I just read about something called "Android Instant Tethering", kind of like the idea.
Is it available yet ? or just coming soon ?
It's server side and rolling out slowly is my understanding. You need the newest Google play services 10.2.

Since my post count is so low I have to start a new thread for this, sorry about that.
I just installed the ICS Beta III
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343361
A half hour later or so I get an email from Google 'Welcoming me to my Galaxy Nexus'.
Has this happened to anyone else???
Did you happen to wander into the about section and click on system updates?

Nope, I flashed the ROM then downloaded a couple of apps from the Market as I was doing that I got the email.
All the links go to Google. I am just wondering is it something buried in the ICS code. Once you log on with your Google account it sends out a standard email to the account.
I don't really want to bother any of the dev's with it. They have enough to worry about right now without someone hassling them about something that is not that important in the grander sceme of things.
It's because the galaxy nexus is the only ICS Device with release codes for market so far. That will disappear once a more similar HTC device is released with ICS and we have a broader selection of release codes to choose from. Earlier beta's ran on test codes. They can be changed in build.prop.
Cheers man. I just could not understand it since it did not happen when I flashed the 1st and 2nd beta roms.
Thanks for posting this MrBC I also got this email and was curious about it.
I got this email as well MrBC...
Of course they can track what ROM use are using to browse android market. For example, I have recently update to Android revolution 2.3.5 and now not able to install few app which I used to have earlier on stock ROM 2.3.4.
I also got this
just ignore it lol
what i wondered was if it thinks we have a nexus why can we still not see some android apps lol
It's still beta so there are plenty of bugs. Its possible that there is a framework bug, or some component is missing. Then there is still the fact the a lot of apps on market are listed as not compatible with ICS. I'd expect it to take until 2012 before we have a fully functioning ROM and a fully working market.

I saw a demo online comparing s voice to google voice search, and of coarse for 95% of the things google won no contest, but I was surprised that s voice could say update twitter and give a message and work, where google could not do this at all yet. Just wondering if they are planning on it being able to do basically everything the other can but better?
You mean Google Now? I believe it comes with every phone/tablet that has JB. If we get JB on the S3 then we will get Google Now, unless they disable it so we become stuck with garbage S Voice.

I think OP is referring to have more control with Google Now like specific app or hardware controls.

Yes this is what I meant. Again if you look online for demos one of them shows that it works well, but still does not have full control or access to all apps and such, it literally gives an error that the feature is not working yet. I can only assume since it gives that actual error that they are planning on it having this ability soon, which makes since.

That feature doesn't appear to be available on any phone just yet, it just brings up a google search.
I dunno, I tried Google now and really didn't find it all that great. I couldn't launch apps or dictate what I want done on the app. s voice has been pretty solid for me.

Judging from the recent i9300 international JB leak, it looks like we will have access to both S-Voice and Google Now. So for those who prefer one over the other, it looks like SGS3 users will be able to use either which is good news. I was hoping that Samsung wouldn't remove Google Now from the JB rom when it comes out and so far looks good
I kinda hope they just put the ability to control apps in Google Now, I would not want to have to swap from one to the other just to ask a question, then swap to the other to launch an app. Might as well just launch it manually if your gonna have to do that each time. S Voice is only better for this one thing, ask it anything that requires it to look on the web for the answer and its slow as hell, Google Now is the best for this now, better than siri, so add in the app control and its the king.
I hope with the official JB release coming out soon we will find out for certain if Google Now will have full app controls like s voice.
S voice six because its developed by vlingo who IMO was the worst assistant app... I have the note with paranoid android 4.1.1 and Google now is awesome..until someone ports it to your device I recommend assistant from the Google play market

I have found the New Designed Play Store App.

INSTALL AS NORMAL APP
Exaple:
The facelift is unleashed todayWith word that Google has been internallytesting a new design for its Play Store app, we knew we'd soon see it surface – and the company has announced that it will be here today. The Play group product manager, Michael Silski, posed on the*Android blog*that the 4.0 update would be rolled out starting today. So what's new? A lot of focus on the visual side of things, with bigger pictures, and similarly themed content now grouped together. Checkout's been given a tweak, and you'll also get content recommendations as you scroll down the page, making life a bit easier.
Go Play
The update is available for any Android phone or tablet running Android 2.2 or better, and will bring it in line with the rest of its Android system."People around the world should see it over the next few weeks," Silski added, so we've no guarantee as to where it will hit first. But so far there's been no sign of the update here at TechRadar. We expect to see it appear in the coming hours/days/weeks and will update as and when we do.

.. my phone every once in a while running _EXTREMELY_ slow (( especially when I use "Google Search" & "Google Chrome"
What can I do to figure out why and hopefully resolve it (if it's possible)
I just went to Settings->Apps->Running and it says I have 145MB free
I'm using Samsung Galaxy Nexus (tuna) on Verizon Wireless (toro) w/ stock Google Jell Bean (4.2.2).
chrome is a bit slow on almost all devices, this is known.
what rom/kernel are you running?
Google Chrome has always run slow for me, as far as Google Now, it's been running slow as well since the last big update they released.

I remember reading about Google enabling Lollipop devices to start using Google assistant but it's now mid January and my device still has bupkis! I have tried the unofficial ways to get it but they all fail on my stock, un-rooted T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I get the Google Assistant Launcher to install but after I do, a reminder it says device is not supported. I have the Play Services beta and Google Search Beta and still nothing, what the heck?
They recently updated Google to this crappy new style which removed the hamburger menu and puts everything on a disappearing bottom bar like iPhones, WTF?! Also it moves all personal items to this weird button that looks like a pimple art demo and the mail Google feed simply shows news? I would rather have my personal Google (scores, travel times, shipping info, etc) on my main page and click a button for the news.
Why does Google always fluck with sh!t? Does anyone know how to enable Google Assistant on the Note 3? Thanks in advance...
It's now almost April and still nothing? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance...
I've seen the app floating around the Play Store, but I'm not sure if it's compatible with Lollipop 5.0 since I'm running 8.1 via Lineage 15.1 (haggertk), but it's worth a try I guess.
Can't post a link as I'm still considered new despite being here for 4 going on 5 years now... RIP
