on this. I love the stock click sound ;p
Just wanted to add one more thing... Make sure to reboot after changing sound files because they are cached in the system
I recently replaced the stock Lock.ogg and Unlock.ogg with custom files (iphone clicks) using Root Explorer. I saved the original files, just renaming them. Neither of my new sounds worked. Rebooted, powered down, still no lock/unlock sounds.
On top of not getting my replacement files to work, the stock sounds didn't work when I renamed them back to "Lock.ogg" and "Unlock.ogg" respectively. I'm a total noob just wandering in the wilderness. Any suggestions?
Quick question on this subject. I want to add the "swoosh" sound(iPhone mail sent sound) to my SGSIII. After i root my phone, how do i get that sound into the phone's notification system? Thanks for any help you can give to an absolute noobie.

Go to a file manager (root explorer, ES), find the ogg files you moved to system/media/audio/ui and change permissions of those files to rw-r--r-- then reboot and it should work fine.

Thanks for the reply, mbrian27. The permissions of the files are already set to rw-r--r--.
I'm using a custom ROM (CSROM), if that makes a difference.
Well, it gets stranger. I woke up this morning to discover that the unlock sound still does not work, but the lock sound works (These are the original sounds which I renamed briefly). Also, upon locking the device the lock sound plays twice.
I didn't perform a reboot or power down. The sound just started working by itself overnight.

It's so loud, same with shutdown. Any way to turn it off. I know the obvious, flash another Rom but it's really the only part I'm unhappy with.
If you're rooted, just mute the power down and startup sounds. Rename them with .bak at the end or something.

This is where I found them. You can use root explorer to rename them or delete them if you want. I'm not sure why there is a PowerOff.ogg and PowerOff.wav file, so I'm not sure which one or if both need to be removed. The PowerOn.ogg is here too.
system>media>audio>ui
Edit: Looks like you found it while I was typing. Congrats.
I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could provide assistance on how I can disable the start up and shut down tones.
You could try using this app and see if it works.
If you're rooted you can go to "system/media/audio/ui" and rename "PowerOn.ogg" to "PowerOn.ogg.bak".

I am rooted but I can't seem to figure out how to get to "system." I downloaded es filemanager and don't see it, how do I get into that folder to make the changes? Also, I want to shut off the tone on shutdown too.

I'm assuming it's the att logo? You'll have better customization, like changing boot screen too, if you load cleanrom. I just made the switch
Im guessing changing or editing the startup file will do it. Bootanimation. Zip is what custom roms use
Anyhow I notice mine is silent when my phone is on silent. So if you need temporary silence (night time) then put your phone on vibrate.

So I figured out how to get into the system files. Do I now need to hook up the phone to my computer or can I go in through the phone via es file manager and make the change? I read somewhere that the phone needs to be "mounted" but I don't know what that means so I'm hesitant to attempt making changes without being sure of what I'm doing. Can you suggest a link with good instruction or is it something you can explain?
It works great for my phone. Thanks

Has anyone else tried to install ViPER4Android and have it fail when installing the driver? The error I get says it fails due to improper busy box install or I'm not completely rooted.
I can attest that I'm fully rooted and busy box is installed properly. I've reinstalled supersu, busy box and re rooted to no avail.
same here. my 8.4 has this exact same problem. ugh. this sucks.

works for me on S2, S3, S4, S5 and Galaxy Note 10.1, but not on Tab S?
Can anyone help, plz?
After installing TWRP, I decided to flash another audio mod called elements of fidelity http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765331
And after flashing that viper's driver miraculously installed!
I didn't get a chance to thoroughly look into why we are originally having so many problems installing it on the tab s but I suspect it's because we are missing an audio*. Conf file that it tries to edit but cannot be found.

V4A made startling improvement to my Nexus 10 speakers, did it do the same with the Tab S's speakers? I only use V4A's to increase the gain with my head set once I bought quality headphones.
Hopefully we'll post your findings in the main V4A XDA thread so they can improve the V4A install base for all Tab S users.

In which folder must the audio*. conf be saved an what is her full name.
It's a little chance to save an empty file here?! And install V4A after that?

I'm on vacation and will be out of the country until the end of the week.
When I get home I will go through logs and see what exactly was happening.
Can you increase volume level much with Viper? One if my complaints with my 10.5 is the volume.... very low in my opinion.
Any further update on this? I miss viper audio!

I got the same issue as you guys.
Did anyone contact the devs in the meantime on viper4android and does somebody know if they are working on a fix?
OK all I have a fix for installing Viper on the Tab S.
Use any file explorer and navigate to /system/vendor/etc
Copy the audio_effects.conf in that location
Navigate to /system/etc and paste the file you copied there
Once copied change the permissions to match the other files in the /system/etc folder
Install Viper and it should work this time, apparently the audio.effects.conf file is expected to be in the /system/etc location and is not there by default for some reason....
For advanced users I suppose you could just create a symlink to the other location also but I didn't try this myself.
let me know if this works for everybody else, so far it has worked on both of my Tab's
Make sure to cruise by the Viper thread and thank metaljim also as he gave me the initial help which headed me in the direction of adding the file to system etc.
You Sir, are awesome. It's finally working and totally worth it. It's just incredible how much it enhances a tablet.

Hey gus,
today my Camera suddenly stopped working properly. When i try to use dual mode or start taking a video, the app suddenly crashes.
I already tried a factory reset. After that I could not even find the app installed, it disappeared. When I reinstalled it (backuped the apk before reset) I got the same issue: dual mode and videos not working. The phone was rooted and I used the camera mod that sets the 1080p framerate to to 60 fps, but the camera worked properly until today. In addition to that the media profiles xml should be original again since I did a factory reset, so this should not be the problem.
Anyone pls help me.
Maybe someone can upload his/her camera files so I can try installing another apk? Its possible I got a damaged apk or so..
When you change something in protected area i.e. system you change it for good. No matter how many factory resets you do it would stay the same. Applying camera mod involved modifying mediaprofile.xml that is in system/etc folder. Only way to fix it would be to grab the stock mediaprofile.xml and put it back in the system/etc folder.

I guess I'm not the only one having issue with the camera mods. I changed framerate to 1080p60, but got worse results and the phone got stuck on the boot screen. Had to use the flashtool to go back to stock. If your phone boots, restore the xml as previously mentioned. Im curious, which version of the G3 do you have?
Thanks for your answers
@enaybee: could you please upload your original file? I just dud a backup of the apk, forgot the media profiles.
@garykl: Got the german 16 GB version from 1&1

Here you go media profile xml
Thanks man, now I just need to reinstall it as a system app, can you explain what i have to do? I put it in the priv-apps folder and etc folder, rebooted, but nothing happened
Just grab the mediaprofile.xml and place it inside /system/etc directory with the help of any file explorer that gives you access to system folder (requires root) like root explorer or es explorer. Make sure stock file replaces the modified file. Reboot and that should take care of the issue if it was only caused by the mod.
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I already did this with es explorer, set the permissions to rw r r and rebooted, all files are in the right folders.
Still no camera app
Maybe it doesnt work because we got different phone versions?
I checked the model number and it says D-855
Edit:I dont know why, but suddenly the app appeared in my drawer. Problem solved, thanks alot for your help [emoji106]

Just what title says, how to completly disable sound in your camera (recording sound, shutter sound, all)
You don't have to mute all your system sounds to stop camera from making that shutter sound. You can safely disable it using CSC expert.
1) Download CSC Expert (available on google play)
2) Open the app and grant root access.
3) In the top you should see "Used features only", click on that and choose Camera.
4) Now click on Shutter Sound Menu, and type in "true" and than SAVE.
5) Reboot your system and go to camera settings, and there you will see new option called "Shutter Sound", disable that option and that is it.
[Method 2] For those that are not using Touchwiz, and for those that are using it, but just find this method easier:
Locate to /system/media/audio/ui, and rename "camera_click.ogg" to .bak.
Big thank to #Henkate for 2nd method.
Make sure to click on that report button if i helped you
There's also other way, which can be used on any ROM, unlike that app which is meant for stock Crapwiz.
Renaming camera_click.ogg to camera_click.ogg.bak or deleting it from /system/media/audio/ui, removes the camera sound. It might be different on other ROMs.
