I was trying to install Iron rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/stock-tw-rom-galaxy-tab-s-8-4-t2995235
and followed the below steps as mentioned in the installation document of roms thread..
1. Download the rom and put it to your SD card or internal storage
2. Download latest bootloader and modem for SM-T705 and bootloader only for SM-T700
3. Boot into download mode, download latest Odin available and flash BL in BL tab and CP in CP tab
4. Make sure you use most recent TWRP which can be found T705 or T700
5. Flash TWRP with odin in AP tab
6. Boot into recovery using: home+power on + volume up
7. Select wipe, advanced wipe: data, cache, dalvik-cache and system
8. Install the rom (in aroma select "dirty flash", otherwise you may have problems!)
9. After rom installation reboot and wait around 20 minutes till the tab boots up
10. Enjoy MM on your Tab S!
I followed steps 1 to 7 successfully. When I tried step 8 it said "Failed to map file IronRom_SM-T70X_V3.2.zip" in external sd card.
Now when pressed rebooted it warned that "No OS is installed."
After rebooting its stuck in the boot screen with "powered by android logo. I pressed power button for 1 min and still tab is not shutting down.
Questions
1) How to do shutdown the tab & reboot to twrp?
2) How do i fix the "Failed to map file IronRom_SM-T70X_V3.2.zip" issue and install IronRom_SM-T70X_V3.2.zip?
3) Atleast how to enter into download mode so that I ca at least install stock rom?
Please help!
Thanks

When press all the buttons ie. power +volume up +volume down+home its showing the battery charging screen even though the tab is not plugged in.
So since tab is still not shutdown i am not able to try to boot to recovery.
Please guide.
Power volume - and home button should get you in to download mode so you can flash a stock rom......

I have searched for solutions/guides about 9 hours now and yet I am not sure how to proceed. My problem is following:
I'm attempting to install CM 10.1 + Gapps in Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-i8160 as instructed here [ROM][4.2.2][TeamCanjica] CyanogenMod 10.1.
Details:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-i8160
Firmware: GT-I8160 NEE I8160XXMG2 (Nordic)
OS: Android JB 4.1.2
I have succesfully rooted the phone (e.g. Superuser and Titanium backup running on the phone) by these steps [GUIDE] Root Your Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 [GB and JB].
Steps (Jelly Bean with Stock Kernel):
First, Put the SuperSU Flashable Zip to your SD Card.
Boot into Recovery Mode (Volume Up + Home + Power)
Flash the CWM from stock recovery.
Flash the SuperSU Flashable Zip from CWM recovery.
Wait.
Choose "Reboot System Now"
Tadaa, now you have a rooted phone.
Click to collapse
Here is a list of things what I have done:
- Downloaded CWM 6 by Shaaan from http://d-h.st/oZD
- Moved the zip file to external SD card via USB cable
- Downloaded SuperSU-v1.86
- Moved SuperSU-v1.86 zip file to external SD card via USB cable
- Turned phone power off
- Turned on Android recovery mode by pressing simultaneously volume up button, home button and power button
- In Android recovery mode I chose option "install zip file from SD card"
- Installed SuperSU-v1.86 from zip file (using Android recovery mode)
- Installed CWM 6 by Shaaan (using Android recovery mode)
After I finished installing CWM 6 it switched from Android recovery mode to CWM automatically.
- I chose option "reboot now" (using CWM 6)
My phone booted normally, SuperSU 1.86 was installed and I was able to run it. I also tested to run Titanium backup to ensure that my phone is rooted.
At this stage I turned power off from phone and entered again back to Android recovery mode. Since CWM 6 by Shaaan is temporary I had to install it again from zip file. When I am using CWM and choose option "install zip file from SD card" it shows up the following error message:
E: can’t mount /sd card
I tried to format external SD card using Windows quick format. I set the file system to FAT32 and block size 4096. Then I copied CWM zip file back to external SD card, run it and tried to choose option "install zip file from SD card" again but I still received the same error as described above.
So my phone should be rooted at this stage but I'm not sure how I should proceed. One possible solution is attempt to install CM 10.1 + Gapps using Android recovery mode. I haven't tried out this yet because I'd not rather see my phone get bricked.
My questions are listed below:
1. Am I missing something, should I install something in other way?
2. Would it be safe to attempt install CM 10.1 + Gapps using Android recovery mode?
3. Should I perform factory reset and dalvik wipe before trying to install CM 10.1 + Gapps in Android recovery mode?
4. Is it necessary to use CWM? Should I use some other version of it?
4. Yes it is.
Try Reflash official firmware, use temp cwm 6 again and see.

2: it's "safe" as it will fail before it starts replacing your OS with one that "Android system recovery (3e)" will accept :silly:
3: before or after is generally the same (when it's not, do it first) as long as you do it and wiping data+cache includes dalvik as it's either all in cache or split between the two
Maybe try putting the zips in the USB storage then select in CWM "install from storage">"internal sdcard" (the last option)...
The phone is/was rooted (by one click) and with gc01 and i believed it was stock rom. This my first time doing this so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
I was following at least I think I was trying to follow instructions listed on post 77 link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48979264&postcount=770
I skipped step 1 and went to step 2. I opened up the One-Click EL26 Stock CWM5.exe. I waited for it to recoginze and clicked start. It went into screen where it says "Samsung Galaxy 2" but with a yellow triangle with exclamation and won't remove from this screen? Also holding the power button doesn't work when trying to turn it off from this screen; so the battery have to remove.
I tried to boot into recovery and it does allow me to do so. It takes me to ClockWorkMod v5.0.2.7. Any help would be good? Thanks in advance.

Since you can still boot into Clockwork Recovery then download a stock rom and flash via recovery.

Thanks a ton for the information. I guess I will download a stock rom from: rwilco12 website. Does it have to the same rom I had previously which was the gc01? Or should I take it back to ICS FI22 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Full Restore - Rooted? I know that a non jb modem is needed for CM11. Did I screwed up with the instructions gives for the CM11 or will it not work with my phone?
Also I was trying to send you a donation but it stated : We cannot process this transaction because there is a problem with the PayPal email address supplied by the seller. Please contact the seller to resolve the problem.
Thanks once again.

Since you were able to get into ClockWorkMod recovery mode, you should have been able to continue with step 5.
Flash a recovery that can help with flashing CM 11 roms. a CM 10.2 rom with the built in kernel recovery can do so.
If this method doesn't help. Follow this procedure to installing CM11 based ROMs for the E4GT.
Download Philz Touch Recovery here
Philz_Touch CWM 6 Recovery
Grab Philz Touch 6.19.3.tar. Use PC Odin3 v3.07 to flash the recovery.

Rom thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563557
Refer this to see the listed bugs and stuff.
Now,
1. Download Odin from here : http://www.mediafire.com/download/vwuqru9m1jp9wbw/Odin3_v3.09.zip
2. Goto to this page :
https://goo.im/devs/pawitp/i9082_cm11.0/
Download cm11 20140813 .zip and recovery 20131210.tar
3. Download the latest google apps zip from here : http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
Make sure you have a MicroSD card installed in your phone with at least 300mb free space.
4. Copy the zip file for cm11 ROM and Google Apps into your phone’s external SD card (do not copy it to internal storage of your phone).
5. Now you need to install ClockworkMod Recovery on your phone, so boot into Odin mode by pressing Power + Volume Down + Home button. Once you are in Odin mode, let go of the keys and connect the phone to your PC.
Open Odin on your PC, make sure only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked.
Under Files, click on AP and choose ClockworkMod zip file. Once Odin has done checking the file, click on start. After Odin is finished installing ClockworkMod, it will reboot the phone.
6. (REMEMBER TO BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA AND CONTACTS etc.) Now you will need to boot into recovery mode by pressing Power + Volume Up + Home Button, once you are in recovery mode, let go of those buttons.
Use volume up and down key to scroll up and down. Choose “install zip option” and then press power button.
Now choose zip from /storage/sdcard1 and press power button again.
Now choose Cm11 ROM zip file and press power button and then press yes to install custom ROM.
Within few minutes, Cm11 ROM should be installed on your phone.
After the phone is done rebooting, go to Settings – Backup and reset – Factory data reset. This step is essential if you were using Samsung firmware before installing this ROM.
7. After doing all this, you would have noticed that none of Google’s Apps are installed in your phone, including Play Store. To install the bare basics, reboot the phone into recovery mode by pressing Power + Volume Up + Home button.
Again choose to install from SD card and this time, choose the Google Apps zip file.
Once installed, reboot the phone and you will have Play store along with Gmail and a few other apps installed on your phone. Rest of the apps you can download from the Play Store and now you can start using your phone.
Disclaimer:*There is always a chance that while flashing your firmware, you can cause damage to your phone’s firmware and end up bricking it. So make sure to proceed with caution and follow all the above listed steps.

Hello, i've spent my entire night reading guides on this forum and youtube, but every guide is different and i ended up super-confused and frustrated so i decided to register and ask.
I've got an Xperia Arc S and i updated to ICS 4.0.4 using Sony Companion. I've seen some videos of Xperia Arcs with amazing interfaces (Jellybean and Kitkat) so i decided to try to install them because im getting SIM errors in the middle of calls with ICS.
I managed to unlock the bootloader by myself with Android Studio.
For the guide im following it says i should prepare 3 things before i install CyanogenMod 10 (Bootloader unlocked, Root the phone, and install CWM recovery).
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone, but it won't let me install CWM recovery.
Like i said i have an Arc S 4.0.4 with ICS and the CWM installations i find only work with 2.3 Gingerbread. People say for ICS you need to download an CWM auto installed from the market (X-part). But i installed that thing, i tap on the Install CWM tab and it says installation complete but after i restart i can't get into recovery mode, tried pressing volume up, volume down, back button, etc. Also tried the "Reboot phone into recovery mode" on the app i downloaded but i continues to boot normally, no recovery.
What should i do?
This are the steps i made on a notepad but im stucked:
1. Unlock bootloader [DONE]
2. Root phone [DONE]
3. Install ClockWorkMod Recovery. [Stucked here]
4. Download CyanogenMod 10 anzu + Google apps.
5. Download "Unlock SE xperia".
6. Download Flashtool
7. Copy zips to SD card (Cyanogen zip + google apps zip)
8. Copy boot.img from Cyanogen to "Unlock SE Xperia/fastboot_with_android_usb/fastboot".
9. Plug the phone and put in fastboot mode (blue led).
10. Open command prompt on "Unlock SE Xperia/fastboot_with_android_usb/fastboot"
11. Check everything is ok with the command "fastboot devices" Intro
12. Run the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" (I assume this is how you flash that kernell thing).
13. Unplug phone and access recovery mode with Power buttom + back button.
14. Select option "wipe data/factory reset"
15. Select option "wipe cache partition"
16. Select option "advanced", "wipe dalvik cache".
17. Select option "install zip from sd card" and select Cyanogen's zip
18. Repeat 17 but install the google apps' zip this time
19. Reboot system now
20. End.
Are those steps correct?.
Thank you.
I solved it, thanks for the lack of replies anyways lol
The post below started out as my proposed plan for updating a S3 i747m (Canadian) from stock 4.4.2 to CM11. I've since gone back and updated it with the results to turn it into more of a guide for the next moder. This will not do a carrier unlock and it will flip your warranty bit.
Prep:
Download and install Odin_v3.09.zip (recommended for JellyBean/KitKat firmwares) (droidviews.com/download-odin-tool-for-samsung-galaxy-devices-all-versions/)
Download and install the Samsung drivers (samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-I747MBBATT#)
Download the latest appropriate TWRP (at the time if writing it was twrp-3.0.2-0-d2can.img.tar, not the .img but the .tar file, from the dl.twrp.me/d2can page).
Download CyanogenMod and copy it to the external SD card (started with the latest CM11 build with the stagefright fix from download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=snapshot&device=d2lte).
Download Gapps and copy it to the external SD card (personally I grabbed the ARM/4.4/Nano from opengapps.org).
Install recovery:
Boot into Download Mode on the S3 (hold home + volume down, hit power button, then volume up at the confirmation screen)
Launch Odin (as admin) and uncheck everything except Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.
Select the TWRP .tar file in the AP (apparently used to be PDA) mode and flash the recovery
Once the phone has rebooted successfully, shut it down.
Install CyanogenMod:
Boot into recovery (hold home + volume up, hit power button)
Do a nandroid backup for good measure
Do an advanced wipe of your system, data, internal storage and caches (if you don't you get an error 7)
Flash CyanogenMod
Flash Gapps
Reboot
That successfully installed CM11. As it went so smoothly, I decided to try install CM12.1 right away. I grabbed the "cm-12.1-20160314-NIGHTLY-d2att.zip" (from here: forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66726324&postcount=1202), got a copy of the ARM/5.1/Nano from opengapps.org and repeated the above process with success. All seems to be stable so far.
One unknown I had was the deleting of "/system/etc/install-recovery.sh" and "/system/recovery-from-boot.p" as specified in some guides. audit13 mentioned it probably wasn't necessary and I can confirm it wasn't.
Thanks again to audit13 for their vote of confidence.
Plan looks good except I don't think it is necessary to mount the partition in twrp and delete the two files. I have flashed the Telus and T-Mobile versions of the s3 with custom roms and have never had to delete any particular files prior to flashing.
