I have the Virgin Mobile version of the HTC Desire 816 and I'm using some year+ old unofficial build of CM13. I'd like to try this ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/orig-development/rom-unofficial-cm14-a5-t3468631 but I have Xposed installed (not sure what the version of this is, or what modules, or even how I did it besides that it was for blocking root to Miitomo with rootcloak I believe and that feature doesn't even work anymore) as well as Link2SD+ (paid version) with almost all apps linked to my partitioned SD card. On reboot with my current setup the thing tells me my SD is corrupted but I can always just dismiss that notification and proceed as normal.
How do I proceed to update besides the usual backup procedures? What can I do to preserve the Link2SD stuff/Xposed before updating to 7.1 Lineage 14? I'm pretty new, and thanks for any help.
Bonus: I'd love to get Pokemon Go working again but since it's rooted, no dice. Any help appreciated with that as well.

I had been using it for the last 2 days with out any problems.
Same here!!
But when I install Smart Alarm Icon & XInstaller at the same time ,and I reboot to see if the two Xposed app works.
However, I got stuck on the boot screen.
Yet, I haven't tried to install each app at a time, so I dunno which app caused the problem...

I was running it on ARHD but got some weird ram overflow..
It just stacked my 3GB completely full untill the phone became unresponsive so I had to restore a nandroid to fix it..
Weird issue, it might have been one of the modules..
Just waiting till official 64bit version comes out I think...
Hi all
Would like to install exposed, any news on the 64bit version and or the bugs mentioned?
Cheers

If you are using 5.1 can find all info here, If you want to use Install xposed-v70-sdk22-arm64-by-romracer-20150808.zip is what you need and you can get the APK here
If using 5.0.2 use link in OP

I've been looking for a guide or instructions on how to recover from a boot loop but haven't been to successful in finding anything worthwhile. So wanted to ask here, if it does happen (not that it will) I just want to cover my bases and know beforehand how to recover from a boot loop. Obviously part of the recovery process would be to have taken a NAN backup prior to installing the xposed framework, to recover it's a process of booting into recovery and restoring the NAND?
Really looking forward to getting this on my phone.
Thanks guys.
There is an uninstaller zip available, flash it when you experience a bootloop ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/super-alpha-posted-permission-xposed-t3072979 ) . Otherwise just flash your rom new, that works as well. Then deactivate all your modules and start reactivating them one by one, you might have an incompatible module running,, which causes it
I've not gotten this to work so far. I'm on 5.1 stock rooted, s-on. Booted up successfully after installing the zip, but when I launched Amplify it says xposed isnt active.
When i went to check in xposed, it says romracer 71 active though. A little help anyone?

Did you activate the module?
I did, yes. However, it does seem like Xposed just won't work with stock 5.1 / odex / S-OFF; bootloops abound.
I've resorted to ARHD 12 to get it to work.

It does work with rooted stock 5.1 s-on though. Sometimes it requires the 2 button reboot. It occasionally sticks at the splash screen but not often. I have used Greenify, Sense Toolbox for Sense 6 and 7 (which has lots of cool features like 12 mini quick toggles and status bar and notification hiding), Always Correct for password memory on my keyboard, YouTube Ad Away, X Hangouts which allows custom theming and features and YouTube Background Playback.. All working great here with the Romracer sdk22 arm64 5.1 framework zip and Xposed Installer 3.0 alpha 4

Thanks for letting me know. On the other hand, i can stick with ARHD as it's been so stable so far.

True that, just flashed...first boot was not successful or maybe I wasn't patient enough but the second boot went fine..all working great.
I've installed the latest (v73) official xposed for android 5.1 over romracer's unofficial one and didn't have any issues. First boot, all good! All modules works great..
Same here all works fine

I can't get it to work. I installed the xposed.apk from the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 which is version 3 alpha 4 and then flashed the framework in TWRP, which is the xposed-v75-sdk22-arm64.zip file. I have an HTC One m9 running android 5.1. When I reboot, it shows that "version 75" is installed in xposed but when I try to run any xposed requiring app it doesn't work. For example, MinminGuard says "Xposed is not enabled".
Is there ANYTHING I can do??

Did you enable the module? Go to Xposed app - Modules - Click the tick boxes - Reboot
Yeah the modules were already enabled. I ended up finding what was causing the problem. I had to go into Super SU and change default access to "Grant" and checked the "Enable su during boot" box. That finally made it work.
Hello everyone, please be patient with me as I am relatively new to modifying phones. However, I have spent a good portion of the past 1-2 weeks looking into this problem on XDA + google, and I am at the end of my rope.
Here is my problem (I'm sure you already know):
I have no current solution to installing a custom recovery on my phone. I really just want custom recovery to restore FULL backups via Nandroid or equivalent.
Here are my questions:
1) In download mode, Odin has no problem flashing an official image/firmware (tar.md5) to the phone. Is it possible to create my own image of my phone into one file and flash it via Odin to my phone when I would like to restore? I have a feeling that something in the phone checks the hash of the image (I'm sure that I'm not saying it right), and that, considering my image would be twice the size of the official, there would be no way to make my image pass using collisions or what not. However, this would probably be my first choice after safestrap (assuming that won't work), so let me know.
2) I have read that certain people with phones similar to mine (not my variant though) have successfully "swapped" the external and internal SD cards. If I remember correctly they just change a couple lines in void.fstab. If this could actually be done, I could easily restore a backup to the now external internal SD, then change the settings to reswap on reboot. I feel like this is too good to be true though, as I have not seen this as a solution to my specific problem online. Is this actually a suitable option?
3) Currently my phone model is not an officially recognized device which Safestrap will work on. However, I have read that it is possible to do on my model using the Safestrap version which corresponds to a close variant of my phone. Can this be done? Please let me know if you have any information on this.
4) I guess this would be the last resort. I'm pretty good at taking things apart, but even better I can put those things back together Is the internal "SD" really just an SD card deep inside the phone? Would it be possible to replace that card for the purpose of backing up?
Here are my phone specs:
-Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (SCH-I435)
-The carrier is Verizon Wireless
-Android Version 4.4.2 (kitkat)
-Baseband Version I435VRUBOC1
-Kernel Version 3.4.0 [email protected] #1 Fri May 23 2014
-Build Number KOT49H.I435VRUBOC1
-Hardware Version I435.05
-Configuration version B13.SAM.SCHI435.0
-Needless to say, phone is rooted and has busybox + etc correctly installed.
Any help will be greatly, GREATLY appreciated -- even if that help is telling me that it isn't possible. I can't seem to give up on this.
Thanks,
Kurt

Does anyone have any advice on this? I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks again.

I'm also interested on this. Thanks for your efforts
Nope no recovery because the Verizon minis bootloader is locked. It can be rooted with kingroot i think its called and then switched to SuperSU by replacing it.(I used super sume pro to get rid of kr) ****!!After root install a application like "disable application [root]" and disabe all Knox applications and any unused apps.(look for a list of recommended apps to disable)

How did you switch it over to SuperSU? I tried, but when it tried updating the root binaries it couldn't continue because of KNOX, so I was stuck with Kingoroot's.
I used this method to replace KINGROOT NewKingrootV4.50_C120_B220_xda_release_2015_07_22_105243 with supersu. most other versions i tried didnt want to cooperate and would make me lose root after one reboot. also i bought the pro version of supersume pro its 4$ off google play.

I tried it with the free version they linked to and it de-rooted it, so maybe I'll try later when I have enough Opinion Rewards credit to get the pro version. That or it doesn't work on this phone with Kingoroot. (The Google Play description says it should do Kingoroot though.)
Did you download the correct version? The one off the kingroot site doesn't work for me. It just deroots. I still have root on both of my s4mini Verizon phones. Try this link to get a working one.HERE scroll down a bit and the different versions are there. Try each one starting with 4.5. Also remember to restart after you root with kingroot and install super sume after the restart.
I just had to re-image my phone, so I did it according to your directions. (Though with the free version still of super sume) and it worked, although it won't update to the newest root binaries. It fails when I try. Did you have this issue? Other than that, SuperSU works.
I updated using "normal" and it worked fine for me. Glad su works at least. also for one phone I did a full unroot factory reset and then I reflashed a tar with Odin. Did the normal root with kingroot 4.5. Restarted tried a few root things like no frills cpu thing then installed super sume pro. Did stage 1. An 2 then supersu started up automatically it asks to update (I think net connection is needed) *do update "normal" because there isnt any recovery. Uninstalled kingroot like supersume says. Did a few root things then restarted. (Checked for superuser after reboot and it stayed)
I'm rooted with SafeStrap installed. AT&T unlocked with the latest firmware. Is there a way to install Google Play? I've been trying the "just install the APKs" method, and it isn't working. Well, it'll work once then not work again.
Any hope? I was hoping I could flash something, but I don't know if that would work.
Flash one of these: Mini GAPPS by RolanDroid or PA GAPPS Pico.
The contents of those flashable zip files are almost the same, I'm using PA GAPPS Pico right now, had Mini GAPPS before.
The problem isn't solved with installing one of those GAPPS, but they offer the LEAST amount of "Play services crashes".
edit: when you say "AT&T unlocked"... does that mean that you're using the 35.4.6.1_user_461013320 and then unlocked or are you running 35.4.6.1_user_461013820 on your device?

It's the 320. It was AT&T that was then unlocked.
Hrmpf... Then you may have heard about the problems on all those versions ending with 320 (the German & UK versions are also poorly in handling GAPPS).
For whatever reason, the "GSM unlocked" version ending with 820 gets the best results regarding Play Store & services.
You may consider installing the 820 after trying it on your current 320. For help with installing the "new" image, click the 2nd link in my signature ("Fire Phone stock recovery: factory images").
Just report back here with your results and / or if you need further info & help. Btw. The "GSM unlocked" version will work fine on your device, the net(un)lock isn't affected by the OS version.

I was just looking at that. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
To update: I flashed the 820 firmware and SuperSu, booted and logged into the phone, then rebooted and flashed Google Apps. It's working great! Once I got it up and running it seems to be working damn near flawlessly.
How about 4.6.4 464000220
I'm running 4.6.4 464000220. I ran KingRoot. Installed Safestrap. Flashed PA GApps. I can get some apps ok but Google Photos doesn't seem to be able to upload. Should I try something else? Another firmware?
Thanks,
Got it
I downgraded to 4.6.3 and flashed the PA GApps. Rooted with GoMobile. Everything is working great!
I decided to update my phone from CM13 to CM14.1 the other day without having read anything about CM14 and not realising how new it was (yes I know, stupid thing to do!).
So after the update I've had nothing but problems with google services not working properly, so I uninstalled google services from the apps menu within the phone, downloaded the Android 7.1, ARM, Stock version of GAPPS from opengapps.org and booted my phone into TWRP and flashed the newest version of gapps.
This fixed the issue with google services not responding, however now none of my apps work.
Anytime I try to load an app such as facebook, email, browser. My phone will freeze for several minutes and then the app will just tell me its stopped responding.
Does anybody have any advice on what to do? (I dont care if the result is that I have to wipe the phone and lose everything on it, just want my phone to work again!)
Edit: an additional piece of info, any time I try to do something that requires root access (for example moving an app to my SD card) my phone will tell me that I don't have root access, even though I must because I'm using cyanogenmod...

Try doing a clean flash of the rom along with the respective gapps package. You have to flash the rom and gapps together. And for the root issue, you have to first turn ON root from the developer options in settings.

Hi guys, is there a way to change the carrier name? The correct name for my carrier is "telecom Italia spa", not "... Italiz spa". Thanks in advance.
Hi. I really miss playing Pokemon GO on Android and I wanted to know if there is currently a way to make it think I'm not rooted. Got HTC Desire 816 with Virgin in USA. I'm rooted, running unofficial CM14 for quite a while, I have XPosed installed (not sure how old it is, or how to update it) as well as Magisk manager and probably several other tweaky stuff going on. I also have my SD card partitioned and run most apps off it using Bulent Akpinar's Link2SD. I am not sure what the next step to get Pokemon Go to authenticate. Once upon a time it worked with something simple but that doesn't work anymore. Any ideas? Thanks. I am not quite to the point where I can post links yet (junior member) but I will provide screenshots if I can get to that point soon.
P.S. I would also like to get Miitomo, Pokemon Shuffle and Fire Emblem Heroes working if possible using the same/similar methods but it's not that important to me.
Thanks in advance.
