I'm going to be going to a reception/WiFi free zone at the end of this month. I should get my GN in the middle of Dec. I got a question about setup though, will I be qble to get past the initialization with being completely cutoff from data? Pretty much ill just be using the phone as a media device for about 4-5 months. Can anyone else verify that you can skip past the setup screens on ICS?
Yes you would, but trust me this is not the phone for you especially with the 16GB on it.
I hear ya, I'm hoping for the 32 gb... I can wait for the larger gsm version until may if I have to but I'm being optimistic.
Back on topic, I'm glad to know you can use the phone as a media device with no signal.

You can skip through all of the setup all the way to the homescreen if you want.
I went to that website that is linked around here for paying to unlock the bootloader on my phone.(unlock-bootloader.com) Does it take quite awhile to hear back from them? I think it's been maybe 3 days since i filled out the form asking to be unlocked. I'd hate to keep bugging them with emails though. Are there other people offering this service?

Hello everyone, i recently lost my phone and i have been doing some research into the phone i will be getting next.
I have been conidering this phone because it looks like it will satisfy almost all my needs (would like an amoled display but i can live without it)
So my question to all you nextbit robin users is: is it worth getting, what are your experiences with it, any big downsides?
i have been looking around the internet and some people said it was a bad phone.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
Jim

I'm completely satisfied with it. Good specs and a good choice of ROMs to choose from.

The cloud only works with Nextbit OS.
It goes for $140 bucks. Can't go wrong at that price. Check it out.
I got it at 180€. It is the best phone available at that price in my opinion unless you wish to import a phone from China and deal with all the hassle.
How good is the camera?
Ok so Nextbit was recently bought by razer. my question is, Will the servers still stay up for the 100 gigs of storage? because if not i dont think ill buy it. i know they will no longer have the warrenty as of february but i really hope they will keep the servers up.
Cheers.
Jim
Edit: made saperate thread because maybe more people will notice
One of the Nextbit devs said the 100 gigs of storage servers will stay up for 1 more year (Feb 2018)
I have Robin and I also have a honor 8. I love the look and feel of the Robin and also love the dual front facing speakers. Plus Robin's OS is almost like stock Android except for the launcher which can be easily changed. The deal breaker is no SD card support I really wish they would have added a SD card support to the Robin and it would be an awesome phone. I don't want to store all my stuff in a cloud storage period. So unfortunately I will be keeping the honor 8 which has one the worst OS I've ever used. But if SD card isn't a big deal get the Robin it's a great phone. Also Robin's notification light is on the bottom next to the charge port which is kinda wired in my opinion.
I purchased this phone a few weeks ago, literally a few days before they were purchased by Razer. I was looking for a backup phone to my Nexus 6p and came across a thread where this phone was mentioned. Needless to say I've been actually using this phone more than my Nexus 6p. For $160, you really can't beat it. I don't use the cloud storage feature at all though. Main differences between 6p are: camera (6p is better but this one isn't bad), battery life (worse than 6p) , overall speed and updates. I like the unique look of the phone too.
But this phone is on par, if not better than the Nexus 5x, which I owned for a couple weeks before returning to get the 6p.
It really depends on what your expectations is for the phone. If you're coming from and iPhone, expect to be disappointed. If you're coming from a low budget phone, it will likely make you happy. The phone on its own with stock ROM performs very poorly (in my opinion as I'm a tech enthusiast, love high spec'd out Oneplus phones, so I've been spoiled). However, there is a silver lining. There is great support for custom ROMs and kernels for this phone. If you're willing to put in the time and research and work, it can easily perform on par with a $500+ phone. Just my two cents.
So i got the phone and after a week the top speaker stopped working. it sucks but i sent it back today and will be expecting a replacement soon. i really hope this one works this time.
Hello
I went to the site LeEco and I saw this ad
https://bbs.le.com/thread-2417739-1.html
Is LeEco getting bankrupt?
If that is very sad
I think so, ans it's maybe the reason the sync with my LeCloud account isn't working anymore on my stock 26s...
It just says it's under maintenance. Please be patient and sorry for the inconvenience. I'm sure it will be back soon.

No, LeEco still alives
In my opinion leeco is had no money and we will never get updates and new features....
Leeco was totally irresponsible. I don't know about economics, but as a such big company they are, they should have planned their expansion. But they went in a eletric car crazyness. Their CEO sucked money from Leeco to invest in their eletric car. That and leeco expanding too fast. This is even more surprising because leeco is older than netflix! So there you go, in a zip of time, leeco in serious trouble. Even a giant can fall.

Thanks for the correction, i don't why, i always thought Letv/Leeco started before netflix, anyway, they are/were big. Pitty because in the mobile area, they were going strong. They were really motivated to take on Apples and the likes. Oh well...

I was shocked when I learned how old Netflix actually is. I never would've guessed they were 20 years old.
Is there a mod for p6 and p6pro? I tried pixel props mod and it didn't work
No.
You mean to allow unlimited original resolution images and videos backups using Google Photos? No.
Just buy an cheap refurbished OG pixel and upload from it. This is the way.

This means you need to sync the devices, the pixel 1 would have to be online all the time etc. Not very handy.
Get over it. Google offers 200gb of storage for $30 for the year. Or $100 for 2TB. You just paid $1000 for a phone and you're going to cry about cheap storage fees?

Ummm. Cheap? 100gb with 4k videos are quickly burnt.
It's not worth editing your build prop or installing Magisk modules to make this work. If your phone pretends it's a Pixel 1, it can start losing newer features that rely on the phone identifying itself as a Pixel 6.
The Pixel 1 upload slave device is the only decent way to do this. Just have it sit on wifi and sync daily. If you're clever, you can probably set up a whole automation procedure.
I used to keep my and my wife's old Pixel 1s syncing photos from our (now old) newer phones using the free SyncThing, however at least some things were still definitely taking up Drive space from Google Photos. Enough that I gave up on the idea. It mostly worked but I heard that Google got smarter about recognizing what photos and videos were actually taken on the Pixel 1, and which ones weren't.
I finally gave in when I pretty much already made up my mind that I'd likely be buying the P6P 512 GB when it would be released, so I bought the 2 TB Google One plan to get the 10% credit back for our two P6P's (and other Google stuff I've bought since then).

Sorry, it is actually 200gb. I edited my other post.
I'm in the UK and I pay for 100gb Google 1 monthly at a cost of £1.59. BUT currently it hasn't cost me a penny yet, I use the Google Rewards and answer surveys which give me credit 10p here 30p there and I'm £10 in credit up to now so free storage for me and haven't paid a penny 2 months in and won't for the foreseeable and if I do £1.59 a month ain't going to break the bank any time soon especially knowing that all my precious photos and docs are safely backed up.

In my use case I move photos taken by various cameras (P6P, DSLR, 360 camera, etc.) at weekend. Then process them on PC (geotagging, minor adjustment) then upload all of them to two OG pixels for parallel upload via WiFi. All photos then being accessible from anywhere via Google Photos. So far this works flawlessly. The freebies are there, just if it suit your upload style....
Yeh, Google Photos has improved a lot! It's my go-to.
Hate to revive an old(ish) thread, but has anyone using an old P1 as an upload slave had any issues with metadata getting changed? I made a thread here describing my specific issues, but basically I'm using Nearby Share to send stuff to my p1 for upload, and screenshots are getting their times changed when the upload finishes. Videos are fine, pictures are fine, and screen recordings are fine, it's literally just screenshots. Had no issues when I was using my P3 as an uploader before that benefit was EOL'd.
For those in the US with Amazon Prime. The service includes unlimited storage in Amazon Photos, including original and RAW files.

I had no issues with metadata that I noticed when I used SyncThing - I synced my entire internal storage to my old P1.
I did have a problem with Drive still running out of space so at least some photos or videos didn't work for unlimited storage by that method.
My wife, too.
