This is a great phone - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

Hello, everyone! I left cricket I had the Alcatel 4s. I only liked the JBL speakers dual front facing. The xda Alcatel section is dead. I bought this phone and I love it, I love the battery. I'm glad to see there is a community over here. I did have a note 4, and there was a lot of Roms for it. I hope there will be the same here when Nouget update gets released. I'm glad to be here.

[Q] Lg OG Pro development question

Hi Guys,
Ever since i got my LGOGP phone i saw the huge potential of this phone, with it's high end specs and features, i'm still asking myself how is it possible that the development for this phone is cold dead? Was it the locked bootloader at the phone's launch along with it's low popularity? Will the development ever pick up?
I have the Korean version of the phone and it's really giving me a hard time, i found some workarounds but they are just unfinished/incomplete/missing, i really love the phone and i'd hate myself for trading it for something else....
Please shed some light on this for me guys, it's really frustrating.
Maybe the G2 will bring people back to LG....

Well it depends... If you get the Korean G2 you will prob run into the same problems... Just get one of the E models. and also your question would prob get answered better if this was in the right section.....

I've also bought Korean version because of price and 32gb but rom development is non existent. Lg reputation isn't great when it comes to support either one reason why they aren't popular.
You kinda chose wrong. The 980 usually gets the most attention.

Good-Bye GS3

Just wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who helped me back in the day after my phone was stolen from work. A large group of you got together and helped me purchase the Galaxy SIII as a replacement phone. In return, I worked extremely hard to learn how to build ROMs and put out the first custom ROM for the T-Mobile Galaxy SIII with the help of some friends I made along the way. I am forever thankful to you guys.
I'd also like to take a moment to thank all the hard working dev's who continue to put out stellar ROMs for this phone. You have quenched my thirst and helped me feel like I still had a brand new phone as new phones came out.
As of today, I am the proud owner of the LG G2 and will be giving my wife my GS3 until she is due for an upgrade next year.
Perhaps you'll see a redruM ROM over there on the G2 side....who knows
Thank you all :highfive:

Good luck! I remember running your ROM when I first got my S3. It was so nice not having any bloat. Thank you!
Your work was greatly appreciated. Thank you sir!

[Q] No custom ROMs for this device?

Hey Peeps,
I have been an Android user since Nexus One itself but never stumbled upon a phone without any ROMs except this one. Am I missing out something? Why aren't they in development?
Please do let me know if they exist cause I was thinking about taking the initiative of making one.
There are no roms under development I think so..... So u should go for it ??

What the good news this morning... go for it dude! we'll support you... and don't forget for LTE model also...
I think so. No AOSP Rom for Note 3 Neo up to now although its was issued 4 months ago . I like the design, S-Pen, battery life, price and its performance but I have never seen any hi-end deviced before with no both custom ROM and recovery like it (N750 - hl3gxx).
I think we have to wait or study to build myself . I have just bought a second-hand Nexus 5 to feel 4.4.3 Rom beside N750.:laugh:
Hi look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2828261

Hello all! New tester and phone junkie.

Hello everyone. My name is Stephanie. I have a stock Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from Tmo and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 n8013. I have been rooting and playing with my phones since the old Palm days. Why I wanted my Palm to be and Apple I will never know. Yuck! Android junkie now! I worked for a year with Sprint as a phone technician. I am ASC certified by them. (What a joke.) I am going to root and I am looking for a good rom to try. It doesn't have to be stable. I don't mind being a beta tester and helping with development. Feel free to send me a message and say "hello." Have a great night or day, depending on your location.:highfive::highfive:

Give the Alliance ROM a try, if you like Android 5.x. That one and DomPop are the 2 best ones I've used and I'm reasonably new to the Note 3 myself. Have fun!
Thanks for the recommendation! I have been on my Note 3 for awhile now. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up. Have a great day!

Any XL Custom ROM's also have a Pixel variant?

So bummed to be a Pixel owner these days. I don't know if there is a device running android with as little support as there is for the Sailfish. Do any of the Pixel XL custom ROM's also have a Pixel version? I like the phone but am getting so so bored with it. These dual boot partitions are pretty much the kiss of death for development activity, can't say I really blame devs who steer clear. Anyway, was just curious. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to ready the note from my little pity party. :silly:

How long have you been an Android user? I don't know about you, but coming from eclair, it's come a looooong way. While I love custom roms on most devices, stock Android has gotten really good.

@dictionary - I've been on Android since my old HTC Aria (2010 - running eclair also). Yeah, stock is a pretty good experience these days. I just think that like a lot of users I was pretty excited about the prospects of Google putting out this phone, expecting it to be like the Nexus series. There are still some things missing, and I'm not a huge fan of Xposed modules to compensate. This is about the longest I've had a handset in about 5 years without switching, so I do like it. Anyway, think I'll just have to try a different phone next... or, I just get a cheaper, second device to satisfy my flashing whims.

I can agree to all that. Next device might be a One Plus build. I had the One Plus One, and actually loved it. Didn't have the screen or other issues others had. Their Dev community is pretty much Nexus One level, so you're covered there. Affordable too. Just pray you don't need to contact them directly lol

I've wanted to try a OnePlus but I'm on Verizon. Pretty much none of those Chinese OEM's make CDMA variants of their phones. At least not ones that cover all the VZW LTE bands. The new Huwawei might come to VZW, but it's also priced as a flagship. I'm sort of hoping the Essential community picks up now that the device is basically being given away for a shave and a haircut considering its specs. Not 100% sure if they've followed the same dual boot partition scenario, I know that the Razer phone does. I might hold out to see what LG does. They're dropping the G line and rebranding their flagship.

I'd love an Essential Phone. If they come out with another device, and fix their pricing, they may be a contender. I honestly love the LG v30, but would only buy the unlocked version
