Hello,
I own a N5110 (Wifi) version of the Galaxy NOTE 8.0
The warranty is void since the first day... So I don't have a problem with rooting
I saw this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpMY1xqXBhU
But I've read the comments, ppl have problems!!
And I'm not sure if it works with N5110 or for N5100 variant only!
Another Q:
Will the UNROOTING Process be easy, or it'll require flashing?
Won't I receive updates from SAMSUNG while being rooted (Without custom ROM) ??

For the first question, I am not sure never rooted with that.
For the second question you do need to flash the stock. Usually people just do that to hide that it has been rooted. If it is for that purpose that you are asking, and you have flashed roms, I recommend using Triangle Away, because that erases the counter of how many ROMs you have installed.
If you are at the stock you will receive updates, and if you do the update you will lose root. I have done that in the past with my Droid Bionic. I do not recommend it though because it lagged the hell out of my phone

Well, what's the point in installing the STOCK ROM if I wanted to UNROOT in my case?? (I mean I've no warranty anyway)
Can I just unroot without flashing?
And Yes I know about Triangle Away, I've read about it recently.
For the first question>> what do you recommend for rooting NOTE 8.0 N5110 ?
Thanks

As far as I know(being doing this for 3 years) There is no way to unroot without flashing the Stock Rom. The only way to flash the stock is using odin.
Honestly I do not know the best easy way to do it. All depends on the version you are at. I was on the updated version(not sure the build number). That framework apk didn't work with the version I had. The way I rooted was by first unlocking, then installed the TWRP through odin, then flashed a zip that rooted my phone. I do not recall any of the links. For the files, I lost them all because I just got a new computer and I was dumb enough to not do the back up on the other computer. Also I dont remember if there was steps in between, so I dont recommend following what I mentioned .
the way that I did is very similar to this one:

Thanks for your big help :good:
You can just install a nandroid stock rom for your device which is non rooted...
I've already bought it. I'm just waiting for it to come in the UPS/FedEx.
Here is the one I bought.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0099QRVZS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've owned 3 Android devices prior to this. A Samsung Galaxy S, an LG Thrill 4G, and currently I have a Galaxy S3 that's seen better days. I rooted all three of them so I'm no stranger to flashing a custom recovery and ROM.
But as $350 is a lot to drop on a new phone (I had a gift card) I want to make sure I'm doing things right, especially with a new device I've never even operated before.
How do I install a custom recovery on the international Note 2? That's all I'm worried about for now. Because then I can do a complete system backup so I'll have a way to restore in case flashing CyanogenMod somehow ****s up.

Go to the General section, maybe the Q&A section, find easy guides to root. In fact, Chainfire's Auto-Root CF is what you want. There is a process that will install CWM recovery along with root.

I really suggest, before trying an AOSP ROM like CM that you first install a current Samsung 4.4.2 ROM. Then you'll be able to experiment with the awesome S-Pen features that were ported from the Note3. Really very excellent and worthy of a look. I will not suggest any because this thread will then become a debating thread over best ROM.
Good luck
i rooted my GN2 on the day i got it using Mskips unified toolkit its so straight forward and can root install custom recovery along with a mirriad of other functions.
Also used his tool root a couple of S3s and s3minis all worked flawlessly
I rooted this phone way back when Chainfire first posted this thread. I used "Option 2" , so I just did a quick root, with no Custom recovery or flashing a rom.
Since then, I've been relying mostly on Xposed for tweaking, hibernating and locking it down with Xprivacy. My Note 2 actually works pretty good, and I got it all set up perfectly, but I'm bored
I just recently flashed the latest 4.4.4 Cyanogen on my old SGS4G and was really impressed with the new life my old phone has. I was also impressed with how easy it was to flash a new rom with CWM( I previously had Barebones rom on it, using Heimdall)
Anyways, I kind of want to update this Note 2, but where to start? What's the latest way to install CWM, or should I go with TWRP? Are there any good kit kat roms available for our Note 2? Or should I stay at stock 4.1.1?
It's been a long time since I've been on XDA, and I'm trying to whack through all the threads for info regarding my specific situation. Most everything seems to start at rooting 4.3, or flashing via Custom recovery.
Hi all,
I bought a nice pink Samsung Galaxy S4 mini (SGH-I257 AT&T model) for my daughter. I would like to put CM on it.
I am looking for a solution for two days. I cannot find any solution. I do not know how to put TWRP and a custom ROM on it. I rooted my Nexus 6 and phones before.
Can someone advise me how to continue? Did I oversee any links? This device is different than the SGH-i257M (this one can be rooted).
Thank you in advance
Well...
The SGH-i257 (serranovolteatt) can be rooted by using KingoRoot or probably other apps, but I haven't found any ROMs or Recovery for it yet either. Please post any updates here!
Sorry, I don't have any updates.

I used Kingoroot, but I doubt if the phone is really rooted. I remember Flashify complained that the phone wasn't rooted.
I bought this phone online for my daughter. I really want CM on it, so I can track here better than with the AT&T ROM.
I guess we'll have no luck.
Yeah, I've been searching for a few weeks through forums hoping to figure out how to install cyanogenmod onto it. It says it's rooted, and I can use root apps, but I've not been able to put custom recovery onto it.
Have you had any luck? I'm also trying to put a custom rom on this phone?
Afraid not. I've pretty much given up, sadly. It seems like it's simply not out there to me.
Hi,
I'm not brand new in rooting, but seems like I messed up.
So I would like to root my LG G3 (D855) and install custom rom, so here are few questions about it.
1) I would like to make full backup of my current rom (all apps, settings, everything included) in a case if I will have to return to stock rom. How do I do it?
2) I know how to root my phone and install custom rom, which one would you recommend me? I would like to install android Noughat 7.1
3) after installing that rom how do I root it once again? Last time when I rooted and installed custom rom, seems like my phone wasn't rooted anymore after installing it
4) on that custom rom, I would like to play Pokemon Go, which requiers unrooted phone (even if my phone wasn't rooted, or at least i think it wasn't. I was still unable to play pokemon go, was it due custom rom?). So any method to play Pokemon GO on that custom rom.
Thank you all in advance
UP. No help?
Just don't install LineageOS 14.1 (Nougat) or one based on it as if your device is rooted, you will have problems trying to get root back! I have tried EVERY method on here and recommended and NOTHING! GRRR!
AFAIK, Pokemon Go will work on a rooted phone. I managed to use it on my rooted S7 last year. I don't know where you heard this, or perhaps, they have changed it recently so you can't..
