i make backup of my stock room (android2.2.1)with recovery clockworkmod 3 and i found the backup folder on my memory stick (339 mb)
my question is how do i restore my stock room (now i have cutom room joker droid 4.2)
Reboot into Recovery, Select Backup and Restore, then Select Restore, it will show you the available folder on your SDCard, then select it, it will start the Restore Process.
(I hope you have not fiddled with the folder on your SDCard, like rename / change its location etc)
Finally looking to try a non-stock ROM. Heard good things about latest CM10 M2.
Current setup: Stock recovery, stock ROM, rooted, I747UCLEM
Steps already done:
1. do a full imei backup
Steps I'm planning on taking this evening:
1. download Rom Manager
2. use Rom Manager to flash CWM Recovery (should I do normal or CWM Touch?)
3. do a nandroid backup (never done one before)
3. download zip of CM10 M2 rom and google apps (where do i put them on the int or ext SD?)
4. boot into recovery, do factory reset/wipe, wipe cache
5. install CM10 from zip
6. ?? do i install google apps as well now, or do i wait til after CM10 is done/rebooted and then go into recovery again?
6. sign into google to get contacts/gmail/etc synced back up
7. anything else? i'm not going to restore from TB, I want to start fresh.

2 up to you i prefer twrp you can get it from goomanager in the play store
3 easy to do in recovery best insurence you can have for a bad flash
3. internal is best
6 i have done it both ways with no problem
7 nope looks like you got the steps right but you do know m2 is a experamental build
#2 do normal unless you want to buy touch, don't think it's free
#3 once in recovery choose backup, it will take a bit, let it finish
#4 put it on your internal and this should be done before you boot into clockworkmod recovery
#5 steps in recovery are: 1 install zip from sd card
2 choose zip from sd card
3 navigate to the zip,
4 install
#6 you can install them right after the ROM
#7 reboot when finished, let phone fully boot THEN
#8 reboot phone, helps settle things a little (you just made a big change to your system lol)
#9 sign into google and let things sync
Troubleshooting, gapps may force close on you a couple times, don't worry, if it happens continuously then reboot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and reflash just the gapps (they are finicky) If you experience multiple force closes and stuff not working right, boot into recovery and under advanced find fix permissions and let that run.
If all else fails then boot into recovery and do it all over again, coming from stock to aosp your MAY have to flash a couple times to avoid errors while flashing a completely different os(usually not an issue but you never know)

So my nandroid backup just finished, and the folder is only 20MB in size. Is that normal? I guess I expected it to be bigger. I have about 70 apps, all installed to their default location, no music, no photos, no videos, on rooted stock AT&T. I did the backup by booting into CWM Touch Recovery from Rom Manager, going to 'backup and restore', 'backup to external SD card'. Took about 20 minutes to complete, it said completed successfully, and I hit 'go back', then 'reboot system now'. When I moved the backup folder to my pc and checked the size, it only shows as 6 files are 20.9mb.
Files are as follows:
boot.img 10,240kb
cache.ext4.dup 1kb
data.ext4.dup 760kb
nandroid.md5 1kb
recovery.img 10,240kb
system.ext4.dup 228kb

Hey guys I need some help! So I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II and I am currently on Cyanogen mod (Version: 10.2-20131214-Snapshot-InstallerWPPQ50St0lteatt). I got cyanogen mod by using their simple installer that used to be on the play store. I want to switch to Omnirom but I need step by step instructions to do this. I have CWM. BTW I don't even know if my phone is rooted since I used that simple Cyanogen mod installer. Please Help! Thanks!

Short version: You can download the t0lte (t0lteatt is deprecated) OmniROM installer (and gapps, assuming you want them) to your phone's SD card, reboot to recovery and install both zip files, clear user data and reboot. First reboot will be a bit longer than usual. But I recommend you stick to the longer version below.
Long version:
Backup your apps using Titanium Backup.
Download OmniROM, gapps and SuperSU to your phone's (internal or external) SD card.
Download TWRP (Teamwin Recovery Project, a touchscreen interface recovery) zip file installer to your SD card. This will allow you to update OmniROM through their OpenDelta system, the ROM is able to automatically download small incremental update files for the latest nightly build, notify you that there's an update and install it in one click. (Put your gapps zip in the /sdcard/OpenDelta/FlashAfterUpdate folder. Mine also has the sensors fix, Xposed framework toggle and one or two other little mods.)
Reboot to CWM recovery.
Install the TWRP zip from SD card
From CWM's advanced menu, reboot recovery. (Or reboot to CM, and recovery again.)
From TWRP, make a full backup.
Once that's done and you're back to the main menu, click "Install" and select the OmniROM zip.
Add the gapps zip
Add the SuperSU zip
Slide to install
Clear user data
Reboot
Proceed with activation, restore your apps and their data.

I have recently done an update on my firmware to 4.4 and upgraded to Viper Rom 3.1.0 so I am well aware on how the steps are done etc...
However, last time i didn't want to lose any apps and data so everything was done NOWIPE
My question after reading many posts here: if i go for the full wipe to install the rom, do you advice to do the same for the firmware 4.16.401.10?
Also, what's the best procedure/tool to do a backup for apps + data/images? I am not sure if Titanium Backup is best option or maybe the TWRP recovery backup is best?

and in the setup process press "Restore from HTC Backup". It'll restore
[Messages, Accounts, Apps, and more, even the settings].
You'll have to backup and restore your files however.
[Medium] App Backup & Restore
This is annoying because you can restore your apps but not the settings and stuff, just apps.

flash an RUU wipe do anything; after that, reboot with the updated firmware, drag the TWRP folder back on your phone
and flash the recovery once again; go and download this app on your phone:

open it and go through the setup, after that press on the backup you did press restore and it'll

Hello, I have CWM for long time but that's second time when I used it to restore my stock firmware with apps from a backup made before changing a ROM.
I was using Cyanogenmod 12.1 and before it I did backup of my stock firmware by CWM.
The problem is, when I did restore from a backup, It restored system well, but ... not exactly data.
System booted well, but I don't see any of my apps. Hovewer, when I check in App Manager, I see many apps that i HAD installed but they are shown as 0,00 B weight and have "android" icon.
Memory of my phone is filled as same as when I did backup but apps don't show.
How should I use restore from backup to restore entire system well?
Go to recovery and wipe data,cache and dalvik. Then use advance restore option to restore data and cache.
Now data should work but I recommend using folder mount or sd fix to modify the sdcard restrictions on stock kitkat.
