Bought a dual sim adaptor from ebay for 6 quid.20th edition magic sim where you don't cut the sim.working fine...able to access stk menu, but only works if you change network settings to gsm only.will not work on edge or other speeds.but at least it works! Only thing that's a pain is every time I switch sims I have tof keep putting password in for google mail.if you download the app multi sim from market you can set up a little icon for each specific sim number so you know whatnumber is being used.
Might see if I can find adaptor that uses other speeds but not paying silly money.

Hello,
I am very interested in a dual sim adaptor. Can you please post a link to the vendor
P.S Has anybody tried this :
Dual sim card 26th-B 3G dual sim, they claim that it works with 3G also
Great stuff keep us informed, so you don't have to reboot the phone to switch and it fits under the battery?

it is working great with umts. no rebooting. perfect stuff
I really don't know if i feel like cutting!!!! my sim card to pieces
Besides - how will wavesecure act to this changing sim all the time ?
Smirge
Wave secure works fine.you need to add the 2nd number to your safe numbers.I have it installed on my phone.you don't need to reset phone to switch numbers.just click on the sim number you want to be live.
As I stated g works at moment.need to find one that works with hpsda etc.will post link later to one I purchased.
Its the one where you don't need to cut sim so all good.

have just ordered the hpsda compatible sim adaptor today. unfortunately will have to cut sims but not such bad thing- will let you know how i get on
just received my new dual sim adaptor
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...em&item=320541527532&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
and it rewuires you to cut the sims, very easy as you get a template.
It works- both sims work with Hpsda,3g etc- full internet and the usual fast speeds -unlike the previous adaptor i tried which would ionly allow gprs.
You can switch via the sim tool -which doesnt restart the phone-takes about 12 seconds to switch numbers- works great with wave-secure
Can anyone who has a dual sim working with 3G please confirm, and link to a source. I've tried these before and never had a satisfactory experience. I'd try them again, but want to be sure that they are fully working (for phone and data) before spending even more money on an imperfect solution.
I don't mind cutting SIM's as I have a press tool that does it cleanly - as long as that wont damage current sims. Will my old tool work with current sims? I'm assuming that the footprint and location of the chip hasn't changed in current generation sims?
Also, is it possible to log into one gmail account with one sim, and another with the other sim?
i have just confirmed -see above!
with link also...as advised earlier hpsda works,3g works, everything full internet works.
You have to enter password again for Google market- when you switch. but no other problems.
using both vodafone monthly contracts in the uk.
Also works on my n900 also bonus
-deleted- (didn't see the new page)
I'm certain the answer is no, but I take it this doesn't allow you to recieve calls on both numbers at all times? In other words, the only thing this avoids is having to turn off the phone to swap sims - there are no other advantages?
A long shot really - I get sick of carrying around two phones (One is corporate, the other personal)
yep one phone number at a time..still better than carrying 2 phones though.
No problem with messages either- it seems to save messages from both sims.
not happy about the £36 for unit ,but glad it works
Any one get a dual sim working for desire on 3uk hsdpa speed

i was going to get new mifi unit so i could use my 3uk 5gb monthly mobile broadband allowance
but if my main mobile 3uk sim (500mb internet)and 3uk mobile broadband sim (5gb)works with a dual sim, then obviously save me a few bucks
can somebody verify duals sims with 3uk

First of all thank you for sharing with us your findings.
Now here is the scenario: I have a voice only (as in no data plan) SIM and a data only SIM (from a USB stick). I have tested the data SIM, it works just fine in my Desire with the correct APN settings, of course I can't make any calls with it.
Question: would it be possible to use a Dual-SIM adapter so that calls are made from one card and data (APN settings) are from the other SIM? I mean use them SIMULTANEOUSLY without switching from one SIM to the other.
P.S. It's more of an "academic" interest for me as I do have a data plan but since data only SIMs are now free on some networks (RDS in Romania) it would be a nice alternative.
nope it would still need to be switched in order to use other sim data. you can only use 1 sim at a time
I'm absolutely baffled that I'm the only one apparently suffering from this.
At first it was ok, now, no matter what ROM or base, the signal quality is terrible.
Where my HTC Sensation was getting full bars, or constant HSDPA (I rarely ever seen 3G), this One X is either getting 3G, G or E, which means no web pages will load or anything, very terrible.
It's making me consider "downgrading to upgrade", because the only time I can browse the net happily is either very close to Wi-Fi source, or where HSDPA is very strong, so I will just about get HSDPA then.
Other people must be suffering from this?????
The only plus with the One X is in my village I find it easier to get 1-2 bars and a bit of G.
Thanks.
Talk Mobile??? What's their coverage like?
Do you know what your Radio is? Try flashing a few different radio's to see if that helps?
Talk Mobile is on the Vodaphone network.
I've never attempted to flash a different radio, in fact I've never even seen a list of radios, as far as I knew they were included in the actual ROMs now.

Afaik some of the Devs have access to different radio's, Try asking Mike1986 from ARHD or Football to see if they can help you.
I'm sure that I've seen some threads about flashing different radios to fix signal problems before, I think to see Mike1986 posting about it when I used to frequent the HTC Sensation's Android Development threads.

It is probably a hardware fault with the phone. If your HTC Sensation is getting a good signal with the same SIM/network provider, and your HTC One X isn't, then I suspect a fault, perhaps internal antenna connection issues that have plagued Wi-Fi. Try gently squeezing the phone with your thumb over the home key and fingers underneath and see if reception improves.
There is also an internal cable that may not have been attached correctly in the phone to the antenna, either way it is back for a repair.
I can't see way a software would be to blame.

Phil

Because the micro chip of old sim cards and different and they work if cutted for micro sim but very bad

I'm using the micro SIM that was provided.
The signal reception bars are never really different, it's just the phones inability to hold a decent HSDPA connection, constantly flicking from 3G, G and E, so I'm loading a website on HSDPA, as soon as it flicks to 3G, loading stops because the connection is far too slow.
I do have the Wi-Fi issue, if the signal is not full on, so I'm a bit away from the router, the wireless is just cutting out all the time, was not like this with HTC Sensation.
I don't really know about getting it sent in for repair I won't have a phone then!
If you get 3G, then you get H, they are the same technology.
What you will find, however, is that the One X supports fast dormancy, so the data connection will sit on 3G until H is needed, then switch, then drop back to 3G when it's not.
you guys tried flashing different radios?
Is it fast dormancy causing the problems then? How can I disable it?
I can't flash different radios as it's very hard to find different radios for the One X
Apparently you have to to change the build.prop to disable it:
ro.ril.fast.dormancy.rule=0

The SIM card doesn't control reception, that is a myth. The SIM card is just like the chip in your credit card, it holds a number and some data to identify you to the mobile phone network.
The problems a self cut or old SIM my cause is that it doesn't connect very well to the phone, this means your phone thinks the SIM card has been removed and gives you "No Service" or Emergency only calls.
The only other time the SIM card may make you think it is affecting reception and giving you a lower signal is if you are roaming and it you don't have an up to date roaming list, usually though this is updated over the air anyway, a new SIM card may allow you to roam onto nearer cells so you see a better signal.
A bad SIM will not knock a couple of a bars off your reception, in the same way a bad credit card doesn't give you less credit limit.

Phil

try OpenSignalMaps from the market to see what's really going on (click on 'map' for example will show what cell you're connected to and signal strength etc)
I tried that OpenSignalMaps, I notice how my phone is connecting to some nearby towers, but I live near a place called Selby, and it's connecting to masts in Leeds????
Well, this may be common Knowledge to you Dual Sim card veterans. But I have been killing myself and Tech support for the last week trying to get 4G working on both Sims #1 and #2. I guess we would literally need the guts of 2 modern 4G LTE radios in there with all the bands for each Sim slot.
It's relieving and at the same point disappointing that I can't compare data services with the sims inside the phone at the same time. It makes sense now. I was thinking how can this thing have decent battery life if it's running 2 full sims.
Hopefully this will save some folks some hair pulling data only supported on SIM# 1 and voice only on SIM #2.
So far have been testing the following carriers since I have just recently unshackled myself from sprint!
- T.mobile
- Rok Mobile (33.99 unlimited everything if you pre-pay $399 for the yr. But will they be around for a yr???)
- Ting - pay as little or as much as you need...
- Harbor Wireless -- business plans but they support unlimited music streaming via T-mobile.:good:
i thought zenfone2 would be nice for t-mobile + traveling abroad. so the tmobile sim would have to be in sim slot 1 to get the free data (capped at very slow rates, but free and unlimited). then use the local sim in slot 2 for voice (since tmobile doesn't let you call for free with their global roaming). but sim 2 is GSM only right? no 3G/4G, so i wonder how reception will be abroad being 2g only vs 2g+3g.
You mean that if i have on sim1 data and voice and on sim2 only voice there cant work silmultaneously?
yes, you can have data and voice on sim1 and additional voice on sim2. It would be pointless to pay for 2 data sims, but I understand why you would want it. But in this case, its data on sim1.

Hey All,
I got the Zenfone2 yesterday.
I noticed that the mobile data/Cellular data works only on SIM1. I searched and found no option to enable data on SIM2.
Even if we have data services enabled on SIM2 it if no use as they do not work in SIM2.
Will there be any workaround / Fix for this ?
Is it a zenfone 2 design constraint ?

Niri
Hi all,
I have notice that only SIM1 is 2G / 3G / 4G, and SIM2 is 2G .
But I don't unterstand why I cannot receive MMS on SIM2 .
This is very boring, and I'm not sure I'll keep this ZenFone2

2G for the Zf2 would be enough for MMS (slowly, with 300k images), but SIM2 can't support a data network. I'm pretty sure it was needed for the same reason Windows Boxes can't handle two different internet connections (one connection gets used, the other ignored).

This is the most disappointing thing I found after getting my phone. I wanted to use SIM 2 as a backup data service when SIM 1 wasn't working. :|
I hope this is a software limitation and either Asus can push an update or we can do something with custom ROMs.
I dont really see the point on having 2 sims for data. Honestly.
I have reported this issue to Asus .
I called Asus support and the support guy told me I need to do a system update and sent me this link in email. This update is valid only for WW SKU, so if you are using something else call your local support.
I'm trying to update, but I'm not sure how to
I think you can told this a dog too ? like most other support, they don't know what user want. This is the normal update site and has nothing to do with data for 2. Sim port.

the main problem is that you can't receive (or send) MMS with SIM2.... only call and sms
All other dual sim allows MMS with both SIM cards
Yes, while its not a major issue for me personally, I'm surprised that my much cheaper old Acer could handle this OK. The second SIM only ran 2G, but that was enough...I'm surprised there's NO data on the second SIM for the Asus.

All other dual SIMS? Not my previous Samsung Duos, nor, as far as I am aware, any of the DUOS range.
It would be nice though.
from my knowledge, dual sim dual active does not have data on 2nd sim slot
and dual sim dual standby, most of this supports data on both sim slots
Sir
I am a Redmi 2 user, I was using Idea 3G with my Redmi 2 with there maximum speed.
Since aircel has plans that suites my need i switched from Idea to aircel.
Now i am facing some problems with my phone, when I connect to internet its showing H+ but the maximum speed id 45 kbs.
So I contacted aircel they said me to check the Sim with another phone.
I tried Samsung S4 mini, the speed was 2.5 Mbs.
so there is no problem with aircel Sim.
And I tried Using Airtel 3G with Redmi 2 speed was 2.5mbs, so there is no problem with phone.
But when i put aircel Sim in Redmi2, the maximum speed is 45kbs.
is there a way to solve this issue?
I tried wipe Cach, and I also installed the latest version of MIUI offline (Manual installation)
Please Help me as soon as possible
Hi. I'm also using aircel (3g) sim only but I have good speed. If u says that other operators work good means this should be ur sim problem. Try to use the sim in next slot. If the problem still exists try to change the sim (buy a new one in same old number).. There r some problems which can't be rectified.. We have to find some solution by spending some bucks from our pocket.. I too have this problem with a bsnl sim.. I changed it and worked flawlessly...

Ya sure But this SIM works fine (800Kbs Download Speed) At other phone and my netsetter.
So i don't think its about the sim, may some bandwidth issue with the phone.
do you know how to change bandwidth?
I got this rather strange problem/issue with my G5. The 2nd SIM Slot it seems is not that consistent when it comes to network signal. I started noticing this when I put it my Roaming SIM on the 2nd slot, and there are times that it will randomly lose/gain signal strength and the network will totally disconnect. Then I have to again manually configure the network settings. That's when I decided to swap the sims I'm using. The Roaming sim works flawlessly on the 1st slot, while the local sim on the 2nd slot does the same, but so far haven't disconnected from the network, or at least once I noticed it totally lost signal for a second before going back to normal.
Is this normal for the Moto G5? This is something I can't argue with the store from where I got it from since the SIM is accepted and read by the 2nd SIM Tray.
The Moto G5 with Motorola firmware is currently being mis-sold, it is not really dual-SIM as you expect, the second SIM is more an internal storage location - you can switch to it but not use both properly at the same time. When connected with 4g to the first SIM the second is set to the obsolete and not available in many areas 2g. I have found that disabling the first sim is not good enough to allow the second to use 4g, you also have to set the second sim as the primary data SIM. The Moto app suggests you can choose which SIM for data or individual calls, guess it might work if your second SIM network is 2g only?According to report from Australia Motorola are aware of the issue and are looking into it - no 2g signal at all in areas over there. Elsewhere you may have patchy 2g signal and see the old data connections E or H popping up. Apparently older Moto G4 etc can use 3g at same time in second slot, not sure if the G5 issue is fixable by firmware or is some crazy hardware design fault. Don't hold your breath waiting for updates - Android 7.0 with January security update is latest here - while phone still under warranty!
