How many XDAers still using find7? - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

I use this phone for two years and a half , the battery can't work well and RAM is not enough for me. So,find7 is a backup phone now.

Mine is my daily driver. Battery is really only just enough for it.
A 3500MAh battery would suit it better, but other than that, still a good phone with mods to keep it running well when on OmniROM 6 Marshmallow.
If it still ran ColorOS I do think I'd retire it from daily.

Mine is my daily driver too.
AND I am still using ColorOS^^
Don't have the time to flash and toy around with my phones anymore :/
With root ColorOS is really okay. Battery life could be better but gets me through a day. Everything else works like a charm.

daily driver too
and flash omni 6.0
can change battery is A GOOD POINT

Daily driver here.
Just flashed in Lineageos 7.1.1 nightly 24Jan17
Looks good except for the battery life which seems to be draining faster.

Yes,everyone likes high-capacity battery and I also replaced ColorOS. My find7 runs LineageOS right now and my daily driver runs Resurrection Remix.

If I want to use an official oppo rom ,I'll choose Project Spectrum:good:.I think ColorOS looks more and more like ios and I dislike ios style.

Changing battery is unnecessary for me:laugh:. People like me replace phones every year or every two years.
But still find9 did not appear.

LineageOS 7.1.1 for find7 too. I wanted to use Resurrection Remix for find7 at that time, but there was not a RR-N for find7 until now.

i am still using my find 7 currently on crdroid v2.1 android 7.1.1 no complaints about the rom. the only thing i have an issue with while using this phone. is that developers seem to fall off quickly. and thats not that many people to port over roms. ive tried myself but i am unable to as i dont have a full understanding of what to do. ive followed instructions and asked for help before nothing seems to work for me that is. but outside of this phone is remarkably great in my opinion. its been 3 years since ive had this phone and havent wanted to buy a new phone since.......unless the find 9 actually drops

OPPO always abandon new devices, so "developers fall off quickly" is normal.
Because of oneplus Liu Zuohu, find9 becomes an uncertain factor.

Still using Find7a with OmniROM 7.1.1. But I had to buy a new battery a few months ago.

Still using as my daily phone....with Omni 6.0
As batteries, no luck on find original ones....should had buy more 2 at the time

[Q] Which Rom Is STABLE enough to daily driver for our maguro?

Hi all Gnex MAGURO owner.
I just want to share my new setup on my Gnex.
For all the gnex roms i flashed from 4.3 to 5.1, all i can say that some KK are more stable than LP. on my experience so far now on LP Zmod is the most simple LP rom but after a wekk i got Lags and slow response.
so far now you can have SlimLP and RR if you want to have an LP which will last for months.
But if you want to stick on KK better have CM coz until now CM has always updates for our maguro also you can have SlimLP build 9 if you want to exprience SlimPie.
but if you WANT to have MORE STABLE better have the stock (last google support) which im using now for 2weeks and its battery life is awesome, i can play music for 4-5hrs, play game for 3-4hrs, surfing for 3-4hrs.
so now which will you want to flash? LP? KK? JBstock?

i tried nearly everyrom from ICS to LP and have to say this is the best WHICH WORKS FOR ME:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-android-revolution-hd-11-0-quality-t1361348
+ the latest fancy kernel.
After i did flash these i have seen how good the nexus is still.
every other rom just lagged and was slow after usage.
this rom i use for 2 weeks and its the best so far.
@saprer, the last message in that thread is from 2013, which makes me doubt if it is up-to-date. Thanks anyway for your opinion.
@Akosijasper, are you getting Google Play Services FCs lately with AOSP KK?.
Zmod is very stable, and good for daily use. I reach almost 3 hours of display with an old (3years) Gnexus and all work very well

I've been using ZMod for almost two months. After that, I went back to KK because of the laggish behaviour.
In any case Ziyan has done a great job.

well at first i'm using Zmod and its one of my favorite ROM bug its getting laggy same with Unofficial CM 12.1 so far on me RR on its latest build is okay but im not that sure how long will it last that it won get laggy on the other hand SlimLp is also good coz its miscellaneous batt drain is gone now but for me all LP has slow response with takes 2-4sec before an app will open. then when using LP those HD games or big size games are getting laggy and slow response.
to all sorry for making this thread its just i'm to concern on our maguro yeah its 3yrs old on the market but still i love this phone.
I think there is nothing to apologize. This thread is OK at this precise moment because some of us are getting a big trouble finding the right rom for our beloved gnexes.
LP = Laggish, memory always exhausted, not responsive, not performant, not a good user experience.
KK = Problems with Google Play Services.
JB = 4.3 too old?.
Solution: get a new sexy phone! xD
Is this me or this should go on Q&A?
Stock 4.1.2 best rom and stock kernel I use 2 weeks and no problem
The problem with 4.3 roms and older are exactly that, they are old. Our Gnex runs KitKat extremelly well as AOSP KitKat proves it so there's no reason to be on 4.3 or older for performance alone.
Let's hope for some love on KitKat roms that solve the PlayServices force close (and maybe the battery drain since my phone is keeping its "Deep Sleep" state for over 94% in 3 days without charging since I'm not using it and it's just laying on the desk but the battery still drains really fast). I'm seing like 5% drain evey hour even with those stats. If I use the phone the battery drains like 10% hour so the "sleeping" is very lousy.
Well, maybe with the optimized "Lollipop" in Android M we can get something off the new system on our Gnex, but for now, 4.4.4 with some love in terms of Google Play Services bugfix and battery draining would be perfect. Please note that I'm not demanding anything, I'm just stating what I believe would be very stable in our phone and what I would like to use. I also believe the majority of gnex owners already have a second phone and like to have the latest software in their phones (and may not mind the lag and abuse of RAM since they don't use the phone for continuous time). But for the ones who still have this one as their trophy in the pocket, I believe that wether having KitKat running well or Lollipop running almost well, we would prefer KitKat.
Hi,
for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/development/rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-11-t3026583
Is one of the best, very stable and very fast and support f2fs very well, unfortunately the autor, "sgspluss", not updating anymore, and there is also the problem with play services in common with all KK roms. Until GOOGLE resolve this issue.
but the rom i posted is 4.3 and based on latest ROM aviable.
i dont know but it was the best experience i had: no lagg no stutter good battery and performance
I'm using Official CM 11 by Ziyan ATM, and the Google Play Services FCs are gone. Not as fast as other KK roms, but hey, everything is working

I was about to comment the same. I'm on nightlys, everything works. The problem with CM is once you start updating the nightlys it tends to get very sluggish, I don't know why. It does look like the best choice for now.

Greenify will surely save a lot of performance if correctly used. I'm on Slimkat 4.4.4 and in 6 months no lag at all

well said my friend. yeah your right with it KK has this problems right now.
Thanks for participating for this thread and sorry for making this thread i'm just wondering what would be your point of view for our maguro. Yeah some of us has their 2nd phones already but its just so awful that living this legacy phone that sudden. Some of us uses this phone as their daily driver and still using it cause its still working and not enough money to buy one. I'm just concern to those people who's still using this legacy phone that is why i made this thread.
LP right now is not that good enough for our gnex
KK also have this googleplay services problem and the fast drain battery
on JB its too old (yeah your right) but some says it is more stable on its battery life and its ram (without exposed) the problem for JB is the apps of the those huge games that may cause slow on gaming.

can you give me a link for it? i mean the omni + franco?

This device is pretty much dead, right?

I see nothing new comming up. Most people run PN with franco and get 5h SoT barely. Every other project has stopped.
Is there hope for this device anymore regarding speed or battery improvements?
You serious?
There's Sailfish OS, OXI Rom, Dirty Unicorns, PixelROM, EX kernel, Jolla kernel, Multirom and Lineage OS to name a few. I guess everyone is just waiting for final Android O.
Lineage os made this phone great again. I was about to trash it and get a new device but then decided to give it one last hurrah and too/boot.
Not dead.

I have rooted pretty much every Android device I have, but I think the 5x is great as is without root or custom ROM. If you're disappointed with poor SoT, you probably should find out that most other devices out there also have poor SoT, regardless of what ROM you use. The 5x is still a fine device because it has a great screen and a great camera, and it will receive guaranteed monthly security updates until late 2018. Only google devices enjoy that last privilege.
As for the poor screen on time, if it bothers you, just buy yourself a nice power bank. Those things are cheap. The other day I walked into Best Buy and found a 20000mah power bank on sale for like 30USD. This thing fully charged will recharge a smartphone fully thee or four times, which is plenty for most.
Nah mate. It's not the screen on time. But every ROM is the same to me. Hell, Ive been running stock rooted for months now. Is lineage os thst good?

Speaking about SOT, I had old Xperia Z and with new battery it did not pass 1.5 hours of SOT...
A phone with Android O by Google, and you create a topic like this?
Maybe it's joke day...
We can't expect speed improvements from a device that, when compared to other devices, is slow. The Nexus 5X was never a "flagship". It doesn't have too much RAM, so it will never be good at multi tasking. The processor is OK, but was never the most powerful. The only good thing is the camera, which still is one of the best available on phones.
I know some users will say that this phone is fast and smooth... and it is, when compared to the original Nexus 5 or to some old Galaxy. But even a Oneplus 2 is faster and lags less.
I'm not too worried about custom ROMs. We have LineageOS and a few ROMs based on AOSP and LOS, Google still supports the phone and we will get Android O, but let's not forget that this phone was released almost 2 years ago... development is not going to grow now. Maybe ParanoidAndroid will bring something new, but we should not expect anything big. Only updates that will keep the phone alive.
If you want new features try DirtyUnicorns, ResurrectionRemix, AICP, Slim or LineageOS.

You do realize that most of the features that people even rooted Android for, are now part of stock Android itself, right? I get what you're saying, but for me, stock rooted or minimally-featured ROMs are good enough for me, because they have everything I need.
And yeah, like everyone else was saying, we all have a phone that's almost two years old, with slightly above-average specs, that was overshadowed from the jump by it's big brother, the Nexus 6P. But honestly with the state of Android today and the ROM scene, I'd say that we're pretty okay. I'd say that we're great, even. It could DEFINITELY be worse, like having GSM/CDMA variants and the CDMA side barely having any support whatsoever (which would be my case because Sprint).
We're good, man. Trust me.

is it worth it to install a Custom Rom?

I rooted my phone and installed TWRP however looking at the custom ROMs , I don't know if it is a good idea at this point to install one. What are your recommendations especially in regards to fluidity, battery life, antutu scores, daily usage and everything working?

MIUI will give u the best fluidity
Battery life are pretty much the same
Antutu is pointless
Most ROMs have everything working
If you're all set you might as well test them, just remember to format data if going from MIUI to custom otherwise it will bootloop

That's been the normal state of custom ROMs on the last few phones I've owned including the supposedly development friendly One Plus 5. I think the problem is that custom ROMs are rarely maintained by people who actually use the ROM and device as their daily driver. You can't make a good ROM for a phone you aren't even using so the ROMs always have bugs that the devs aren't aware of until users report them. There was only one One Plus 5 ROM that didn't have bugs and it was also the only custom ROM by a developer who actually used the phone everyday. One of the ROM devs for this phone even admitted that he wouldn't consider using his own ROM on his primary phone which pretty much says it all.

I have been using LineageOS Unofficial for a couple of months, and now the official for over a month. Everything just works. Things are smooth, and works real nice without any of the wonkiness I had with MIUI. I always struggled a bit to make MIUI work like I wanted. Then again, I greatly appreciate a stock-ish experience. I am even running Substratum.

Best rom for battery(SOT)

Hello everyone.
I was wondering what ROM you guys are using for the best possible battery results? (SOT)
I used to be a gamer and recently quit all games I've been playing. I'm currently using a mi globe rom.
I also changed my battery like 2 weeks ago but the problem still persisted.
The battery drain is devastating.
Even with the screen off, it drains like mad.
I want some recommendations about a ROM that will give me good battery results, be it official/unofficial or MIUI/custom, it doesn't really matter for me.
I like both.
I think ur battery is dying, and U should replace it. Check for few days battery status by AccuBattery from google store.
How is my battery dying, man? Did you read the post? I just changed my battery 2 weeks ago with a brand new one. It's just the ROM that drains the battery.
Oh, i'm sorry. I missed it...
Hello, my gf's mi6's battery seems to be going downhill but she's had it for about 3 years so it seems normal, I'll have to change it soon - one thing that has helped is flashing Paranoid Android ("Quartz 3") to limit drain on the OS side. Since you seem to be playing a lot of games, your battery running out quicker than usual seems normal to me, but give Paranoid Android a try, it's better than MIUI roms imo (I've got a k20 pro on Quartz 3 as well).
Hmm, I see. No, I don't play games anymore.
If you see my post above, I said that I've quit all the games I've been playing in the past.
I'm just using normal and social media apps like Facebook, Instagram etc.
Guess I'll give that a try. Did you change the kernel to a custom one or something? Also, what firmware did you flash before installing Quartz?
Or did you just flash a fastboot official ROM then wipe data + cache, and installed Quartz?

I am in your situation, have you found a ROM with low consumption?
i think i will install:
- Evolution X
- Rev 0S Miui
- Paranoid
- Pixel Experience
I'm just looking for low battery consumption and having Gcam.
I have literally tried countless things for my phone and I'm honestly left without options anymore. Even though i love MI 6, this battery issue has led me to think about buying another phone. Charging your phone 2 times a day has destroyed the purpose of a "mobile phone".
I've tried Android paranoid, epic rom, havoc os, pixel experience etc, yet no rom left me satisfied as far as the battery is concerned.

I have again obtained a better battery result with the original ROM, changing it for a NOHON. But I think that the latest version of original ROM has excessive drainage. I think a Nohon + custom Rom battery can solve our problem. Have you changed the battery for a Nohon?
Of all those ROMS you tried, did any give you better results?

I'm pretty sure the results were almost identical with all roms I've tried, sadly.
I've changed my battery like a month ago with an original one, not NOHON, so it's practically brand new. Yet the battery still drains like mad even with the screen closed. It's just unbelievable. I really have no clue as to what to do anymore.

Xiaomi does not have original batteries for sale, they are all fake. Fortunately with this brand of battery I can give this mi6 more life. I in your case would try this brand.
I edit:
From this moment on I will test 1 or 2 days each ROM that I have mentioned above.
Yeah, i see. Then i don't know what battery i have because i had a technician change it in a shop around my area. Haha.
Then I'll be waiting for news from you. I will also try some other things i guess. It can't stay like this anymore, definitely.

Then I'll be waiting for news from you. I will also try some other things i guess. It can't stay like this anymore, definitely.

You can just tell me where you bought it. I ain't such an advanced user to change it myself, sadly. However, i can buy it and give it to my technician so he can change it.
Thanks, appreciate it.

If I put the link here, would it violate the forum rules? If so, I would send it to you privately.

Let's just do it via private message i guess. Just to be safe. I don't know if it's against the rules either.

If you wanna use Miui, install Xiaomi Eu Miui 11 stable for mi6. It has the best battery life I've seen on mi6.
Else if you wanna use AOSP/CAF, just wait for Paranoid Android Quartz 4. It's the best daily driver for mi6 right now.
I'm using Xiaomi Eu miui 11 stable right now and I'm so happy with it.

Best ROM for this device?

Hi I've been using the default Xiaomi ROM since I bought this device about a year ago. It was working fine with the Android 9 upgrade, but I noticed Android 10 runs noticeably slow. So I want to change the ROM, but I'm unaware if the issues are because of Xiaomi ****ing up, or if Android 10 is not light enough for the device. So I want to know which custom ROM of the ones available in this forum would best suit me if what I'm looking for is reliability and speed. I would like to stay in Android 10 if possible, so if anyone got experiences with custom Android 10 ROMS that could give some insight into their performance with this device I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
HavocOS is pretty nice, also Pixel Experience is pretty nice but when I was testing it, it had pretty bad battery 5-6h SoT. If I were you I would wait for POSP to be updated which should hopefuly happen soon. I personally use HavocOS vanilla and it works great, only issue I have is bluetooth audio that stutters rarely, and battery might not satisfy you. I get about 8h of SoT, while on stock android one I was able to get 12-13h

I ended up installing Havoc OS, only issue is camera and flashlight are both not working at all. Do you know how to fix this? I used 10.0.9.0 formware as a base

I don't have any problem with those, but I used 11.0.10.0 as base and everything works as it should. Also it might be cause by newer version, on 3.8 I had no problems and I didn't install 3.9 yet

By default the OS is almost not dozing, so you can see a bit more of battery usage, but you can tweak the kernel to save battery and make it last "forever", see the instructions on butterfly kernel post.
