Wifi off during screen off, doesn't work - HTC 10 Questions & Answers
I have noticed that when my device is connected via Wi-Fi, it is keeping the Android system awake, when it is connected through mobile data, it is OK. The thing is that the built in feature that stops the Wi-Fi from working when screen off, doesn't work. What can I do about that?

Try check if you set it up properly.
Eg. longpress the WLAN symbol in the quick settings. Then at the list press the wheel on the upper side.
Theres a setting when to let WLAN active.
Try the ~"only when plugged in" setting or the ~"Never".
The "Always" does what you do not want to have.
i jusst googled for a picture and could find this one (my apologies for external and foreign link / source ):
https://i0.wp.com/www.theandroidsoul.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Nougat-Wi-Fi-solution.jpg
And you can try checking what would keep the phones WLAN awake. Because for me it did work with MM and it does work with nougat also.
PS.: I do not know the exact timing, but theres some time that has to pass until the WLAN gets shut. Maybe just put it a side a while and then wake it up again to check. Not that you reactivate the display too fast.

When you check WLAN Data Usage. What is your top consumer?
Settings Datausage stuffs.... and very far down theres WLAN Data usage...
Edit: Eh, well do not punch me. I am even trying to find out how long it takes to disable the wifi by monitoring my routers UI. And i am waiting 9 Minutes already....
Ok so after 10 minutes i think theres something WRONG. You are right. Seems like i was facing a similar issue and did not notice. Since it seems to not work "every time".
Hm weird now it disconnected after like 17 minutes?
Any information appereciated, please.

Is Wi-Fi scanning off?
Settings > location > menu > scanning
Mine shuts off after around 20 minutes that the phone is stationary.

If it were always off, I wouldn't have asked.
Hope you get it fixed.

How's it?
Mine also turns off after like 17 to 20 minutes. If yours does really not, then try to pin down which app might cause this.
Besides that this "timing" seems way too long in my eyes.

You could try in safe mode?
http://www.htc.com/mea-en/support/htc-10/faq/2/341017/
Maybe this information is also usefull:
http://www.htc.com/mea-en/support/htc-10/faq/2/#faq-341029
Possible it can not go to standby because of pending notification? Or do you have something running like KDE Connect or some FTP server?

Ok,now my device is on safe mode but it has no application. How can I see which application keeps my Wi-Fi on?
Try if it goes to standby in this state. Then in fault free case you would at least know that it is some third party app.
20 mins?

You were right, in safe mode Wi-Fi went off in less than 20 minutes. How can I trace the app that keeps my Wi-Fi on now?...

Try to find info on topic "Check Wakelocks without root?". I would probably try to disable downloaded apps one by one until the issue is gone or try to get information via adb. I dont know how to exactly.
Maybe someone else can help also.
Greetings.

WiFi turns off when screen is off?
Hello, i'm using CyanogenMod 10.1, but i had the same problem with AOKP. The problem is that, when i put in standby my phone for a long time, Wifi turns off (or it just disconnects, that's still not ok)... It takes a while, i mean, if it's in standby for 5 minutes or less, everything seems ok, but after a while (don't know for sure how long), when i wake it, i find that it was disconnected. The problem is that i don't have a flat data plan so when i'm at home i have to choose if use my limited data or not receive network notifications... Any solution?

R: WiFi turns off when screen is off? I'm trying... Does disabling wifi optimization make it a lot more battery hungry? Inviato dal mio Galaxy Nexus con Tapatalk 2
me too have the same problem in my xperia ray but iam using cyanogenmod 9.1.0 stable version... but when the screen is off for some minutes the wifi turns off even i gave keep wifi on during sleep in wifi advanced settings
I often have the same problem. I've tried fixing it with most combination of those WiFi settings, in both stock and CM10.1 and it still happens. I think it might be something with the phone, but if anyone knows of a way to fix it, that would be great.
WiFi is known issue on 4.2.2 ROM. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

But as sson as was starting to like it,the problems started... When the bt was on and a call was received ,i couldnt hear anything from the bt headset, but also nothing from the speakers! It seemed that wifi or data, was also on and caused this.... But the problem remains even now....i changed my samsung bt,with a sony one....but nothing.... Only rebooting helps for a while.... I turned off some settings that used voice commands on call....nothing..... I read about disabling google now...i dont even have that in my region.... The phone was stock at first, but even when i got it rooted the problem persists... Its veeeery annoying and today i was using messenger, had data 3g on,and received a call....i couldnt hear a thing, the phone froze and only after a reboot it was ok... annyone has ever dealed with it?any solutions? I also read about tasker, but dont know how to edit commands and tasks and i doubt if it would work..... Στάλθηκε από το SM-T311 μου
[Q] Camera FC when recording video
Hi All, I've searched for this, but afaik this is a first... I have a unlocked and rooted H815 which is working normally, except for the LG camera app. Video recording causes an immediate FC, taking still pictures is no problem. Did a factory reset and didn't help at all, still FC as soon as I hit record. Other camera apps work without issues, both stills and video... Any thoughts?
Didn't they say someplace if u unlock u might break stuff?
change camera app.or unroot.a friend of mine has rooted the phone and has the same problem Στάλθηκε από το LG-H815 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk
Rooting and/or unlocking won't do *anything* to your camera in a negative way
Lg G3 with android 6.0.1 has random reboot
Hi there, can you give me a little help? From long time I suffer from random reboots. This happened always when I'm in the elevator and trying to sent something. Unfortunately that behaviour has become random. I've switched from Cyanogen mod 13 to exodus without any success. My recovery is the last TWRP 3.0.2.0 and the modem is 21. I tried to get logs using syslog but I dind't find anything. Logs get deleted when it reboots and I don't know how to get them properly. What could it be? Bad sectors in the memory? How to fix them? One solution I've found is to switch from art to dalwik but it seems that it's not possible in android 6 Thank you very much for the help!
Try new battery it ll be solved
Had same problem and its not so random. When the transmitter module asks for more energy due to low signal battery cant comply and a reboot happens. I have also noticed at least with stock G3 batteries that their lifespan is about 18 months Στάλθηκε από το LG-D855 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk
